    Little do the people of the town knew that Keith was alive and well. He had relocated to another little town in the country where he started writing novels. He kept wearing flannel shirts every day but after a while he got tired of writing so he changed his style to write about the strange dark and mysterious in story format.

    I have a suspicion that Ted was the one to murder both Tom and Keith. He was the last one to see Keith alive. They found no trace of him on or near the mountain where he supposedly told Ted he was going to go. I think that's because he never went there that evening. My theory is that Ted was worried Keith was getting close to discovering what really happened to Tom and his dog so he made him disappear, then edited the ending to his story.

    During his research into Tom, Keith figured out that his friend Ted had killed Tom. So Ted also killed Keith to cover his tracks. Which is why Keith and Ted's last conversation didn't make any sense. Ted actually wrote the ending to Keith's book to strengthen his story about Keith's disappearance, making sure to have other witnesses to the supposed discovery of the ending to the book.

    One thing I've learned from MrBallen over the years is that, whenever you find yourself wandering into a forest. NEVER GO TO ANY CLEARING.

  • @m0t0b33

    @m0t0b33

    Жыл бұрын

    You don't wander into a forest... you go there cause you know your way around the area... and clearings can be very pretty. But if you don't know anything about mountains and don't get any provisions or equipment, don't go there, period. Best case scenario you can call out for help and you get rescued, worse case, you get exposed to the elements or say hello to a hungry animal in whose house you went... and then you're lucky if you're found and/or identified to get a proper burial.

    A few years ago I was hiking through some heavily wooded DNR land, I found a tiny clearing with two flat square stones in the middle, it turned out it was a gravesite from one of the valleys earliest settlers. Their descendants still live in the area, so I told them about finding the graves, apparently they had lost the location several generations ago after that plot was sold to the state, so they were excited to hear about it.

They would assume the gun would be right next to the body and place it there or try to put it in their hand. Furthermore how would the killer get their gun? I'm also assuming there was witnesses that placed Keith in the town that night. Another tell tale point why did he go up there that late in the day? It all adds up to he done it to himself.

    I think Ted killed Keith, Tom, and his dog. Ted is the link that binds all the players. He easily could've written that ending for him to "find" later pointing to suicide. It was Ted who convinced Keith to come to town and to write out of Tom's store. The first thing Ted did when Keith arrived was show him the trail that ultimately led to Tom's body. So based on this video, Ted is my number one suspect.

    I was looking for this comment. This is the exact thing I deduced. Ted killed Tom. Through his search Keith figured this out. He didn't go to the bar to tell Ted he was going into the forest. He told him some of what he figured out. Ted later killed Keith, hid his body. The next day he notified the police and concocted the story about him coming by to say he was going into the forest late that afternoon(which no one in their right mind would do) because people saw Keith come to the bar and talk to Ted. The search and rescue bought Ted time to write the "ending" to Keith's story for him to later "find".

If you pay actual attention instead of ignorantly wanting to be negative for absolutely no reason other than wanting to feel somehow superior, everything he "describes" is from the account of witnesses ie Keith's friend who saw him, who would've reported these things. He never factually states HOW somehow felt because you must surely understand that he couldn't know how someone else was feeling, if they hadn't stated it..? He will say how someone MIGHT or COULD'VE felt given the factual information of the story. This is to build context and layering to the storytelling, and if you don't want that then don't watch him, go read an article. I don't understand why I wasted so much of my own time trying to explain the basic factors of story telling to a moron online. He has never once pretended to know how someone feels. That's the thing about living in a small town in the middle of nowhere in the US. You can wander in the woods and end up getting eaten by a lion or murdered, and be lucky if some hiker stumbles on your remains. Worst yet, you will have town police on the case who will have less resources and man power to actually solve these kind of cases, if the one in question hasn't gone cold well in advanced.

