Fel is a counter to the Void. That’s the reason why Sargeras chose Demons and Fel to fight the Void. So there’s a massive potential for DH’s in Midnight. But Blizzard usually forgets their lore so m yeah…

Every magic is the counter to each other. The only thing is that Fel is the most destructive and potent magic compared to the amount of effort you have to put in to use it.

Fel and Arcane (Disorder and Order) is counterpart to each other. It's been stated in Warcraft Lore and Chronicles. The counterpart to Void is Light.

It was stated by Metzen during the Blizzcon that the forces of the light will vanish the void from Quel'thalas in Midnight. So I don't think that DH will have a major role during that expansion. However, there's potential in The Last Titan since the titans are returning to Azeroth; if the Pantheon is free, then Sargeras and Illidan are free as well.

Wouldn't say light or fel counter the void. Void can be infused with fel & light can be drained by the void. The only one who has a easy way is the undead. As shown by the minions of the lich king mining saronite.

I feel they would make the most sense to be relevant or connected within "Midnight" part of the World Soul Saga. Being its connected to elune, elves, and kaybe Illidan could have a background or supporting role within it. Cant remember if he's canonically gone atm tbh. But if not, then yeah, I like my idea lol. I feel similar aimlessness about Death Knights. It just didn't feel particularly 'right' to adventure and quest around in the Dragon Isles. A place that's colourful and full of life. And where the premise to go there is less than dire, more about curiosity than anything. I wager it would feel similar with Demon Hunters.

I always thought what with wardens being tied so closely to demon hunters at the start of legion that blizz would lean in to giving demon hunters a third spec being a mix of warden/dh. I mean, there was even a DH called Allari the Souleater, who has a 2H polearm whose questline in azsuna was about trapping demons...

I like how much the "demon hunter who ended was a fisher" is something I see a lot here and there Also, I would love if (yes) we could see more forms for the demonic form, but also I would really enjoy seeing more "demon hunter characters", that could bring new narratives and faces to the class Damn, Hearthstone has a whole expansion about a demon hunting crew defeating the "Rusted Legion". And the remains of the now uncontrolled Legion rearranged themselves into Outland and becoming the "Rusted Legion" could be a cool side story with a cool dungeon

Another great video! I've honestly considered this question a lot myself. From an rp standpoint, I consider my demon hunters to be on a bit of a journey of self discovery, reconnecting with Night Elf culture and finding their place in a post-legion world. I think this makes a lot of sense as a way for them to continue to fulfil their purpose!

Love to see new WoW content creators to watch, both of your videos have been a joy to experience.

I would love to see DH's exploring their purpose becoming fulfilled in a potential world revamp. Say they show up in Felwood, Blasted Lands, and other places known for having demons, and help reclaiming those places from them. While doing so, they can remark to the adventurers who take their quests that they aren't sure what they'll do once every demon is eradicated from Azeroth, and maybe offer some musings on the subject. Perhaps they can even find something during these quests that builds into their future. And I think there should totally be some DH's shown finding comradery in DK's and Dracthyr, as all three fall into the similar barrel of "our purpose is fulfilled and our creator peace out so now what."

Blizzard is so bad at satisfying these types of wants. It's odd. It's like they have so many interesting things like this to explore. Same for death knights. They got some shine in shadowlands, but like what the hell are they doing day to day? We just need follow ups on the little things in WoW like this. We either need some more demons to fight or we just need to get some bits of story about the illidari.

Love the presentation style of your videos and what looks like -including this video- a balance/focus on lore and the potential of lore regarding gameplay. My compliments! I would love to see connection between Demon Hunters BE & NE and Void Elves, and the Warlock class, specifically Warlock Blood Elves, Void Elves en Night Elves. I can see a connection and potential for further game/lore content there.

I think Monks face a similar issue (and warlocks did during the early parts of mop). Monks are so hard flavoured towards the themes of MoP that they stick out everywhere else. Maybe glyphs and a bit of lore rewriting can fix the issue. I would love to have the option to make my Brewmaster less silly and my windwalker into more of a brawler. Maybe we can shift Demon Hunters towards the demon within and make them like warlocks. I mean Priests and Paladins are basically two flavours of holy men. Why can't we have two flavours of "dabbles with dangerous powers". We also have hero Talents coming up. Maybe they use hero talents in a way like they did with order halls.

I actually feel that monks fit in everywhere by their lore. The Wandering Isle pandaren are adventurers. That’s the ultimate excuse to take a monk through any expansion. As for the monk themes, its impossible to be a monk without learning from a pandaren, so naturally every monk will use celestial abilities tied to the culture they learn from. I do think monks could use a graphics update, though.

