This Pedal Is Awesome! Crazy Tube Circuits White Whale V2

Музыка

In today's video, Paul Drew from The Studio Rats is checking out the brand-new pedal from Crazy Tube Circuits called the White Whale V2.
This has got to be my favourite of the year so far, This pedal is a real spring reverb and tremolo pedal and it sounds awesome!

Here is what Crazy Tube Circuits say about the White Whale V2
Inspired by the match-made-in-heaven of vintage effects found on 60s American amps, the second version of the White Whale sets out a new objective to pack bigger real spring reverb and tremolo sounds in the same pedalboard friendly enclosure as the previous unit.
The 3-spring reverb tank assembly housed inside White Whale’s enclosure has remained the same, but we have upgraded the power amp driving the springs for increased headroom and wider frequency response. Following the signal topography of the vintage units we have included a dwell control to allow you to dial the amount of signal that goes into the springs for a mellower or splashier reverb sound. Real spring reverb found in 60s American tube amps and external reverb units, like Fender® 6G15®, featured a tube power amp driving the spring assembly via an output transformer so we have delicately tuned an analog circuit to emulate the tube and output transformer saturation that was produced on higher dwell settings.
The Studio Rats are core band members Paul Drew on guitar/production/mixing, drummer James Ivey and Dan Hawkins on bass. They collaborate with singers and musicians to produce radio-ready songs.

Crazy Tube Circuits dared to do a pedal that just does that classic thing of spring reverb and tremolo. We don't always need that sort of innovation and digital effects that can do many more things and things that we even can't imagine. That's fun too, but doing this in such a good way is really something special!

Another excellent and thorough demo Paul. Faster tremolo towards the end took me back to Bo Diddley!

Wasn’t sure what it was at first and thought that’s a large pedal, but when I heard the spring, I was sold.

The problem with reverb is that it only sounds good in solo bedrooms. Which is how they are all demonstrated. At a gig if I use any more than a TINY amount of reverb the guitar is completely washed away in the mix. So I’m selling my expensive large UA reverb pedal for a small one that provides a barely noticeable amount of reverb cause that’s all I can use

Hi, great video, very tempted by this pedal… I was wondering how you felt it competed with the actually reverbs in your two rocks/amplified nation/fender amps? I know this unit does the splashy thing but I’m really after a big smooth real spring reverb in a pedal like on these style of amps. In your opening jam it sounds like it’s pretty much there, just wondering your thoughts.

nice! i wonder how much headrm it has in effects loop for some preamp grit? would NOT be a deal breaker or surprising if it struggled.... as so many do. Love that its analog, could be a big hit!

Magic darts from CTC….again. They’re on a great run of form with new stuff lately aren’t they! Would you pick up this or the Harmonious Monk if you could only have one harm trem pedal for the night? Sounding fine as ever Mr D.
