I had a pet house spider once, named Yoyo. I would sit down at my computer, and Yoyo would come down off his web and go straight for my hand every time. He'd just sit on my hand and stare up at me. When I gently scooted him off my hand, he would crawl right back up into his web, only to do it all over again every time. He lived for about 2 months from when I first met him, and when he died, I cried. He was a good spider. RIP Yoyo.

I promise I get to a relevant point! We adopted an eastern box turtle that had been wrongfully removed from the wild to be a "pet", but they didn't take proper care of him (maybe, we now think actually a her) & then abandoned by its "family" at age 1. He needed lots of TLC & rehab with the right food, terrarium, lights, etc. to fix his shell, claws, beak, etc. Poor guy was in rough shape, awful calcium deficiency & sinus/eye infection! Not sure how he survived, as he was our 1st turtle rehab, with no experience! Idk what we're gonna do with this damn turtle, but we love him! Lol He's gonna need a huge protected pen built in our basement or back yard soon, as he gets too big for an aquarium & needs space to dig & hibernate. We may release him next summer to his original birth place (local set of woods this girl stole him from) But he's so social now & curious about us, idk If I can release him. I worry he's too trusting of crappy humans now, or too domesticated. I thought our box turtle was odd, then I saw OTIS, a similar E.Box Turtle on Garden State Tortoise YT channel. He also follows his people around, likes nose bumps, watches TV, seems very curious & aware, climbs up the guy (I forgot his name, maybe Chris?) Anyways, I can't believe biologists haven't seen this behavior yet. Unless it's one of those, "we see what we want in animals behavior". Maybe it's a survival skill, or maybe they really are cuddly, not sure! Anyways, it's super sweet & cool to see! One last thing, PLEASE everyone never take an animal from the wild for a pet, I don't care if your child begs u! Let me make this blunt, u will probably kill the creature! Even if u don't, most of these animals are too hard to care for in a normal sized home. There's a reason it's actually illegal in most states to take a box turtle from the wild, own, sell, etc! We technically are legal, as my state allows up to 8 wild turtles be taken per year, barring snappers. But the states surrounding me, shelters won't even take him because it's illegal to even own one just next door to me in Ohio! These animals suffer when they're taken! No one ever plans it either, they don't go out & buy the proper substrate, lights, food, etc. People don't even stop to think, how big will this turtle get, can it live inside year round, does it hibernate?? If u don't have answers to those questions, everything it needs in close access, money for it, time, space, a full understanding of the care & husbandry, & a REALLY good reason to trap(like injury, etc.), then DON'T! Watching our guy learn to walk on DIRT at already a year old, was heartbreaking! The person who took it, assumed box turtles were aquatic, like sliders or something! He was kept in a lot of standing water, forced to take long "swims", etc. His legs aren't right, nails, etc. It's not ok, just leave them alone!
🤗💕🐢They are VERY capable of showing AFFECTION, the problem is not them but the humans that expected otherwise.

Knew of a guy that had a pet snake. Snakes are probably one of the last animals one would expect to be affectionate, but the snake seemed to like the guy and the guy loved the snake very dearly. They definitely did have a bond. Unfortunately, that had a tragic ending though. He was deployed for a few months and came back just to find that the friend that was supposed to have been taking care of his snake had literally let the snake starve to death. Dude was devastated. Hmm. I wonder how he's doing now because I think it's been a couple years at this point since it happened.
@Gasp7000

@@YouKnowMeDuh That’s too bad. I don’t like poisonous snakes, but we used to play with the little harmless baby water snakes in the Utah Rocky mountains at my grandfather’s sheep camp, not the same as the eastern water snake that’s poisonous. They would roll around and round our hands endlessly and loved being held. They actually had the little faces like a turtle, but round eyes. If you look into the face of a poisonous snake, they look sneaky and mean. Still, there is something bazaar about the design of a snake and maybe it has to do with temporary lessons of adversity during mortality. Ancient script says this is supposed to change to 100% friendly and non-carnivorous at some point. A child will be able to play safely around a snake’s den, the lion will not eat the lamb, etc. I imagine we, too, will no longer have mortal needs like we do now. The continents are supposed to return to one continent, too, we just have to watch a see.

This was my original comment to this clip: ((It's not out of the ordinary at all. And I sincerely doubt that multiple biologists are trying to seek him out. I've had the same species of turtle as this since I found him freshly hatched when I was 14 years old. That was 30 years ago and I still have him. For decades he has always had his aquarium next to the door. Whenever I walk into the house he wags his entire shell like a dog wagging its tail and is up against the glass waiting on me to rub his head. He even has his own toothbrush I use to scratch and rub his shell with when I'm cleaning him. And he follows me around happily. This is not unusual behavior. So stop making up fake stories about biologists and such for likes. You can find many videos on youtube of turtles and tortoises following people. A turtle will easily do this if it gets enough attention and affection from it's owner. And it's even more common if you raise them from the hatching age.)) I hate when people make up and add fake stories to simple clips to make them seem extraordinary just for likes and attention. If he hadn't created his fake narrative then it'd be a simple video of a captive turtle exhibiting common behavior. But no, he knows morons are subscribed to him and these morons believe everything at face value.

@@GMS-ChaabarYakalATLfor you it's life long. Turtles don't age. They just die of diseases or infection. It will out live you if you take care of it. They have this DNA or trait that slows aging in turtles. The longest living turtle lived for 200 years. Even if you live beyond 100 still the turtle will outlive you. Hence it's only half life relationship for the turtle.
This just proves most animals will crave affection once shown love from humans. So sweet!!

Its a reptile thats why its being treated as strange. Reptiles are way less likely to display these emotions or traits, which has been linked to how their brains are structured. Most animals do not crave human affection. Bacteria makes up 15% of the earth's biomass I believe. I know that the bacteria doesnt care lol (in ur pfp, ur hair looks super good, SLAY )
Pets can sense their owners who genuinely love them

@@percy.garou1001reptiles do infact feel emotions, thats obvious by now. my turtles gte scared shitless when they see a stranger whether its an animal or human (they dont get scared of new turtles tho) they dont get scared of me. thats trust. however whether they feel love or not is not proven and is an understudied matter, so do not say its a fact but an assumption
Isn't this just precious ?! The turtle knows the affections of its owner I'm loving it turtles are so adorable 🐢🤗💕👍🏼
That is so unbelievably adorable! I learn so much about turtles, each day!
That's a fast little turtle!!! 🐢
My red eared slider does the EXACT same thing! He seeks me out, has a fascination with looking into our eyes, comes when we tap our fingers on our tile floors, begs to be picked up and CARESSES OUR FACES WITH HIS CLAWS. He refuses to be in a tank, he's a free range turtle and loves to cuddle and sleep IN OUR BEDS! We thought he was the only one! We've even thought about making him his own channel because his behavior is so different from that of most reptiles. He literally chases us through the house for affection. He also loves to watch TV lol. He's like my little sea puppy lol. We love him very much and he's a a very beloved part of our family.

@Skynet Exactly. Their emotions are different to our and work different to ours. That doesn't mean that they don't have them or feel them, they just experience and show them in a different way. Just cus a creature has gone down a different evolutionary path to us does not make them in any way inferior.

Yes! I wish more ppl would realize that many feral cats can and do become family cats. Our formerly feral cat now is a social and loving member of our family. It took time and patience but so worth it!
When I was young, I had pet turtles & found that several snapping turtles got attached to me & would watch for me coming home from school, then follow me around the yard. Not like most reptiles, but could be the ones that are smarter, know who feeds them. 😄🐢
