The 70s had so many good love songs. But now my fav songs are bout the Lord Jesus Christ He has given me so much peace Known that he died for every ones sins past present and future. taking every one's shame and guilt we have ALL SINED AND FALL SHORT. But only if you put ALL YOUR trust in him alone, He was the one that died a horrible death to cover all our sins past present and future Because sin cannot be in Heaven. I hope he gives you peace knowing you don't have to go to Hell for ever but be with in Heaven for ever with him. This is the best news you will ever hear.

Lance Hoppen, original co-founding member of Orleans, here. Thanks so much for posting and LOVING this song! I was 18 when the band started. I'll be 69 in January. So nice to know fresh ears still respond so well to Still the One. Yes, it was a top 5 hit in '76, became the ABC TV theme song for '77-'78 and since then has been used in countless local and national TV/radio commercial campaigns, movies, TV shows and even political campaigns (both major parties). Probably why Amber said it sounded "familiar" :-) The stellar lead singer was my older brother, Larry, who passed suddenly in 2012. The co-writer (along with his former wife and writing partner, Johanna Hall) was John Hall. Guitars were by John and Larry, who also played the Fender Rhodes piano. The band has been through many changes over the years yet we still perform live now and into 2023, at least. You can find a wealth of video at our OrleansOnline channel, learn anything you might want to know about our history at OrleansOnline.net and interact with us on Facebook at Orleansmusic. Thanks again!

John Hall of Orleans explained how the song came to be written in the liner notes to the Best of Orleans CD: "A friend of ours was going through a divorce and asked Johanna (Hall's wife and lyricist) to write a song about a couple staying together. So she did, and she handed me the finished lyric on the back of an envelope and said, 'Do you think you can do anything with this?' I wrote the music to it in 10 minutes, which was a good sign." In the late '70s, ABC's slogan was "Still The One," and the network used different versions of this song in their promotional campaigns. Many renditions were recorded by studio singers - often with female vocalists - for the spots.

1976 soft rock. American band Orleans co-founder, the late Larry Hoppen, sang lead. The lyrics of the up tempo love song are of a man describing his feelings for a woman with whom he has a long lasting intimate relationship ("You're still the one, I want to talk to in bed; Still the one that turns my head") and all the reasons why she is "Still the One" for whom he has feelings. "DANCE WITH ME." Another great song by them!!

I tend to agree with you (wait for it) but the thing is that all singers have used reverb, distortion not to mention microphones and amps to "modify" the sound of their voice. Even Michael Buble a man that can sing mentioned in an interview that he had to use autotune on one song on his latest release because the audience likes the way it sounds. I don't have the time to go into how fd up that is but he said it.

Someone may have already mentioned this: the song “Still The One” by Orleans was used by the ABC television network to promote their programming back around 1977. During that timeframe, ABC had been flying high in the ratings and so the title of the song was used to underscore the fact that ABC was “still the one” to watch. Some of those ABC promotional ads are posted on KZread, so you can do a search for those. Here is a long-form version of the ad that ABC used to kick off their affiliates meetings: kzread.info/dash/bejne/iqKJpdmHmNGxl5c.html

The 70's was a magical time when quickly evolving record producing technology met talented musicians and beautiful music was made. This is a reaction channel, one of many; mostly done by a generation of listeners that, we're toddlers, small children or not even born at the time these great artists were in their prime. It is very annoying when someone criticizes the hosts, for "their"reaction. To interject informative facts about the band, is great! If you want to give your own reaction; go get your own channel.

Orleans is an American pop rock band best known for its hits "Dance with Me" (No. 6 in 1975); "Still the One" (No. 5), from the album Waking and Dreaming (1976); and "Love Takes Time" (No. 11 in 1979). The group's name evolved from the music it was playing at the time of their formation, which was inspired by Louisiana artists such as Allen Toussaint and the Neville Brothers. Orleans was formed in Woodstock, New York in January 1972.

Listen to Chris Izaak- Wicked Game It is such a beautiful song with his angelic but haunting voice and then the falsetto he hits is amazing and beautiful guitar too. It is so alluring and just pulls you in. Do the original black and white video with the model in it. Anything I say now will not do this song justice. This was an 80s song that women swoon over and they are just mesmerized by his voice. It was used in Calvin Klein and fragrance commercials it was so powerful. Get ready for the Amber sway for this one!
