    Hey Brantzen. I discovered you about a week ago and have now binged all your videos. I've watched a lot of different poker vlogs but in my opinion you are the best. I don't say that lightly and that even includes Brad (who is a close second). Your combination of poker insight, humor, humility and production quality is unparalleled. I also think your poker game is more realistic than some other vloggers. And on top of that you are a family man. The horrible part is that I now have to wait for your next vlog to come out. I'm spoiled now and tried to experiment with other new vloggers but they don't compare. I have no doubt that you'll be highly successful and maybe one day you'll do a meetup game in Dallas and I can say hello. Looking forward to watching you ascend the poker ranks and also looking forward to the next video. Any possibility that you could add a graphic showing your stack size through the hands…I think that’s the only missing thing for me.

    New sub today.. Bro , your thought process is spot on.. you realistically block all his value , the board blocks sets , realistically he’s got 4 combos.. A10 spades/clubs and 910 S/C.. he has heaps of missed flushes , and some missed straights… I really can’t see you making a “ mistake “ , but yeah sucks when you know but still have to call … Head up 👊

    I often have to remind myself that just because you're getting the odds for something, doesn't mean you should always take it. Often I don't take into account hands that destroy me, and think I have better odds than I do. If he has top pair, I'm getting good odds to call...but what about sets and 2 pairs etc? Avoiding spots where you're drawing potentially dead is huge, and its a lesson I've had to learn many times.

    I could be wrong but I feel like both your plays are fine In the KJ hand he could have 2 combos of QJs, and then 4 realistic combos of straights (ATss, ATcc, T9ss, T9cc), don't think he could have 66 or KQ because he would have raised the turn with double flush draw, when he jams 500 into 980 you only need to be right 25% of the time to be profitable. You're already right 33% with his value hands and no bluffs so when you add in any missed flush draw bluffs its even more profitable And the JTs suited hand kind of have to put it in when you have so little left, you were getting the right odds

  • @BrantzenPoker

    @BrantzenPoker

    Жыл бұрын

    Thanks - I don’t think those plays were awful, but I still have problems with them. 1. The KJ hand is debatable and you might be right, but who can say if QJ even takes that line. 2. TJ hand I prob should’ve just folded to the 3!, and maybe just 3! Myself to start with. Either way the bigger problem was just that it wasn’t a great table to profit, and I stayed anyway

    You're absolutely right....if you're in it to make money, you aim for weaker players to take advantage. At the same time, if you want to up your game and see where you're at, that's when you play against the guys/gals you perceive to be better than you so you can learn. the time, and potential money, is an investment at that point. Go with your gut. Your unconscious picks up unconscious cues of your opponent. Top two pair is no good when there's a straight possibility (and there's always a 3-of-a-kind possibility). He called flop and turn with flush and straight possibilities. If he had trips, he might have raised on the turn to maybe get you off a flush draw (if he thought you had AK of clubs). Also, always think what he probably thinks you have. I would have put you on AA, KK, or AK. If he's putting you all-in, and he thinks the best possible hand you have is a 3-of-a-kind, then again, he made the straight.

    How would it be different if you were involved in both KJo and JT hands playing 2-5? Wouldn't you make the same call? IDK, I just feel you got unlucky with that J on the river... If it was another card, you would have won the hand and wouldn't it be different? Anyway, that is a difficult fold. Hard to figure IMO if you have just sat on that table.

  • @BrantzenPoker

    @BrantzenPoker

    Жыл бұрын

    The JT hand I probably should’ve just let go pre after the 3! It was an awkward spot. But there are other differences, not just those hands. Most of those spots I 3!, people were folding properly. Other spots I looked at were played better by my opponents than the average 2/5. I did get unlucky, sure, but it’s not just those spots. It’s every spot. Against weaker opponents you will extract more value with good hands, and get away cheaper when you’re losing. It’s tougher as your opponents get tougher

    Buying for $800 at Bellagio’s 5-10 is a mistake, imo. Especially when you then sit down with a more heavy pros and grinders at the table. It will handcuff a lot of your moves and options.

    Totally fair statement. I bought in for $800 for a few reasons though 1. I was planning on playing lower stakes so I only brought $1600 cash 2. I would’ve only bought in for $1k bullets if I brought more money as I’m very used to 80-100 BB poker 3. Also, a lot of my buyins are relative to responsible bankroll management

    No offense, but you are not good. Bellagio 2/5 isn't really a 2/5. It's a blown up 1/3 with mostly tourists. If you played 2/5 at Aria or Wynn you would've got wrecked. LA poker is not fundamentally sound.

    Also, I make a living playing poker, but I never said I was the best. I’m just good at selecting profitable games 👍
