Thanks again, Brian. I absolutely don't need them, BUT will buy them anyway since they seem pretty cool and you already got me into the Switchbot ecosystem...I'm glad you did, of course. I'm sure you can stick them up in your car too, as with other NFC stickers. I don't see them among the Switchbot IFTTT triggers and would really like to see that to make them much more useful.

I've been doing a similar thing with all my SwitchBot gear on the way out. It's stuck to my Wyze Lock and it's a simple tap tap taperoo

Impressive product. Thanks for bringing another to our attention. I took a good luck, but the hub has a range of only 30 feet. That's a deal kill-A. And at twice the price of most other hubs -$40, not going to spend extra to get extra hubs.

Man these would be awesome if I had an NFC device. You know, their name is SWITCHBOT, so I really hope they make a wireless button that can control Alexa devices(like flic but cheaper). That would be awesome and match their brand completely!

I wondered when someone would start doing this again. Samsung did NFC a while ago (Think they were called smarttiles), but their ones had become hard to find, at least here in Australia. Also noticed, 2 videos in one day. We are being spoilt !! :)

If you're going to have your phone around to scan the tag, with the app, and the SwitchBot near...I don't believe you need the hub. The hub's more for cloud connection elsewhere. :)

NFC stickers don't work for me because of my phone case. It allows me to keep 3 credit cards behind my phone. I wonder if there's a solution to that?

Hi Brian can you answer this please asap I noticed when the switchbot app is not open I scan the tag.then it says execution failed. But when you scan again then it works. Is this the same for you. It seems it likes the app open then to scan again thanks mark

So if you leave it open in the background (which we should be doing anyways with most apps) then it works better, but I did have that comment in here somewhere. It does struggle when the app is closed and has to fully open. I imagine that's something that will go away over time.

I'd say just mark them up or place them in separate areas! Keep in mind though that you can put more than one action on a tag using scenes!

Brian apologies they do sell to UK but said they didn’t. But only because they were out of stock at the time.

Let's say I place the tag on my front door, I'm assuming I can scan it and the door will unlock. Can anyone else scan the tag and also initiate the unlock automation or is it specific to my phone?

Yeahhhh they're not cheap vs other NFC tags, but you won't need many in this case.

Hey, Brian. I have a 3 pack of these tags coming. I hope I can trigger an app on my Hubbitat with them. Then thought, "will it even be able to do that? An NFC tag is an NFC tag, right? Are these tags locked into the Switchbot Eco-system? Truth be told I like Hubitats "Away mode". Although I'll admit, I did not give googles away mode much of a chance. All my contact and motion sensors are Zigee/Zwave, too.

These are locked to SwitchBot Matt, so no...they're not "NFC" in the traditional sense. They are definitely NFC, but they've locked it to that app. It's in this video that it's going on!

@@AutomateYourLife I did watch that video again. I saw how it opens scenes in the Switchbot app only. I ordered some NFC tags from Amazon, too. I understand I'll need some kind of controller app as well. Most of the apps for Home Control are on my phone.

What's the time saving advantage of these tags, vs just using the Alexa app? Don't get it.

Well, you'd have to open up the Alexa app, find your device, and tap. That's usually 3-4 taps right? This is tapping your phone on the tag and then it's done. It's nice for a lot of folks to not have to remember all that, or all the voice commands.

Hmm, I can do this with Tasker, Alexa routines and any NFC Tag, a pack of 10 costs under 8 dollars on Amazon and I do not need an additional Hub.

The benefit here is the SwitchBot devices that this works with. There aren't a lot of physical moving devices on the market that you don't have to DIY completely.

They still haven't let it out. You could do some workarounds based on automations in SwitchBot's app pushing to Amazon/Google/etc. but that's not a great method.

@@AutomateYourLife I'm pretty dumb when it comes to NFC, but since the app reads the tag, if they made it a device, then you could use it in an Alexa routine and use all other devices.

After a little research I found that if you buy a different brand of tags, you can make them work with Alexa and Google. You probably knew that too. I ordered up some so it you are interested I'll let you know how it worked out.

After some research and trial and error, I found that you can go through a procedure and make the switchbot tags readable by Alexa where you can then use in a routine.

@@AutomateYourLife well... I have mini hub that controls my ac and TV in my bedroom, so what I did is when my phone touches the nfc tag, it will turn off the TV and it worked

Switchbot is the only one offering toggle which is a shame, it should be a basic operation for any IOT

Agree. All devices should have a toggle!

Switchbot have very useful devices but are painful to use. The range for connection between hub and meter or switchbot is ridiculous short and the signal is so weak it won't even go through timber internal partition walls.

Do you have issues with ZigBee devices too D? Might need to work on a specific setup for you if you're having that much trouble. I get about half a home away easily before I even start to see anything change signal wise

6.99$ for a pack of 3 a s a bit steep.

I know regular ones are less, but I didn't mind the idea. I think most people will only buy a few packs for specific things. 😀
