There is no excuse to not carry a whistle in your kit.. EDC one on some piece of gear you carry in your pocket.
However we forget things and stuff gets lost, knowing how to make a whistle with a little bit of scrap metal and a multitool could literally save your life. Signaling for help is an important skill to have. Even if you can call for help whistle could help them locate you much faster than them just looking.