I think about this every time I play my DH. I mean, I was wrongfully imprisoned for thousands of years. The founder of the Burning Legion was a Titan who forced his vision of Order on any world he came across. Razsageth and Co. are also fighting against a group of power-mad demigods who decided to transform the world's population and genocide the resistance (with multiple failsafes to genocide the entire population anyway). Are we really so different? Why am I fighting a bunch of stoners who want to return to nature? As for the Shadowlands business... why do I care about a human king who got himself abducted to the afterlife, especially when he refused to help avenge the loss of my people's new home? Sure I'd probably want to help out once I learned the world I love is in danger again, but what about the enemy I hate? The Legion has fallen, but in the power vacuum left by Sargeras there are bound to be multiple smaller self-styled warlords who would want to continue the Crusade. Besides, the world I knew is gone; Azeroth managed just fine without me. Why am I not hunting upstart demon warlords across the stars, comfortable in the knowledge that Azeroth is in good hands? I rather like the DH playstyle, but the longer I play the more I think about why it makes little sense for the character to be involved in the current expansion's antics. At least for my Death Knight I have the excuse that I'm still trying to live as I used to, as a humble jewelry maker and gem cutter, only with the occasional sanctioned murder spree to sate the red thirst. My Demon Hunter? Nothing without the hunt.

I think DHs have it easier than DKs. For though the Burning Legion is defeated, the demons itself never will be. Overconfident warlocks will still summon too powerful demon and fail to control them, which gets them killed or enslaved to do the demon's bidding - especially the Sayaad will dwell in the shadows, use illusions and form cults to strengthen their numbers and gather power. We saw one quest line in Legion where an undead woman got manipulated by a succubus to be her pawn. DHs can do what the Guardian of Trisifal did back in the days. DKs need to kill in order to stay sane, otherwise they'll go enrage due to "endless hunger." Or did Blizz silently uncanonise that?

While the specialist hunter/Batman archetype sounds the most logical, a Demonologist shapeshifter sounds a badass nearly corrupted "War Within" concept

Hi there! So, I've actually been in an RP guild that has focused on Demon Hunters since WOW first came out. I liked your video, but I would like to point out that even though Sargeras is in prison and his Burning Legion is hampered if not destroyed, Demons, the Fel, The Twisting Nether all continue to exist and are potentially a threat. Now that Sargeras and his Eredar lieutenants are no longer calling the shots, we may yet see some Fel pantheon reassert itself- or perhaps as someone else mentioned, maybe Sire Denathrius and the Nathrezim will take the lead. Personally, even though the demons are temporarily on hold, my night elf demon hunter has been busy defending her people in the War of Thorns, fighting N'Zoths influence, and then dealing with Zovall the Jailer. (She's taken a holiday during Dragonflight. If its not a potential apocalypses, she feels shes earned a little time off). My guild also has some long standing rp going where there is a... creepy void gate that a rival demonic force was tasked with guarding, and now that they dont exist anymore, its up to us. I would love a third spec for demon hunters, I think one that uses bows biased on the Diablo DHs has some merit, but that's just my opinion.

I wish blizzard made more class quests. Hell, continue the relevancy of class order halls (and make one for our drac friends and any future classes added) with quests, daily/weekly quests and maybe even world quests for each class. Imagine if demon hunters got (repeatable) quests where they have to hunt down stray demon packs that remain on azeroth. Paladins and death knights get sent to deal with scourge remnants. Druids have to go out and tend to nature on azeroth, and various micro factions wishing to threaten it, rogues get some espionage and assassination missions, hunters go out to do population control on various animals and take down especialy big beasts that threaten to disturb the balance and the people, and maybe do scouting missions of some sort, etc etc..

3rd spec- a ranged, aerial demon hunter! Maybe that could be the void one, de-emphasizing the metamorphisis element? Or perhaps a scythe-wielding support spec, like that blood elf who traps demons in gems in the DH intro quests? I love the druid, but demons idea as well.

The void thing got me interested and would be nice for DH to finally get a 3rd spec.

I think the idea of Demon Hunters being more like druids would be pretty cool. I don't think I would be too much work cause the demons are already in game with abilities. Maybe just pick a few, scale down the sizes, and maybe 1-3 abilities to nerf down for players to use.

I think its a bit of overthinking. Demon Hunters are quite literally, Hunters who happen to be Demons that became so to Hunt Demons. They can and will face any other threat to Azeroth, adventure around, do whatever other adventurers do. It is not an accident we saw a Demon Hunter pet trainer. They are on the exact same boat as Lightforged Draenei. But instead of being golden goats, they are Demonic Elves.

