Hendo was what really made those wingers effective. he played those lobbed through balls from any angle anywhere on the pitch always right on the money. And on top of that, he was a very strong defender. Especially with both him and Fabinho on the pitch, that midfield was so hard to crack - and he allowed Trent to play super offensively because he was just always there to back him up. Seriously underrated player.

Whiskey Alex called him a donkey in his book but Hendo achieved the dreams that Sir Gerrard who ended up retiring from a bad back by carrying the team for 20 years on his back didn't! Hendo was rated as a second class Gerrard, the rival fan taunts were totally unjustified, One of the best games in Liverpool history was when Gerrard won a European Cup on his own against probably one of the best sides in European football. For those that don't know KZread miracle of Istanbul. That Ac Milan team was just full of pheromonel talent! ❤ We/he fked them up, Jerzy Dudek also played a massive part. Back when Hendo was good we’d always struggle without him. Such an underrated player.

There’s been more talented players for LFC, many of them, but as a leader there haven’t been many better. He showed flashes in 13/14 and had bad luck with injuries for a few years but in our most successful years under Klopp, he was front and centre . No coincidence for me.

I remember during the lockdown games you could hear the players! Henderson you could always hear the most just instructing directions

He was bad the first two seasons but from the 2013/2014 season until the end of his Liverpool carrier he was very good all the way, especially when Liverpool won the PL he was absolutely outstanding

Henderson was the one that set the pace. That is why today liverpool most likely concedes first bcus we dont have driven leaders. Guy won every trophy in team sport as the captain of a very strong Liverpool side. He didn't need to be the best player in the world, he needed to do his job, and he did it. Nobody ever said he was world class, some teams need players to do the boring work, and Hendo did that happily. He allowed other players to put in world class performances.

Being Skipper to Liverpool esp under Klopp means more than just the armband, it meant you had to listen to him and trust his judgement because he spoke on behalf of Klopp in-game; The captain is empowered by the manager to make key decisions, even wrong ones. Which is why you dont or rarely see Strikers hold the armband or moaning why they dont get the captaincy. It means a whole lot more. It meant you had to work overtime and make judgement calls. Which strikers shouldnt be doing. Its either defenders or midfielders who do so. The one thing i wished Trent, VVD did was tell players to man-mark key opponents for like 5mins or so. Its why we are conceding a little more than we like this seasons.
