You can now...check out my Caro course! www.chessable.com/the-caro-kann-simplified/course/171080/
Hey Alex, your videos are the most helpful i have found for my rating range. I’ve learned to let the opponent self destruct, much better than throwing loose attacks myself :) Going to start to study caro kann because of you. Thank you for the high value quality content and have a great day!

Wintergatan, I wonder if you could make the different chess moves have different notes? Maybe the Caro should be played in a minor key?? Great explanations, Alex, love watching your games!

Didn’t expect to find you here! Still rocking the marble machine X shirt.
Shocked that more people haven't subscribed to this man, his videos are the most comprehensive and not overdressed with unrelated nonsense. Just pure chess with a sense of humour. Hope he never gets disenchanted with this that would be a huge blunder.

Levy has the popularity, Alex has the content. If I want to just watch a fun chess video, I’ll watch Levy. If I’m really trying to learn/refresh my knowledge, it’s a no-brainer watching Alex. Personally I hope he never gets above 60,000 subscribers so that his lessons can pretty much stay secret to the Internet. Realistically, he should have 20M subs

It's just exposure I am quite sure if he did collaborations with the more popular channels he would get heaps of subs . It's amazing how many great channels I never knew existed until recently .
This guy is underrated , legit helped my caro kann
You probably the only one that i can watch chess vid for 1hr plus without fast-forwarding. Thank you for the great lessons!

This is really bringing me in. It makes me want do dig up my old Smyslov's Best Games to see how he played his favorite opening. Karpov, too. But not before I see ALL your Caro-Kann stuff, because you understand the lower rated players like me, and, just as important, I can understand you. Thank you.
I love ur videos! I asked my dad who’s also an IM if he knew who you were and he complimented you upon watching this video. Ur a great teacher honestly.
Been watching your vids, I must say it's very instructive theoretically and helps with my games. Keeping it simple and easy
At 7:00 in the video I saw an interesting alternative move (I swear, I didn't use an engine, although later I checked with an engine and it is good). The move is Rxe3 because the pawn is overloaded. If the pawn recaptures, there is actually a forced mate in 10. If it doesn't recapture, you are just up material.

Yes, that screamed at me too. I didn't see a mate in 10, but giving up an exchange for a pawn and a strong attack looked like a no-brainer. There was a slight worry what happens after c5. So I gave it to the fish: Re3 best move -4.89.

Thank you!! Amazing content. Love to see your channel grow!
I find your lessons to be very instructive, thank you
I already got my first win with the Tartakower variation you explained in the first game. Got almost the same finish as you did it was really helpful totally destroyed my opponent with your tips. Very much appreciated!
I like your channel quite a bit, it's like a perfect mix of the calmness of rosen, wit of levy, and strategic ideas of agat
i love these positions in the caro because you're exerting a ton of pressure, and if your opponent trades everything down, you just have a winning pawn endgame
You sold me. I'm officially gonna learn & play the karo. Been stubbornly playing the Pirc but I've seen too many of your vids now not to switch. Thank you
I went from 600 to 1000 in around 2 weeks thanks to these videos. Huge thanks. Your teaching style is so easy to process.
Dude since I found your channel my win rate with black has gone up by 1% and it's only been a few days. I appreciate how much info you show us in your videos and how instructive you are. Keep up the good work!
Thank you very much for the instructions and in such a funny manner! You definitely deserve more subs!
Noooo not an annoying voice, it's grrreat, and you're a refreshing addition to learning from the best. Yeah long video but then I eat while watching so time isn't an issue. Thanks Alex - keep it up.
You're a legend and your explanations are crystal clear thank you
Sometimes when I'm playing chess I talk to myself in your accent and it actually helps a ton
That was nice. I usually try variations of pirc but I'm going to play about the next 50 games with just this to see how it goes. Thanks for all your videos. Very helpful.