The real problem is that Blizzard KEEPS making this mistake. They did it with Death Knights (somewhat subverted in Legion, yes, but they again felt aimless in Shadowlands, THE Death Knight expansion XD ), then Demon Hunters, and now Evokers. The only post-launch class that makes sense to still be playable and around is Monk. Meanwhile, Tinkers are sitting RIGHT. THERE. And, with that, I'll say from now on WoW needs to be a lot more grounded about the classes they introduce. The super-strong, cosmic-powered hero classes need to be avoided so we don't have to keep talking about this every time one's been out for a couple expansions and their "purpose" has been fulfilled. But, it doesn't look like they've learned that lesson with the new hero specs that are set to premier in TWW.

After the little questline from the Emerald Dream, I’d love to see an ‘Elune infused/blessed’ version of Demon Hunters, that uses similar visuals to how Tyrande looked as the Night Warrior (especially in the Tyrande vs Sylvanas cinematic). Glowing white tattoos, fractured face markings etc. I know it doesn’t really translate to Blood Elves as well, but there could be a way to make it work.

Just new spec, voidhunter. Intro quest, you visit night elves, they drag you into the void and do some razzle dazzle and you come out with a new spec. Eeeeeasy

Rename the class to "Slayer", channel a bit of witcher vibe with a bit of 40k inquisitor sprinkled on top of it. Put more emphasis on the "hunter" part instead of "demon". While DKs are like the grim defenders, make DHs more initiative force, actively seeking and destroying potential threats to Azeroth. ....there could be some decent story telling potential there. Gameplay wise, the "demonic druid" idea seams nice. If not fully as a gameplay feature maybe atleast have the option to cosmeticaly alter visual effect of Metamorphosis (we spend half of combat time in it nowdays anyway) to mirror some demonic archetypes like fellguard, or succubus. Or maybe atleast have something like warrior stances or old hunter aspects. This might be kinda lame though in actual practice. Like rogue poisons..... everyone was so hyped about them coming back, but in the end its just a passive buff you forget to reapply every 60mins. Personaly, i would like a third spec for DH that would use a ranged weapon. Have it like a mix of affliction lock and survival hunter. It is likely never going to happen but i had this dream since the Legion came up, because i saw some concept art of DH having a bow. It might have been some early idea blizz had that got scraped, but would be great in-game i think.

DK also have the same problem, but I love imagining the Ebon Blade as a not faction-bound regulator who just fix shit in their own way. While nothing happens, they mostly just vibe in Acherus or do their own personal stuff. In my own toon's background, he became a sky serpent order member as a method to cope with trauma of two wars and being an undead killing machine.

Demonhunters were a class invented to hype "new class", but what it did was just take Warlock Spells to a much more simplistic and "unbalanced" class for hype. A Death knight was a well thought class, that entered the game as a playable class after being a NPC class for practically the whole game, just different in certain ways. Demonhunters were introduced only as "fan service" for "people to a discount bin Illidan". The same for Draktir, Dractir, or whatever they are called. People at wow now are "discount versions" of the people who made wow good. Literally. They are there because they "cost less" than keep the people who made wow good.

As I'm sure isn't a missed issue at this point, Demon Hunters being stuck with two specs is adding to the class's perception of being left behind. What is frustrating for me, however, is how many discussions on this end with "give them a ranged spec" or "give them a support spec", which not only do I disagree with due to how little sense they make based on the class's design, I still look at warriors and priests with their two melee DPS and two Healer spec designs and I ask "why are we over complicating this?" They just need a second melee DPS spec that is themed around consuming souls. Let this spec have access to both the Vengeance and Havoc demon forms in addition to their own exclusive demon that is based around felhunters and are less reliant on the blade dancer design that is Havoc's niche and you can basically have a melee DPS/emergency tank that is currently only really covered by Druids and Paladins (kinda). Leaving them with two specs as we head in to a three expansion saga that introduces hero specs that blur the lines between existing specs is only going to add to demon hunter frustrations. Incidentally, I'm also in favour of branching the class out to other races with alternative themes of empowerment, Tyrande in Shadowlands was basically an Elune empowered version of a Demon Hunter after all, but I am also in favour of fully embracing Illidari as their own race so we can have Warlocks and Warriors with their unique racial customisations, but since Blizzard are trying to get every class in to the hands of every race, Illidari Priests, whilst not an impossibility, is a step that requires more work than what has already been neglected for the class.

