How a Photographer Takes a Holiday in Santorini
As a travel photographer, you probably think my life is a holiday. But in Santorini, I took as close to a vacation as you'll ever find me take.
I should mention, that I did not really love #santorini the first time I visited. But this time, my mind was turned a bit. I guess maybe I went wrong season last time, or had some expectations in my head. Or, I just struggled as a photographer. This time, the travel photos felt like they flowed really naturally in Santorini, and I think the fact that I was on holiday made it a lot more stress-free.
Overall, I really loved going out and wandering around Santorini with my camera. And I do think some of the photos came our pretty nicely!

Enjoy your holidays and relax. Simply enjoying yourself is so important, the world is already stressful enough. Enjoy the island 😄😄
We’ve been on top of the Skaros Rock twice. The view was worth the climb.
It's not just camera batteries that need recharged and good to see you getting some quality 'you' time BvS. Photography to me is not just about the travelling, the gear and the images, it's also a state of mind as it projects a feeling of contentment to enable me to be at ease with myself. I totally relate to what you were saying and hopefully your time away has given you the headspace you were needing.

Definitely needed to recharge a bit tbh haha
I loved Santorini and look forward to a chance to get back to photograph it. Looks easy to get lost walking around though. All the buildings look the same! haha
This is the type of video of yours that really hits home with me Brendan. Love it

Thanks, glad you like it Craig.
I like your crazy glasses and the photos. Mostly I love watching your videos for the "chill" and "enthusiasm" factor you always bring.

Such a stunning destination! Really nice views and shots, Brendan. Enjoyed seeing your process 🤩
Brought back many memories of Santorini, your enthusiasm reminded me of mine. It is a wonderful place to chill out and take photos, and I do agree the blue skies, and the white buildings are something very striking. and magical.

I think it was one of my mistakes photographing Santorini the first time - trying to photograph sunset and sunrise. You almost need the blue skies here.
Lol. I just finished watching your previous Santorini videos. This is great timing for my upcoming trip. Thanks.

It definitely helps!
Been to Santorini as a stepping stone to other islands. Usually visit early May to catch the wonderful flower display on island such as Kythnos. Even in early May, Santorini was WAY too busy for a couple of oldies such as my wife and I. Once the cruise ships arrive, the place becomes crammed with sweating bodies. Oia was so packed, I couldn't wait to catch the bus back to Fira. Took a great image of the Skaros rock, unfortunately there were a number of models posing for those pesky Instagram images that spoiled the end result. Can't wait to see you touring Serifos. Called in at Sikinos and Sifnos on other tours of the islands.
Was it intentional to wear the "blue roof" colored hat to Santorini? :P I always think it's wild that all the photos are of the "blue rooftops" but there are soooooo few of them. Now that is when I'd want to be there, when there crowds were not!
Last year, I finally got to Italy. Maybe Greece next year. Thanks for the inspiring content!

You'd love Greece!
Going to Athens and going to do some island hoping in 2 weeks. So excited! I keep rearranging my camera bag almost everyday trying to decide what lenses to actually bring.

Hahaha, not going to happen. I need sleep. haha
They may not have a specialty coffee place, but I'm sure there's a shop that has an assortment of different sunglasses. 😎 Frankly, I don't believe anyone would have commented about yours if you hadn't brought it up. Carry on. 👍🥂

Agreed. I thought putting out that information concerning the house sharing situation was totally unnecessary. That being said, thanks for sharing your photography journey.

Your sunglasses are fine. I am squinting from the brightness in the video, in real life it looks painful. Good to see you feeling more relaxed.
i feel an artist should be free from all obligation thats where best work comes...thats all the great artist doesnt have a dedicated lifestyle
I'm just saying - sometimes, if you turn your hat around, it might help with the squinting! 😆

hahaha. Sadly with the white buildings the light is at every angle.
I would say come to Croatia, but it's not gonna be cheap 😂 although it should be getting cheaper from this summer onwards because the greedy locals finally got burned (the basically live the whole year out of summer rent, without actually having a job But Greece is absolutely beautiful. Enjoy! 😊

It's funny, my plan was actually to go to Croatia - I love it. But the flight was cheaper to Greece so that made my choice.

@@BrendanvanSon Understandable 😃 and now they're just gonna get more expensive. There's always another year 😜 I was in Greece a few weeks ago, been waiting to go back for about 8-9 years. 13€ flight from Cro (but the capital, probably more expensive from the coast) and pure happiness 😁
Jeez, you have a beautiful island and a load of people come along on a floating gin palace and leave the engine running……..😣
