This Was a Terrible Idea...

I'm back in Portugal and trying to figure out the balance in my life as a photographer and just a regular dude with a coffee business.

It's definitely been an adjustment not living in my same apartment in Lagos. But, it doesn't change the fact that there are still so many beautiful photography locations to work with. In this episode, I literally wandered in front of my current apartment to take pictures of Dona Ana Beach.

    I follow you since many years and I always find how brilliant you are by reinventing yourself, as a Portuguese I'm very happy to have people like you in my country, doing the good for it. The shop looks great and you deserve all the success. Good luck Brendan for your business and your personal life to. Stay strong!

    You should put dozens of your photos on the walls and counters. Even just smaller prints , Maybe make your own post cards? All saying on a little notice on each one, Where you took them and they are for sale at a reasonable price.. Thanks for the videos been watching you for years and wish you all the best

    Hi! I do that. Although I'm slacking on getting the inventory out to the spaces.

    I think it is amazing that you got all that renovation done in such a short time! You don't give yourself enough credit Brendan. You WILL NOT be one of those people sitting around when they are 70-80 or 90 years old wondering why they did not do this or do that? Sometimes it is hard but you are living you best life. Enjoy it!

    I'm a canadian, and I visited your coffee shop on either November 17 or 18, must've been right after you reopened after your renovation. You were at the store when I happened to visit. I remember listening to you talk to your staff about making sure the walls were clean, because you weren't very busy in November. I've watched your content on KZread for years, it was neat to see you in the flesh, and it's lucky that it seemed to be right after the coffee shop was renovated.

    Coffee shop and Lagos look amazing. I am curious to see where you end up living. We visited Lisbon several times, but I don't think I could live in such a big city; I need the nature around me. Most important thing is that it feels like home, and the rest will follow. I imagine it will be easier to visit the rabbits when you're still close to them? Anyway, good luck with everything!

    I definitely don't have the balls to do what you do, but I love your go for it attitude and the remodeled coffee shop looked great, maybe instead of a contractor you should become an interior designer, you know the coffee shop always needs more pictures on the walls 🤣🤣🤣👍👍

    The beach in front of your apartment collapsed a few days ago... in Pinhão, be careful with photography in that surrounding area. Next week I'm going to Iberlagos to do a survey for a maintenance proposal for the elevators. This area is beautiful, enjoy it but don't take too many risks. One of these days I'll have a coffee in the studio. It's funny to see someone from this "KZread photography world", living in our backyard.

    From an algarvio belive me, living in lisbon is stressful. I was born in faro and lived there till i was 30, then i lived in lisbon for a year and almost all your free time is used on traffic, loads of ppl everywhere and it seems everybody's a bit more rough. Then i lived in lagos, tavira and now Quarteira. The weather, the proximity of my job and even the landscapes are nicer to photograph (despite the constant blue lifless sky), but i wouldnt go back. The cafe's looking great, i'll have to pay you a visit one if these days.

    @@BrendanvanSon If I'd have to move Somewhere around Lisboa I would choose Sintra. More of my kind of place, lots of green around and it's near to Lisboa. One thing though, business might be better for you, both in the café and photo workshops as well. Whatever you choose I wish you the best of luck. Cheers

    Did Jody kick you out of YOUR apartment? Are you going to sell it and split the money ? Not fair if she stays in the apartment you bought together and you have to move out.

    No, not like that at all. Jodie and I have a fair agreement on how we live and manage our property (and businesses). Have no fear, I'm good. And we still have a great relationship (just a different one).

    Expat is an immigrant with money...

  • @BrendanvanSon

    @BrendanvanSon

    5 ай бұрын

    Unfortunately that's what people think. Some people call themselves "expats" because they don't want to be immigrants. But the reality is it's all language. An expat - for example, still uses their bank account from their home country, pays taxes at home, maybe even has a house at home. An immigrant uses local banking, is a resident, and has severed financial ties to their home country. It's that simple - although people definitely use the terms wrongly.