Second comment, love your main point titles "You are prepared!" Is perfect. And you cooked with the druid like aspect of Demon Hunters, being able to shape shift into different forms, or pull from different types of demons powers. So they could get a third specialization maybe. Love your concrete lore stuff, but you can't miss tbh when you do happen to be a bit more speculative. 🔥🔥🤌

I really think demon hunters should be a transformation class like druid, their specs really lack an identity, it just feels like, demon but tanky, or demon but fast.

I think a natural evolution to the Demon Hunters role in the Warcraft world (and not mutually exclusive with the "fel druids" thing) is as Wardens of any dangerous creature captured during expansion events, much like the Wardens once watched over them (and in fact could easily be orders that work together), as such they could have lots of opportunities to learn how to counter the Void or any other cosmological force for that matter.

I remember how I returned to WoW bc of the Demon Hunters. (I jumped off after Pandaria) Then I also remember how I jumped off again bc the lack of proper support for DH´s and Lore. (No I dont play WoW to grind out my sweaty ass in Raids or other sh*t I just wanna quest and enjoy some story.)

Truth of the matter is Illidan's "redemption" arc was an absolutely cringe story line. Also he was a demon hunter before consuming the skull of Gul'dan but Legion retconned the whole thing making them have to become half demon to become demon hunters. It was just a bunch of crap story to justify letting people play a unique class archetype.

Hopefully they bring back Illidan. My favorite character in wow.

If they ever revamp the old world again places like Felwood and the Blasted Lands will be great for telling new DH stories.

These Demon Hunters should be hunting out different challenges to keep them at the top of their game just incase the Burning Legion returns.

The demon hunters aren't specifically following a philosophy of "wield the enemy's power against them", more-so they simply acknowledged that the best tool to defeat demons -is- fel. So when preparing to battle the forces of the Void, they wouldn't need to embrace the Void necessarily in order to garner information, mainly because suffusing your soul to a demon's leaves you with dark thoughts and urges and whatnot, but it's far easier to overpower that inner voice than it is to endure the maddening whispers of the Void. Still, there already are demon hunters who wield some void-like powers, and we have examples of demon hunters NPCs who don't use glaives, like that one chick in the starting zone with the scythe. - It'd be a good chance to bring in a "void breaker" spec for demon hunters, could argue it as demon hunters who take a precarious approach of trying to put the influence of the void in conflict with the will of their inner demon. - Or maybe even have them purposefully giving their inner demon more reign in exchange for their willing assistance in battling the Void. After all, the Legion's purpose -was- primarily to battle the Void, so.. with no more Sargeras? It could work. - Give the demon hunters a new spec that's got awesome damage skills, uses primarily polearms instead of dual-wielding weapons, and doesn't give them as much mobility with dashes and leaps, but they have a rage-like mechanic where they are mostly stationary and deal -awesome- damage when they can sit still, however if they go overboard, and fill up their rage bar, they basically self-CC and inflict themselves with a debuff that reduces their damage for a while. Or it puts them in a frenzy where they get empowered auto-attacks but can't use abilities, and they just aggro onto the nearest enemy. Think of it a bit like Rumble in League of Legends needing to balance his heat gauge.

With how many people really enjoyed Corruptions in BfA, a spec that has to balance output with self-inflicted consequences could be fun!

Obviously Demon hunters are having R and R time, pool parties, bowling, Therapy sessions. Mourning of what they've lost.

Kinda like the men of letters from supernatural kinda vibe to them all the lore and stuff that they know

Well, the overarching goal of the demon hunters stopping the Legion, was to protect Azeroth. Just because the Legion was defeated, doesn't mean they should become inactive, after all danger will always be present on Azeroth. In-universe its also possible that the demon hunters venture beyond Azeroth in search of demons, but its just not focused on in the story. They could use the remaining technologies and strongholds of the Legion to reinforce Azeroth's defenses. WoW's lore was always a bit fractured, things that seem logical don't happen, while things that shouldn't, do. Its really inconsistent, based on Warcraft III, the entire faction conflict story through WoW's lifetime makes no sense for example.

Time for them to get a new spec so that they can hunt the Void, honestly bring back Illysanna Ravencrest as well and have the Illidari turn Black Rook Hold into their fortress.

I once thought there is nothing more irrelevant then DK after Worlk. DHs after Legion proved Me wrong.

Sire Denathrius & his dread lords are still alive. They maybe just as aimless as the undead in northrend without the Lych King. But there are machinations of the burning Leagion still on the board like the Scourge.