I wonder what should I do if all players in my rating range watching your video. Best instructive chess videos at least for me
at 10:51 you can take a pawn on d4 and than if opponent takes a roock you will just mate with bishob to h2. and tanks this video helped me much :)
@renzandrewg.deguzman9666

i see no mate, the bishop is still guarding the h1 so queen can't go there to deliver checkmate...
Having caught each and everything you've said I must comment to the contrary; your voice in not annoying at all as it's masterfully expressed with an underling Great since of Fun Hummer!! Thanks Alex ans as Always, Blessings friend from Oregon ! : ) 100%
Thanks Alex. Normally I like to play Sicilian Defense when my opponent opens with e4. Caro Kann looks like a derivative of a Sicilian. Will try to play it. Your chess streams are very instructive like GM level. Comparable to Daniel Naroditsky which i also like a lot.
Awesome, I watch your videos and improve. Thank you
Absolutely love this channel 🙌🙌🙌
Amazing work Alex!!! thanks much needed insights here! got urself a new caro kann player here!
maybe this sounds repetitive, but I have watched several different channels from IMs, GMs, etc. and your videos are simply the best for my taste (direct, simple, easy to understand, nice tone, funny but not a clown and not theatrical either...). Keep it up and thanks for the great and funny content! Also, it's incredible how you keep calm under attack ^^ lol. One day I'll maybe get there. Cheers! :)
Your videos are really helpful, thanks
You are the sole reason I actually improved in chess love your videos
Hey Alex, appreciate your content so much and I have your London course which I love. Wondering if you’re making a Caro Kann course and if so when can I expect it? I only play the London the Caro and the reverse London all because of you. You’re the best man keep it up.
Great video, thanks Alex!
Great as always 💪🏼💪🏼
Great content yet again. I love your videos
I really enjoyed this video. Thanks for introducing me to the Caro-Kann
great video. thank you👍
Been waiting for latest video this is going to be a banger 🔥
You are super underrated. I started off as a 600 and now I am 850 in like a month. Thank you
your voice is insanely calm and actually helps me pay attention
Dude the thing I like about your presenting style is you literally always look like you're about to laugh lol
Looking forward to your Caro Kann course!
Very instructive video
Love your videos and sense of humor!
At 10:24 he can go Nh4. If Rxh4 then Bf3 protected by queen. If Rg4 then Bxg4 forcing Qg4 Then Qf3. You will have to escape Qe7 or Qd8. He would then be able to move kg2 opening up for rook to slide over further defending his king and adding to offensive capabilities on your king.
7:24 Bro, an even stronger move here was rook takes e3, sacrificing the rook and if they take the rook, then the queen infiltrates and its mate in a few moves. Found the move while watching the video, plugged in stockfish and saw that it was the right move.
@DarkSideChess
Жыл бұрын
I saw the same thing
Game 1: I get it that the queen must stay on h3 to cut off the king's escape square. Bg2 allows escape but after qxg2/rxg2 black will be up 3 pawns and a minor piece and should prevail. Game 3: 44:00 If you take the hanging pawn on c3 does it not create a spyhole for white to invade? Staying calm when the queen is close enough to shake hands and there's a rook lined up on your king... big kudos. As players like you say, those who think they are clever are particularly annoying to those of us who really are!
Love your demeanor. Great video thanks
SUP Alex! I love to play the bird now, dutch opening, is just so solid and beginners don't pretty much anything about it so u just crush them easily
Bro u teach is such detail love it bro i love your content
Alex symphonies continue to amaze
I've got my first chess tournament match tomorrow, will definitely be using the Caro-Kann after e4. Thank you so much, your videos are fantastic.
you do not have an annoying voice bruv! I enjoy very much how passionate you are about this game, makes it very entertaining to watch even as a casual chess enjoyer.
You improved my chess more than any other content creator! Gained 200 elo in around a month. Thanks Alex!
In the first game after g3, Rxe3 is winning immediately, if they try to take back it’s forced mate, or if you don’t see that far ahead it’s still clearly winning after Qxg3+, Kf1, Qxh3+, Kg1, Qg3+, Kf1, Bg4 threatening mate, seems like a very simple attack and you’re hardly down material for it. Understandable to not go into it without calculating but just something I saw immediately as an option since the f pawn is overloaded after g3
Man I just started playing chess its been 3 weeks I reached 600+ elo More of the thanks goes to u and ur videos u played great role in that Keep growing ⛳🤞
i asked my 20 year old son to play chess with me after ages. He is very good...rated around 1400....but left it at that.......i tried the hippo system (erics speed run)...but i got trashed 4-0......last game...i tried the Caro and won by the skin of my teeth...came down to his queen and almost pawn queen next move against my queen n rook.......the caro definitely works and i need to watch more of Alexs videos covering the caro.
Had to come back here and thank you Alex. I thought it was some low level trap like stated in the title, but just used it to milk some free ELO from 1500+ opponent. Thanks papa!
entertaining and informative very cool
7:00. Alex, you missed it. 1.P-g3 appears to frustrate the battery. What is needed here is the disruptor move. You are looking to sac material in order to give new life to the battery. 1.----R×B displaces the guard or wins a bishop. A further hint that the disruptor sac is worth it is that the rook at e1 and the bishop at e2 form the Murphy Wall hemming in the king. Play it out. I see in the comments that I am not the only one to find this.
Brilliant dude, lol 4th time i've watched this video. I Set the trap up behind a pawn on E6. I pushed the pawn and they just didn't see what was behind it. Looked at the pawn and thought that's not a threat and pushed their own pawn and bam Checkmate.
foarte fain video ,mersi de sfaturi
I watched a lot of chess trainer but you are one of the best, chill, fun and never forgeting we are pretty noob :D
You’re very informative and your voice is not annoying 😁
I just played a game that worked out exactly like your video.thanks!!!!
I love your lessons. Greetings from Cluj-N. 🙂
Love your caro kann videos only guy I trust to learn it from
Instructive!
Great video
At 7:25 you missed a brutal tactic: Rxbe3. They can't recapture, since you can then just Qxg3+ which leads to a pretty quick mate. Perfect play: Mate in 10. Second best move for white after that would be Mate in 2, so it's a good trick.

