Excellent video. Mary's rocks.

My family is from Strawn, so I've eaten at Mary's many times over the decades. My brother lives within a couple hundred yards of it. She started out slow, and was in a slug-out with "Flosssie's" across the street for a few years in the late 1980's. Mary's won out; and largely due to the CFS. I'm not positive it's the best in Texas, but it's very good and quite large. Actually, I think the mashed potatoes and the gravy are the best in Texas ! As an aside, their Mexican food and other items are pretty solid hitters as well.

Thanks for the road trip once again. The portion of the chicken fried steak is unblievealbe. That is a large alright. I could eat off that for about 2 or 3 days, even the potatoes and green beans. I glad you enjoyed your meal. How was the lemon pie? I'm sure if the meal was good the dessert was also. TYFS. Be blessed. #stopwishingstartdoing...

That is one GENEROUS platter of food. Looks delicious and what a comfort meal that is. it's nice when the steak is tender inside. I have tried to make chicken fried steak and although it is tasty, it usually turns out a little tough.

Thank you Chef Jeffrey. Truly enjoyed this road trip and video. I would love to go there because I think it was well worth the money and the trip. I’ve never seen chicken fried steak that big in my life. And I know it’s on the flat top grill, but you’re absolutely correct. Great video Chef, Mary’s is a staple! Great small town of Strawn, Texas also Strawn is legendary in small town football as well! Miss Mary and Coach Lee are the greatest thing to ever happen to Strawn! I have nothing but respect for that town!

Best & biggest chicken fried steak I ever had was at Cartwrights on the town square in Denton, Texas.

Exactly Chief Jeffrey, I was having the same conversation about some people Don't want to work. Here in North Carolina just as other places, the homeless rate is just to high. I understand people fall on hard times. I do I understand that.but when you have people hanging out in certain public places all day, doing nothing, because if you have time to hangout, you could be working and earning money so that they Don't have to stand on the corner and ask for money. That goes back to what you was saying, and the jobs are plentiful, and if they have no experience that's where the Goodwill and other resource centers steps in and help them to get experience along with second chance resources for people with criminal records. I'm sorry yall that this post is so long, but I try to those who are less fortunate and motivate people that we make bad choices in life, but they Don't have to define you..sorry yall..but thank you Chief for taking us alone to share in your restaurant experience. We took a road trip out there years ago before my mom passed. She had a list of chicken fried steak places to try and I think we hit them all. Their food was delicious!! I am a new sub so not sure if you have found this little gem yet but if not, you MUST check out Jake and Dorothy's Cafe in Stephenville. Try the chicken fried steak and the waffle fries are a must. This is where waffle fries originated. You won't regret it

That looked delicious I love chicken fried steak I moved back to Indianapolis so now I cook my own, but when I was living in Texas the best chicken fried steak I had was expensive but delicious was from saltgrass in longview

Looks like the large is TWO pieces of steak.

I ate there a few months back and my chicken fry was not cooked like it was fried in burnt oil and the gravy was made with the same oil and tasted burnt also was disappointed I won't be back was a waste of 28 dollars And watch out for the cat outside he follows everyone that walks out with a bag trying to get scraps
