You made me laugh saying Kevin didn’t get a chance to sing. Kevin is a genius with a drum kit is his mouth. His gifts are so numerous that I will list them He has perfect pitch, he is classically trained on the cello He invented cello/ boxing. Where he beat boxes and plays cello at the same time 🤯 He graduated pre med from Yale. He lived for a year and half in China and speaks Fluent Mandarin. He is a genius for real and a gift to all of us.

"Is my dog over there gonna get a chance?" - Your dog over there, Keven Olusola, is percussion. All of the beats and sound effects you hear in this song, and every other song, are ALL him. He's a genius-level beatboxer.... and celloist, but that's another story. He does sing sometimes and he has a lovely tenor voice. If you want to see him show off his beatboxing skills, listen to their Grammy-winning "Daft Punk Medley", if you want to hear him sing, try "Mary Did You Know?"

Kevin, (the black guy) is their beatboxer and doesn't always sing.. He is incredible! He sings on many of the songs and also plays cello occasionally. He had just finished his first year as a pre-med student at Yale University when Pentatonix approached him to join them in 2011. He speaks several languages (including Mandarin) and has his own channel.. Kevin Olusola They each have side projects.. 3 of them grew up together. The only change in the group in 11 years is the bass singer.. Avi (guy with beard) to Matt in 2017. Wonderful group! They love each other like family..

Don't worry about Kevin he is the worlds hardest working beat boxer he sings plays multiple instruments sold out Carnegie Hall Solo speaks 7 languages and was a international Ivy League Road Scholar studying medicine at Cambridge & Harvard & makes us all feel like massive underachievers . But we love him anyway

Pentatonix has 3 Grammy wins in their earlier years. This one has over 665 million views but it was not a Grammy win for the group. Daft Punk (medley) was the first Grammy win, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy ( no words...no problem for PTX) their second Grammy win and a collaboration with Dolly Pardon of Jolene was the third Grammy win. They do both covers and originals. They are a diverse group and when they come together in song their voices are angelic and on another level. They are all musical geniuses yet remain humble and down to earth. Please react to Daft Punk and you will experience the amazing rhythm section of the basso profundo Avi (pronounced Ah-vee) Kaplan and the beatboxer extraordinaire Kevin Olusola at their finest. Imagine is another excellent choice. Kevin sings in this one and he is a tenor. I hope you will continue down the PTX rabbit hole. You will not be disappointed and the fans (a.k.a. Pentaholics) are amazing and will support you 100%.

This song is actually a cover of a 1984 Leonard Cohen tune. He reputedly wrote over 80 verses for this song. It's meant to describe that "many kinds of hallelujahs do exist, and all the perfect and broken hallelujahs have equal value."

Kevin (absolutely INCREDIBLE beatboxer, cello player, and speaker of several languages to name only a tiny part of who he is..) He does sing (tenor) on many songs and also has his own channel (Kevin Olusola).. He usually is busy with beatboxing. He joined PTX at their start instead of going back to school at Yale where he just finished his first year as a pre-med student. Some people research ahead of time and it doesn't take away from what they SOUND like.. ..but NO big deal.. You'll probably enjoy researching them a little when you fall in love with them. They have 11+ years of covers and originals to go through.. all of them incredible.. it's been said "they don't do covers.. they do upgrades!" They get better all the time.. they have also set the bar for all a capella groups now.

Kevin, the beatboxer is so busy providing the percussion and beat that he seldom gets a chance to show off his beautiful tenor voice. But when he does, It is beautiful. I think you might like their "Evolution" covers. You could start with Evolution of Rhianna. You might also like their covers of Havana, or New Rules X Are You That Somebody. I subbed in hopes that you will continue to react to this awesome Acapella group.

The tall blonde, 1 st guy singing is Scott, he is a baratone but has a huge range and sings bass when the bass is singing a solo part. Second guy with log dark hair is Avi, the bass. he left the group in 2017 for family health reasons. The ONLY one to have left the group. The female, mezzo soprano, is Kirsten or Kirstie (rhymes with thirsty). She changes looks and hair color a lot. The guy with hat, Mitch, is a high tenor and has the voice of an angel, also changes looks ALOT. If you have to ask is that Mitch, it is. The beatboxer is Kevin, also plays cello. He plays cello in a handful of songs. The new bass that started in 2017 (so, not really new is Matt. It is all their voices unless you see an instrument. They on ocassion have collabed with people who have had instruments, again you will see the instruemnts if used. The "trio" Mitch, Scott and Kirstie went to high school together They put the group together in 2011 to be on the show on the sing off and found Kevin and Avi. They met the day before auditions and went on to win. They won $200,000 and a recording contract with Sony, who then a week later after they moved to LA, dropped them because they said a capella would never be popular. They decided to do it on their own on KZread and kicked ass. Eventually picked up by another label. Have since won 3 grammys and have not looked back. LOL there ya go. There are several songs you can hear Kevin/beatboxer sing. Their cover of Imagine, and their original Sing are a couple. Also their cover of Mary Did You Know.

The entire song is about how a broken relationship affects someone. The line, "all I ever learned from love is how to shoot somebody who outdrew you" refers to lashing out before the other person gets a chance to hurt you. The lyrics are all brilliant.

Who broke your throne and cut your hair?