Thanks he plays this move in another video, I was wondering if I was missing somthing.
Awesome ideas
More common sense instruction than some of the big guns. I am learning more of the game now. Thank you for some simple tips in action rather than a lot of gibberish tough talk. This is more informative.
you are the best, do more caro-kann videos also for 1600+
I realised I wasn’t subscribed to your channel but I righted my wrong. Your channel is very underrated, you deserve like a million followers. Dont know if the people are put off by the accent but I think it is hot, people need to wake up and follow you. Cheers

7:22 instead of going Qd7 you could’ve gone Rxd6 and later taken the pawn on g3 with check and then the h3 one with tempo. So essentially getting two pawns and a bishop for rook with a very dangerous position for white likely resulting in mate in a few moves.
Hello guys! I love this content I'm truly following this man because he knows a lot, however (it's been a while and I haven't done the video yet) in 7:22 position I was shocked that he didn't sac the rook on Rxe3 taking the dark-square bishop and if he takes with the pawn that just leads to a mate, also, if they play the best move which is c5, you just play Qd7 going for that h3 pawn they can't take your rook, but that's what most of the people will do and it might lead to a mate after Qxh3 infiltrating, ideas to take the knight on f3 by bishop on h5, even when they do the best moves, after Qxh3 it might lead into a Queen + Dark-square bishop vs two rooks (I just used the engine and it was what i got with almost +9 for black) hopefully this is instructive, don't be afraid of sacrificing the rook on e3

"this is why we love the game of chess, it's literally never boring, unless maybe you play the petrov"
Literally just won a checkmate in 12 moves after watching this video.
Instructive easy to follow information. Much better channel than the clickbait one with a million subs won’t mention his name.
The first game, move 15 or 16 should be Rxe6 for black and is - +. Really do like to watch your stuff.
9:10. Black's queen has the king in the snake hook, a kind of 'king on the block' position.
Ecxelent channel. My rating up now
When you have a day off from work and Alex uploads an hour of Caro content, you know it's gonna be a good day.

Hi Alex, I’ve only just recently subscribed to your channel and I’m trying to watch all of your videos for the Caro-kann. Can you recommend me the best order for me to watch so I can learn everything there is. I find your videos to be super instructional for me and I think you’re amazing at explaining the gameplay/setups so easily for me to understand. Thank you!
a trap that has worked alot for me around 800 is: 1. e4 e5 2. nf3 nc6 3. d4 exd4 4. ng5 h6 5. nxf7 kxf7 6. bc4+ and then king e8 blunders mate in 6
Great video, 41:00 was inspiring!
Love to play Stafford Gambit coz its fun
Can you some time introduce Sicilian defense to us ... I love it very much ❤️
