The slight smirk at the end is everything.. Reminds me of Jaina's Warbringer and her "Beware... of me.." When just a look tells a whole lot of story and emotions!

Cool reference to Harbingers: Gul'dan (3:50 in Harbingers: Gul'dan). Thrall getting rejected by the elements the same way Gul'dan was. "The elements have abandonded me, but in their absence other voices whispered. They have offered me a gift, in return i would become the harbinger of their fury."

It's wild to me that we've gotten to the point where we're getting Trailer Content for a ... new stage in the testing cycle of an expansion. Xal'atath is definitely something.

is it though? what about The Burdens of Shaohao? Warlords? Harbingers? Warbringers? Afterlives? all these were released before the expansion, to create hype, it's a good marketing strategy, keeping the next expansion on the minds of the playerbase, as it approaches launch day.

Actually when you look at Xalatath's shoulders, its like they used the curves in them to kinda resembly the curves we see near the middle of other Naaru, like around their eyes too

The orbs above the shoulders are just magical ornamentation, similar to what Kael'thas had.

We still have 3 months till release. Maybe these short moments seeing the heroes of azeroth were just small cuts from the trailers we will get before release, like the warbringers or afterlives. /inhale hopium

nice one :) There have been shown 5 Characters (Alleria, Anduin, Jaina, Magni and Thrall). Maybe they are related to that one Whisper, maybe they are the 5 Lanterns, that are now darkened. Alleria has taken void into her already, Anduin dont believe in the Light anymore at the Moment, Magni has lost his brightness and maybe cant hear her anymore, Thrall tries to call the Elements but fails and gets angry Jaina i dont know at the Moment, maybe something will happen there. And the Flame they Seek is maybe Xalatath :D That can be true, it also can be not, we will have to see. That´s why Xalatath said that line in the End, maybe.

Let's hope they keep Xal for more than 1 expac, because we need a replacement for Sylvanas. She SHOULD be around for Midnight given that it's a void based expansion so yeah.

Given that she's highly marketable, very well-received, and that the story is in need of new characters, I would expect her to be a long-term member of the cast. However, this is blizzard we're dealing with.

Anduin walking away from the sun as she says that clinging to his hollow faith won't sustain him - will he completely turn from the light and go void? Interesting when they show Jaina and she says that she revels in power...again, going to void? Please not another psycho female, Blizz. You've already ruined Sylvanas. Magni clenching his fists and we see dust or something crumbling from him - is this his demise or possibly another transformation? For Thrall, I don't really have much except that when they fade away from him back to Xala, his outline is in that constellation - at least, that's what it looks like to me. So, it makes me wonder if the heroes are going to go dark/void or are they going to go through some sort of temptation? I really haven't paid much attention to the 3 expansions coming because wanted to see them with fresh eyes but...beta is here and I really want to know. :)

She is one of the characters who has a war within (as shown in the BfA questline) and she was tortured in Torghast alongside Anduin and Thrall. Also, Kul Tiras has quite a lot of connections to the Void. I don't think this is meaning to suggest that she is the Guardian

There is plenty of new things 1) we finally see new ingame models for Alleria and Anduin (and Magni) and they look great 2) we see that Magni is seemingly rejected by Azeroth and maybe even falling apart, opening discussion for more speculation 3) Thrall is still struggling with elements and Anduin is running from the Light. The scene with Thrall doesn't show him trying to use wind though, so more speculation can happen 4) the trailer tells us that Jaina will be relevant for the story (and possibly even Kul Tiras)

I second this. I don't understand why anyone would describe this generic character slideshow as "amazing." This trailer appears as incredibly low-effort when compared to the teaser content for previous expansions. I fail to see the point of this thing. I'd rather there was no trailer than a bland one.

Agreed. I feel this - especially the language used - was very underwhelming. It's weird how they have gone from relatively dialogue-less cinematics that were very gripping to cinematics with dialogue that are just... not. I hope they are able to make some kind of cinematic that is somewhat interesting before TWW launches.

Thralling struggling with the elements 👌

I'm sorry... But did they really have to uglify Alleria. She was already looking like a coke fiend that took a baseball bat to the jaw in the cover art of that short story, A whisper of warning. The same horrific style of art, that the Three sisters had, or perhaps even worse.

It's a whole lot better than Dragonflight's but that's a very low bar. Xal is awesome of course, though I wish they'd pulled back her speaking style a bit. We had way too much of that style in DF and she shouldn't need it to be imposing and personally I think she'd be even better with a more unique and less villain-like speaking style. Like a villain with such confidence in their 12-D chess game that they don't need to sound imposing. Overall though this trailer is more of setting up hype / questions / mystery and by now it's difficult to get hyped after being left hanging so many times over the last 10-12 years. Hoping for the first time they can actually follow through this time.

Why you hyping it up? It's literally 3 characters looking frustrated.

The animation work here does not really meet "Blizzard standards." Regardless of how much you like the story or the characters or whatnot, this trailer is still generic slop. Was this actually made in-studio at Blizzard? Run-of-the-mill movie trailer sound effects play in the background to a low-effort character showcase. This is not amazing. This is far from amazing. Pre-expansion hype content used to be brilliant story and art content such as Warbringers, Harbingers, Afterlives and more. How does *this* hold a candle to any of the content we had the opportunity to enjoy in the past?

You are criticizing empty space. There's never been a trailer like this one, because it's the first time we've gotten a short Trailer to even commemorate or hype us up for the release of A TEST CYCLE. This is not the STORY Trailer, not the LAUNCH Trailer or supposed to even remotely be a replacement for the Warbringers esque episodes(although there hasn't been much of a word that we're getting those this time around as the more artsy preamble, we did get a bunch of short stories this time around, one just dropped today and it's a 2/3 on public oppinion in terms of how many of those were genuinely enjoyable and good. This is also not at all different from normal in game cutscenes, they just took a thing or two from Hurricane and upped the Ratio and shading to something more cinema/movie-esque (although this might be what they refer to as a 2.75 Cinematic in the Alpha, so we will see more of this style when the game launches). It's a hype trailer. If you're not hyped because you think the hype trailer that isn't replacing anything is replacing something in your mind, keep cooking your brain on your own I guess.

Idk man it seems to me like they have only gotten better at working with the in-game models and adding more subtlety to their animations. The emotion in the faces of the characters was very good. Compare that to some of the ingame cinematic animations we had in shadowlands and BfA and I would much rather have the modern cinematics. Also something tells me we will get more short stories like Warbringers in the future, I don't think they have given up on that. Not here to simp for blizzard but if you know anything its that the WoW story sucks in game, and I am craving an expansion with an overarching story line finally.

@@ChewEberrie Sure, I would agree. My point is that this barely has any artistic value. It is generic. Regardless of how smooth-looking they manage to make their models for the cutscenes, they do not by themselves constitute an exciting product. This is still an uneventful, plain character showcase. I would rather see something that requires a bit more effort from their creatives. I don't want more trailers or more cutscenes, I want better ones.
