Ok mates, I really, really love your teas, but at these prices, I simply can't afford them anymore. Just a suggestion: if you could source some really good teas from less revered areas, that is, teas that are just or almost as good but less expensive because they are not from a region that commands such high prices, that would be really nice. It's fine for me that boutique-teas exist, but at over 70c/g - or even 60c/g - it's just out of my range. I drink around 10 to 15 g per day. Please look out for the hidden, affordable gems.

I would really recommend the young gushus - 2022 is a favourite of mine and on sale. Antique street market, a large leaf 🍃 huanpian is also a great price 😊

You're a heavy addict man, drinking 10-15g a day. Maybe go easy a bit, 5g should be enough for 1 true session. But you're also right, ML has turned into a snob vendor, apparently there's enough customers for that.

@@AhimSaah As I see it, the prices have generally gone up. There is vendor in my country, who's puerh I can only afford as tasters ... unless it's from Laos or Thailand.

I have just found your shop and channel after being interested in getting into 'good' tea for a while now. I am very excited to start my journey, although the choice seems endless haha. Trying to get a good mix of things for my first order, but I'm very tempted to throw in a taster of this tea, even though it seems like one more for the connoisseur!

Hey friend, i know this is off topic but, could a person press loose leaf pu-erh tea at home? I do quite a bit of hiking and camping and I dont really like to take loose leaf with me because the leaf tends to break while in my pack... Any instruction or advise would be appreciated

If you look at traditional videos of puerh pressing it seems like it would be fairly easy to do a rough press at home. All the tea you want to press goes into a cloth bag and is very lightly steamed (this is to soften the leaves for pressing, id reckon steaming them too hard would effect the flavor) once theyre softened you wrap up that bag and the excess fabric goes in the middle of the coin (this is where the divot in puerh cakes comes from.) then you just have to weight it down, traditionally this was done with a large stone that the person pressing the tea would stand on, but maybe a barbell plate or anything heavy and flat would work. Could be fun to experiment with!

Ok guys SERIOUSLY??? I need to google 7 words to understand the flavour notes of this tea. I don't like this snob language! Tea is a humble thing. This is a snob bull with dolce gabana sunglasses taking a huge sh*t.

  • @MeiLeaf

It is not intentional to give hard to understand flavour notes but just to try to describe as accurately as possible our own experience of the tea no matter how simple or obscure they may be.

Something that may be obvious to you may not be obvious to someone from a different area, or vice versa... plus, everyone's taste is subjective. That's why they include lots of descriptors.

It’s actually quite impressive how specific and precise Don and Celine’s flavor notes are, regardless if you find it “snobbish.” At the end of the day I’m jealous of their food and drink experiences and find it difficult to put into words how to describe specific tea notes. The beauty of tea is the more refined your palate is and the more cuisines and drinks you experience around the world the deeper your appreciation of how complex tea actually is becomes. You can be humble if that makes you happy but you can also go in the opposite direction and be just as happy if that appeals to you.