  • @gnarthdarkanen7464

    @gnarthdarkanen7464

    Possibly... I'm thinking maybe Keith figured out that whoever killed Tom had been in the Cafe... whether or NOT it was his friend... They'd overheard something about Tom out to scope out some more of the mountain... or explore something or other... I think Keith got curious about Tom's death, and thought he'd go up and start a reasoned search about for hints of whatever's hidden that somebody might want kept secret... maybe a radioactive waste mismanagement site... AND maybe just a crystal meth or crack cooking site... and maybe (to Keith) his best friend's old whiskey still for "Irishing up" some of the coffee he's been serving or something... AND it turned out to be something he couldn't exactly get out of... Since Tom and Gus were found already, there's probably a bit more effort put into making sure Keith STAYS "disappeared" well into the legendary status. ...Side note... Silver Plume IS an old mining town, one of the many boom-towns that shriveled down, barely escaping Bust. That means there are probably quite a few hard-rock mining operations left over. You know what folks are told about abandoned mine shafts and tunnels and all??? "Stay the Hell OUT!" Most folks reason that mine shafts are more dangerous than natural caves and all... AND in the day, a LOT of mines were started FROM old caves, so there's really no telling what the hell Keith might've found or how he got himself into trouble... AND I just don't trust his so-called "old friend"... Normally those of us who know what's what in the woods and mountains are a bit more persnickety about letting a tenderfooted greenhorn go stumbling around the woods alone at night. That just don't stir the kool-aid... WHY would he wait overnight when he's even had mil-spec' training for it? Vet's are bigger pricks yet about "Failure to plan is planning to fail." ;o)

  • @norabrooks5163

    It was the Cafe owner. Keith had to have told him his plan for figuring out who the murderer really was, and his friend panicked. The story of Keith going up into the mountain that late, and he not stopping him, doesn't make any sense. That's not what friends do, especially if you know they could be in danger. I don't know.🤷‍♀️ But some things, in this sense, just doesn't add up. Maybe it's just me?🤔

    I'm not sure what happened to Keith, but as someone who has many mental illnesses, the obsession he seemed to have with Tom (imo) is not normal. Maybe being isolated in a room you know someone lived in who died in nearby mountains under mysterious circumstances got to his mind? The closest thing I could relate to with the obsession is Borderline Personality Disorder (I have this). We commonly have an FP, aka favorite person, whom we don't need to know and can be a fictional person. Regardless, you become obsessed with them, you wake up thinking of them and go to sleep thinking of them, and if something breaks this happy facade you've made of yourself and your fp, it's like your world explodes and you're a wreck. Sometimes this can lead to someone attempting or successfully taking their own life. The more sensitive of us who don't want help can even turn to stalking. Unfortunately it's not a mental illness that can be fixed with medication; only DBT therapy helps you manage it yourself. It's very complicated and you constantly have to adapt to changes within yourself, but it can be done.

    I think the mine industry in the town collapsing shortly after Clifford's death gives a bit of insight to why he committed, he was a mine owner and probably knew his mines were running low on coal. Say he didn't manage his money well or was even in debt, knowing that his mine was on a ticking clock he ended it before everything blew up in his face.

Ted suspiciously took over Tom’s bookstore after his death & he was the last person to see Keith. Plus, he had access to Keith’s book & conveniently opened it when searching for clues with his friends. Keith was so excited to write his great novel & he had a family to return to that depended on him. And Teds first contact was with them to tell them Keith was "missing" and they started a search before the usual time frame of what most require to consider someone reported as Missing as actually Missing? Ok. There is a very good reason that the investigation never recovered TOMs Body in their called off search and a very good reason it was immediately ruled a Suicide and not a homicide knowing that anyone of any sense would immediately conclude that someone had to have put that tarp there. Which immediately points to corrupt officials and when you have corrupt officials and murders there's usually an illegal operation going on. Not a fan of the true crime. Like the mystery over the violence.

    One of these days we will see an episode , presented by the like button, about the strange and bizarre things that happened to Mr Ballen.

    This was a great story about these guys in my state of Colorado! My uncle that lived in a fairly small town of Minturn, Colorado, actually told me about this years ago. He did embellish things here and there to make it more scary for some teenagers camping outside in the Rockies. Thanks Mr Ballen for another banger of a video!!!
