What's tiring is that not having an stance (sometimes for the valid reason of "I don't know enough to form one") is seen as agreeing with the "enemy" of whoever asked for such stance. It's even more tiring to be expected to be experts on all issues all the time. It's impossible at best and anxiety/stress inducing at worst. Even if you want to be an activist, it's more effective to focus on one core issue than to spread your time and energy over all issues.

This makes so much sense, and it reminds me of another thing that fits perfect with this model. I usually take the neutral position on a lot of divisive thought germs, and one thing I have notice is the one side or the other trick makes the thought germs fight harder against resistant minds. Both sides of the virus get angry that you aren't infected and try to make you angry yo pick a side.

Nobody in modern politics argues accurately. I very rarely see people arguing against the true beliefs of an opposing viewpoint. Instead they attack an outrageous strawman which completely bypasses the logic of the true belief. Best example is abortion. Pro-life argues that "The pro-choicers are MURDERING CHILDREN! They are BLOODTHIRSTY and inhumane." Pro-choice argues "The pro-lifers are MISOGYNISTS who oppose abortion because they want to CONTROL WOMEN!" Not one person actually addresses the true divide in opinions, which is whether or not a human fetus constitutes a human being. If THAT were the focus of conversation, maybe we could actually get somewhere TOGETHER, but instead we're gridlocked by manufactured outrage.

It's more like the opposite. One of the things about depressed people is that they have limited neurogenesis, which means they become incapable of forming new thoughts so their mind basically get stuck in a loop they can't get out of. They become more or less incapable of accepting new thoughts, they only accept thoughts that conform to ideas they already have. Tell a depressed person why and how things are not so bad the only thing they'll do is find a reason why it is and why that person is wrong and stupid and just trying to hurt them and so on, they can't accept the idea because they're not forming new neurons, or at least a lot less of them than regular people, and will therefore never see things from a new perspective. Why this happens nobody knows. But that's what medication tries to do, basically kickstart neurogenesis. But without it being combined with therapy/spiritual guidance they'll just create new depressing thoughts, so they'll need someone to guide them in order to form more positive ideas going forward.

Now did CGP Grey make this video due to the dress debate, because he says that it takes him forever to make a video. Or did he predict the dress debate. Or did CGP Grey start the dress debate to make this video inherently relevant. It's official, CGP Grey has become the internet, and actually controls everything we see and post. CONFIRMED.

I swear, the comments for this video are some of the CALMEST and happiest I've ever seen for any KZread comments section. It's as if everyone is consciously AVOIDING getting angry just to prove the video wrong about them. Even the "angry" comments you see here aren't actually angry. They're just jokes poking fun at anger, itself. Hell, even trolling is virtually nonexistent! That is, I barely see ANYONE in the comments saying anything that's INTENDED to bait other people into angry arguments. I only see "pretend trolls" here, which are basically just people who are PRETENDING to be trolls and have no real intention of instigating angry responses as real trolls would. *The title of this video should be called "Reverse Psychology" because that's exactly what it is -- getting people to avoid anger by telling them they will be angry.*

What the Helix did you just fucking say about me, you little ledge? I’ll have you know I graduated last in my class at Silph Co, and I’ve been involved in prolonged erratic walking within Rock Tunnel, and I have over 300 confirmed saves per minute. I am trained in sand attack warfare and I’m the top tree cutter in the entire Helix Fossil armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another TM. I will toss you away with a lack of precision the likes of which has never been seen before, mark my 10,000 fucking words. You think you can get away with pressing the start button over the Internet? Think again, Eevee. As we speak I am spamming chat to gather my secret network of 'b' spammers across Kanto, and your Pokemon ID is being traced right now so you better prepare for the Pidgeot, you Dome fossil. The Pidgeot that blows away the pathetic little thing you call your sanity. And trust me, Now's not the time to use that , kid. I can be anywhere but where you want me to be, and I can solve puzzles in over seven hundred thousand steps, and that’s just with my thousands of bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in cutting tress in under 4 hours, but I have access to Jay Leno and I will use it to its full extent to push you off various ledges, you little Kabuto. If only you could have known what unholy frustration your little “start” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have prayed to the almighty Helix Fossil. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying with nuggets, you idiot. I will release vital Pokemon from the PC all over you and you will drown in it. You’re fucking tossed, Dome Fossil.

It keeps me humane and able to empathize with people who have fallen victim to this stuff, on every side of every passionate argument. This video is truly a masterpiece @CGP Grey, never forget you made this incredible revelation of a video, Grey. It should be shown in schools, on every forum, before you can create a FB or Reddit account, etc. This and 7 ways to maximize Misery have quite literally changed my life. At this point I have showed this to at least 200 people, some close to me, some not. I will never stop linking this to people. Thanks.

The very idea of a meme is that ideas really can't be "stolen" as opposed to "shared" if things like that happen. I'm not sure if Dawkins legitimately stole the idea or put his own take on it, but he made a meme out of describing memes if it was the latter.

And the biggest issues with the theory of memetics are: No physical, measurable explanation for the proposed phenomenon The mutability of thoughts are such that a stable descent is not possible, and thoughts mix in ways not applicable to reproduction/genetics/population curves. (If they were, a human could mate with a fly, and get a cow) Folkloristics and other such fields make models and setups more comprehensible and useful than those proposed after Dawkins's memetics