  • @DavidSprings

    @DavidSprings

    2 ай бұрын

@@ccormx That's a jumble of the Bible stories of David and Bathsheba and of Samson and Delilah. David saw Bathsheba bathing on the roof and her husband, Uriah, served David (Israel) as a soldier. David kept sending Uriah into battle in hopes he'd be killed and so Bathsheba would be a widow he could take for his own, rather than a married woman that was forbidden to him. Likewise we have the story of Samson, who wanted Delilah. Samson's strength was in his long hair, and Delilah conspired with Samson's (Israel's) enemies to seduce him and cut his hair and rob him of his strength. In both cases, the desire for a woman led to the tragedies in the men's personal and public lives from then on. David's throne (his kingdom) was a mix of both brilliance and sad consequences, and Samson went from an undefeatable warrior to a blind slave, made to serve his enemies by grinding grain in the place of an ox. TLDR: Bathsheba broke David's throne, and Delilah cut Samson's hair.

"That doesn't seem like a healthy relationship." BINGO. That is what this song is about, a very unhealthy relationship. People sometimes get confused because Cohen uses quite a bit of Biblical imagery, but what this song is about is the end of a toxic relationship.

I really enjoyed your reaction, Marqus! "Hallelujah" has so many lyrics that have been added over the years since its first writing; some uplifting and some sad and depressing, like the bit you noticed where "all I ever learned from love was how to shoot somebody who outdrew you" and "it's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah." I think it's saying that even in your lowest, most miserable circumstances and even if you're not sure anymore that it'll do any good, you can still say a prayer to a higher power ("Hallelujah" literally means "praise God"), even if you have to croak the words out.

These are people who did not let anyone tell them that they could not chase their dreams.trust me. They won an accapella singing contest that gave them a recording contract and the label dropped them the week after but they continued to grind putting videos up on you tube and built their fan base that way. They are now living their dream. The bass singer left to go solo in 2017. The new bass actually had dreamed of being in PTX for years so his dream came true as well. You might want to try their covers of "imagine" and "shallow".

Reaction suggestion, in addition to Pentatonix (any of their videos are AWESOME, by the way): if you've not seen it before, take a peek at "Old Movie Stars Dance to Uptown Funk" here on KZread. It's dance clips from movie musicals of decades ago, precision-synchronized to the song. JAW-DROPPING. And near its end is a clip from "Jumpin' Jive Cab Calloway and the Nicholas Brothers" which is also on KZread and features the entirety of the Nicholas Brothers' incredible dance acrobatics. Watching it will make you cringe and wonder how they have any boy bits left!

If you want to see them when they were first “babies” try Evolution of Michael Jackson. I also like Daft Punk Melody that they won a Grammy for I believe. Yeah, they were hot! It was meant for release as part of a Christmas album, so they are all bundled up, but between shots, they had to have their faces mopped up and drink the water, because yeah, it's a desert. The original song was by Leonard Cohen, a Jewish Canadian, and he uses Bible references to express the extremes of a dire romantic relationship, so you are completely right about that. Kevin Olusola (beatboxer) has a very pretty voice, but he's the only one who does what he does, so he rarely gets a chance to sing. You can see him harmonizing on this one, in the beginning, before he starts the body percussion. But check out Amazing Grace - he has a solo, and a key one (wait for it), as well as their cover of John Lennon's Imagine. Also, you can see/hear him play the cello and beatbox at the same time in Radioactive, Say Something (with a bonus little vocal solo at the end), and Shallow.

My Dawg. Hahaha... Kevin! Merry Christmas from the Holy Land - Utah. If you want your Pentatonix mind to be blown (yes, you said it correctly) you've gotta' check out their Daft Punk medley as well as Bohemian Rhapsody. Much 💕 love.

Kevin (beatboxer) is amazingly talented. If you want a glimpse into what he can do, check out some of his solo work. Highly recommend his KOver of 'Down'. It's a rollercoaster ride.

Kevin Olusola (KO) is a beautiful singer and gets parts in a lot of songs, but beat boxing is his thing mostly. He also plays the cello and is a genius, so don't count him down. Every Pentaholic loves Kevin.

Reading about their accomplishments is not cheating but listening to anything they’ve recorded BEFORE reacting to would, in my opinion, be cheating.

Welcome to the PTX rabbit hole! Just subbed in hopes that you can make more PTX reactions. And Kevin, the beatboxer, doesn't sing often as he is busy making the beats! 😅 But he does have nice solos in Mary Did You Know and at the end of Amazing Grace My Chains Are Gone. And ge has a rap segment in Sing. The fans (Pentaholics) are a loyal bunch and will love it if you create a PTX Playlist! 🙂🤗💕

First attempt at their name was wrong but nailed it afterwards. Kevin the beat boxer doesn't sing often because of his beat boxing work, but he did start singing more especially the inspirational songs. If you continue following them then I welcome you to the Rabbit Hole, its a Hell of a Ride.

Welcome to the PTX rabbit hole. I loved your reaction. I subbed to see more PTX reactions. Do Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone), The Prayer and Bohemian Rhapsody. It is amazing what this group can do and they are all so versatile. One of my favorites is Sound of Silence where we get to enjoy Scott's baritone voice. They are all so multitalented that you forget there are no instruments used unless Kevin (beatboxer) is playing the cello or Scott (tall blonde) is playing the piano. They make all the sounds with their voices and don't do anything that can't be done in a live show. They sound just as good live. There has only been one change and Avi left in 2017 and Matt took over the base sounds and he has a beautiful voice. People often think there are new group members because Mitch (big hat) and Kirstie always change their looks. Welcome to the beautiful world of Pentatonix. Check out Kevin singing and playing cello (looping). kzread.info/dash/bejne/e3ueyZNyY8uaf84.html
