🏀 Want To Be Scouted By Coach Duck? - www.group82basketball.com/ser...
Name: Robert Deon Potasi Dillingham
Height: 6’3
Weight: 176 lbs
Position: Combo Guard
Hometown: Hickory, North Carolina
High School: Combine Academy (Lincolnton, North Carolina); Donda Academy (Simi Valley, California); Overtime Elite (Atlanta, Georgia)
College: University Of Kentucky - Lexington, Kentucky
AAU: Team CP3, Strive For Greatness - Nike EYBL
Father: Donald Dillingham
Mother: Valaaulia Tailele
Notable Relatives: Brother, Denzel Dillingham, Played at Paine College, 2013 SIAC Player Of The Year
NBA Comparison: Bones Hyland
NBA Ceiling: 6th man of the year candidate. 3rd leading scorer off the bench.
NBA Floor: G League Bench.
Social: @robwitdashifts
@robwitdashifts is probably going to the first American drafted in the 2024 NBA Draft.
Dillingham is a score-first guard who constantly is putting pressure on the defense with his speed and erratic pull up jumpshots.
Dillingham’s biggest strength right now is his ability to catch and shoot from 3 point range. With his current shot mechanics, he dips the ball on every catch and given his size that causes uncontested shots to become contested.
Dillingham doesn’t think the game. He is looking to score and if it isn’t there he gives the ball up to whomever is closest to him. He lacks the ability to make difficult passes with either hand and that causes him to miss wide open teammates before the defensive gap closes.
He lacks natural point guard instincts and doesn’t read the game at the NBA Level.
His on ball defense is atrocious, not because of lack of physical ability, but because he hasn’t been taught how to defend at a high level.
Dillingham is going to need organized chaos to play how he wants with the 2nd unit. Once he becomes comfortable with the NBA game both physically and mentally, his NBA coaching staff is going to have to spend a lot of time teaching him how to read defenses.
Who does Rob Dillingham remind you of?

just wanted to say I recently found your channel. as a very mature data analysis enthusiast, lead and coach prior experience, your breakdowns really appeal to me. not the "please the crowd" that some others do. it's Raw. just as someone who wants to improve should want. and as other teams scouts will have you the player for their opponents. now I don't just say crap for attention or to get approval, I have dove into you a bit as to know your experience. and so far it's checking out and explains why I am liking what I see/hear. just wanted to say good job.

Great breakdown. Would you compare Rob to Jordan Poole? Also: Unrelated but another set of questions I had for you. How many shots would you make a day for aspiring college players? How would you count those shots? What are specific examples of game-like shots to work on? How would you correct bad habits like a crooked or slanted shot path?

  • @DorianGroup82

    @DorianGroup82

    3 ай бұрын

Great questions. 1. Poole is in his prototype as well. He’s a good example because he was the #1 option in Washington and he is averaging less than when he was the 6th man in GSW. Some guys are bench mob. And they win titles. 2. Making 500 shots a day, everyday, however you want to break it up is a realistic goal for anyone who wants to play college. If you want to hit 500 layups, practicing different angles and spots all over the backboard repetitively for a high number of makes is how Kyrie has his layup package. You know your own weaknesses. Work on them and then save working on your strengths for later in the workout to preserve that late effort confidence boost. 3. Anytime there is a problem with your shot, go shoot free throws. Use that time to adjust any technical issues. Once you can consistently make 10 free throws in a row, you’ll be able to use that as a mastery gauge for any adjustments to your shot.

He right i honestly believe this guard class will be the second coming of the Lou Wills Jamal Crawford Sixth man of the Yr Guys the league as no starting PG openings this why the league on Big Man right now... he gonna have to wait 3 - 5 yrs yo maybe get that Starting spot or hope For a Career alternating injury on the Pg in front of him or they fall off but chances of that rn with these pgs in the league arent high at all

This is such a reductive way to look at basketball. Rob is definitely an analytics guy, I can agree with the idea of him taking too many long twos but he scores highly on almost every shooting metric in the books. It’s weird that you use OTE film and say he can’t throw the left hand pass but he does that more often than you give him credit for. You gotta say “this can be fixed” instead of “HE’LL BE A BACKUP”. Any all star in the league would’ve been a backup had they not fixed issues they had in college. He’s going to be a lot better than he is at Kentucky, all of Cal’d guards scale up in the league, don’t just pull up the bad clips. This is nuts

So many travels. Relying on his athleticism, fundamentals are lacking. Malik Monk comparison is a good one. He can get buckets though for sure. Seems like a good kid who could be coachable.
