Hikaru's prep for that game was absolutely stunning. I feel bad for Pragg on that one but what a beautiful forcing game with the black pieces. Chess psychology at its finest

Two of the most exciting players in this tournament playing each other, you knew it was going to be a decisive game one way or the other.

This tournament is really starting to heat up. I’m interested to see how aggressive the players leading the pack play in the final three rounds. I’m really hoping for a blood bath

Alireza vs Hikaru today should be a Great game to me it seems they have similar style of play Pragg vs Nepo will be interesting to see how Pragg bounces back after his loss Gukesh has a Golden opportunity vs Abasov anything can happen in these final 3 games going down to the wire Thanks for the Game James enjoy your day

Hikaru and Pragg are similar in style, so the more seasoned and experienced player managed to edge through. Pragg played not the best moves, and the more seasoned Hikaru managed to take advantage of that and win the game.

Honestly, I think the fact that Magnus gave up the world champion title really freshened up the game. It's very interesting and uncertain to see who will challenge Ding and which person will ultimately walk away with the title, rather than "tune in to year 6 of Magnus grinding out draw after draw until his computer brain gives hin half a pawn of advantage and he wins the whole thing."

This may be true but it also means the World Title has less meaning.

@@boffo63 in one sense, yes. Obviously the best player should be the world champion. But on the other hand, humans have been diminished in chess ever since computers like deep blue took over... Should we crown stockfish or alpha zero or whatever the new highest level engine is world champion? After all, they are the best players. I'd say that I much prefer the "diminishment" of the title over two engines playing each other to a draw over and over again. I think that's why Fisher quit chess, I think that's why we'll probably see something similar from Magnus. At some point you just get too good and it all becomes meaningless.

A Hikaru bento (弁当, bentō) 'box': a highly prepared convenience assemblage where the whole greater than sum of its parts; hence reflected in opponents temporal, computational penalty slash deficit.

Hikaru still has two games with White, only one with Black. One of those against Gukesh. And he also has his second game against Nepomniachtchi (with Black) still to come. He has every chance to win this! Quite amazing considering he did not have the best of starts in this tournament.

Pragg needs to play more 1200-1400 player to face "the Box" more often. I thought that line had an older name.

Hikaru should win candidates and win ding to make his and his fans statement that he is second after Magnus. Otherwise he will remembered just as some overhyped guy because of being american who have some blitz capabilities.
