Axe kits, personal mods for the bush

Like most of my kit, I've got to where I have customized my gear to best fit my needs and personal preferences. I like turpentine patterns, short straight wooden handles with a light jute wrap, lanyard and a leather mask.
The way I carry them is the same across the back or over the shoulder but provides me with an extra strap in an emergency. The Rothco straps (about $9) are inexpensive wide well carrying options with metal buckles.
The pouch slids down the handle and rides zipper up and can hold whatever folks wish. I keep the items in there that I could possibly need in an emergency and for basic field maintenance. The file is just a cut down mill file in a old shortened wooden handle.
Thanks for the support.
Whiskey river trading Co. for my council tools and leather masks
Hults Burk for my Swedish steel

Just subscribed. I love the sling and pouch styling! I’m a double bit Man and for good reason. I’m also a Leather guy but my Army days has my blood flow OD green. I can definitely see my Axes and Hatchets adopting a similar furniture. Thank you Brother.

Nice selection of options for axes and the kits. I still love all my Fiskars axes although they don't have the "cool" factor of the traditional wood handles, those babies will stack wood when I need it.

Dude I've got some knock off Fiskars from Ozark trail and another no name from tractor supply that I take on long trips for weight. They are insanely durable. I took the mask off my short Gerber and put it on my Ozark trails lol

@@bushcraftkelso2013 lol, I love the masks on them. Durable and makes for easy carry or rigging up a sling like you built. Also, the price difference is nuts. Gerber, Fiskars, Ozark Trail and the others, pretty sure it all rolls outta the same factory but the price spread is wild.