I really like the idea of the void hunters, but I think it could be more easily accomplished via a 3rd spec (maybe a ranged one? o.o)

They need to expand the race options for demon hunters and update their customization options. Add more tattoos demon horns and color variants.

Well they would have to rework warlocks because could you imagine how many demon hunters would just get enslaved by warlocks if the demon hunter shape shifted into a demon in PvP? I personally would think it would be funny and worth it for the laughs, but I can see a lot of edge lord demon hunters cutting themselves and running to the forums to cry about it

There is definitely a lot of ground for Blizzard to (re)cover regarding Demon Hunters. One of the first things is just a very generalised overview of "what have the Illidari been doing post Legion". Obviously the player character Demon Hunters have been involved with core expansion events, but as highlighted in this video and by many other content creators out there, there is a huge misconception that "the Legion is no more". The Burning Legion's leadership is absolutely crushed, with Kil'jaeden being truly dead and Sargeras isolated, and the unfortunately explained Archimonde that died in WoD being the same guy in both our and the Alternate Universe (fingers crossed on a retcon for that, especially since there wasn't really anything concrete in-game during WoD to back up that Afrasiabi interview). However, the idea that this immense army has somehow evaporated because of three leaders' deaths and the fall of Demon-held Argus is very short sighted. Yes, they will likely have fallen into disarray, with in-fighting and new factions etc, but they already conquered countless worlds already and have been scattered across the universe for eons now. Even with the loss/drastic reduction in their ability to resurrect, they're still a major threat that the Illidari can and should be primarily focused on, lorewise.

This has nothing to do with the story, but i would love a fel-caster spec for them. Destrolock is cool and all, but if you want fel spells, you gotta do the old pandaria book thing, and some of the spells have had their models updated in a while(the regular imps felfire ball is especially weird looking.)

I main a DH, so im pretty biased to their stories and how they are used in lore. Really hoping blizzard takes your advice and does something fresh and cool with them. If only so my char stops feeling out of place lol.

Love wow channels that aren’t also doomers. It’s very charming and keeps me loving the game.

Ay man I love the video but i gotta set you right on the Whole Death knights in Shadowlands thing. We were treated like a joke in what SHOULD have been. our second best expansion. Not only was the class itself completely unchanged despite being in the literal place we draw our power from. But our leaders who had been hyped up since Legion. Bolvar and the four horsemen do borderline NOTHING. They showed up to antorus and opened some death gates. If your thinking that because maybe you didnt play DK and we got some class specific quest chain that you guys missed? Nope. You saw it all. That was it. Darion and the four horsemen were simply forced to watch from the sidelines. Now i could have undertood if blizz had said that the deathknights were more susceptible to the jailors domination magic and we could potentially go right back under his mind control. as a reason for us keeping our distance from things. But that wasnt the case. They were left on the cutting room floor. all the build up from Legion was wasted. Bolvar the cover boy was sidelined. Shadowlands was a MESS. So i have to correct you. We were not important in the shadowlands. Unless your making a hilarious straight faced joke by showing DK's holding open a portal when you said that.... lmao.

I’m with you on the lore points, but from a gameplay perspective, demon hunter is one of the classes that “feels” the most different to play. The game play feel of DH is already different enough that adding other forms of demons and stuff would detract from the class feel. On lore points I agree though, they need a reason to still exist

Just make the 3rd spec for Demon Hunters, a Void Hunter.

06:24 In short... Warlocks. 06:36 Much like Warlocks and Warlock Grimoires. Warlocks are already salty with Demon hunters due to Bliz stealing Metamorphosis. You’re stealing more of Warlocks core essence and giving it to Demon hunters. Sure, have DH’s going Fel druid, but love needs to be given to Warlocks to compensate for DH’s stealing more of their core existence. Much like Hunters are a foil to Druids have Warlocks be able to tame and collect aberrations and low-sentience demons. Have Demonology be able to control the more sentient aberrations and demons then you have yourself a deal

I was honestly surprised that Void Elves couldn't be Demon Hunters. Blood Elves can be Demon Hunters, and Void Elves are just the Blood Elves that were trying to harness void power, which sound exactly like the kind of thing in which a Demon Hunter would have been interested in the aftermath of the Legion's defeat.

Demon Hunter's should get a third stealth spec that is Void hunting themed.

i think DH will get a buff spec like the evoker. and DH lore wise are defenders of there familys and azeroth. and thats it.

There are still alot of demons to Hunt. The legion still excist....

Seems the meaning behind "demon hunter" has changed from what they do, to what they are.
