this one gave me anxiety | BO BURNHAM - All Eyes On Me (from INSIDE) (REACTION!)

Ойындар

Our Reaction to Welcome to the Internet:
• he's a genius. | BO BU...
This is our second and sadly last reaction to the new Bo Burnham special! We watched the rest straight through after this, but this song was.... something else. It definitely got to me. Inside should win an Oscar... it's obviously much more than just a comedy special. Also, sorry for blurring the video, it was the only way I could seem to find to not have it blocked by Netflix.

It’s actually not auto tuned. He pitched his voice down a whole step so it sounds deeper and added a butt ton of reverb. His singing is authentic though and it makes it so much better. Thanks for reacting!

@@babassoonist557 I know, but it’s misleading sometimes. Real autotune has a negative connotation because it enhances someone’s singing regardless of their actual skill. Reverb and other effects like it don’t. If someone sings badly with a ton of reverb on it still won’t sound good. I’m sure you probably know all this though. I’m just ranting

@Dr. Perl Junior I didn’t mean he was pitch corrected, I just meant that the entire thing was pitched down. His voice is not normally that low, and looking at the versions on KZread where they reverse the effect to hear his original voice, it’s obvious that it’s a totally different scale. I think his singing is still authentic because you can hear a few times where he’s not perfectly on the note.

Don’t overthink this” - when someone with general or social anxiety tries to explain what exactly they’re afraid is going to happen, they’re told “you’re overthinking things! Nothing bad is going to happen” “Look in my eye”: it’s also a common way to cope with social anxiety or awkwardness. come on in, the water’s fine”:the phrase can also be used metaphorically in other social situations (eg someone asking a wallflower at a party to join everybody else on the dance floor). bo suffered panic attacks on stage when performing. In the chorus he is telling the audience to get up and get involved, because he wants to entertain.( "get your fucking hands up") When he starts to panic, he wants the audience to stop watching and instead pray for him.("heads down pray for me" )

This song leaves my chest aching. Knowing what those full body panic attacks feel like, how they take over, how you think you won't get through that "too long yet short moment", how every time it happens you feel like you crumble more and more, that you aren't cut out for existing, much less doing something more. How you can be perceived as mentally healthy and put together but it's only because you're holding on for dear life all of the time. Everyone is watching but no one can see what's really going on until the meltdown you were trying to avoid finally takes over and you have to pull yourself together again for the sake of "the show" you've been putting on for everyone, and despite the eyes and the cheers you feel hollow, and simultaneously too full. I could go on and on about how gripping this song is, a true masterpiece.

Pringle can metaphore: the Pringle can is a metaphor for his life and how he can't fit his hand in the Pringle can so he want to have a daughter who can fit her hand in the Pringle can and fulfill his life. Like the Pringle can is the fulfillment of his life so he's not satisfied and he's not even sure if the daughter will satisfy he's assuming that would be the next logical step as a adult is to have a kid and than maybe his life would than be satified. It not about the pringles its about that he's not satified with life even at the hyper successful position that he's at, there's just something thats missing. He tries to get EVERYTHING out of the Pringle can(life) and everything just spills out on his face, you know more than he wanted. So his number one problem is fulfillment in his life and he can't feel that fulfillment. Chipotle burrito metaphore: the burrito is a metaphor for trying to get too much outta life and its gonna coz you to have a mental breakdown, like noone was there to warn "me" that get to this position and trying to get as successful as you can nobody warned me "i" couldn't take this mentally. "I" wouldnt of done half the shit "i" did if "I" knew "i" would of been in this position where im extremely unhappy and not in the mental space I need to be. Like "i" wouldnt of done half this shit if I knew i couldn't handle it.. Then he REAL RALKS the audience about how they are his biggest problem. The wanting to please them and how it affects him. The place that Bo's talking about won't have Ted Dansen or Woody Harrelson. "We're gonna go where everybody, knows everybody". You know who everybody is? Look in the mirror. This actually isn’t auto tune. He’s singing in key but he bring the pitch of his voice down a full step to give it that deeper more haunting feeling but then the chords he uses is actually the pentatonic scale so it gives it that more soothing melodic feeling. Bo Burnham is a fucking musical genius

He quit performing in late 2016 and tried to go back In 2020 but covid so he was stuck inside for another 1.5 years for 5years total since his last comedy special. In the first part of the song you think he's talking to you but then he shares his mental health struggles with anxiety and then you realize that the lyrics are him talking to himself in a mirror before he goes on stage. Because the contradictory messages he uses are a perfect example of what anxiety feels like. In the beginning you think "all eyes on me" is him demanding your attention but at the end you realize that it's an anxiety thought of "oh God no, all eyes are on me right now"

I was lucky enough to see him live in 2011. In a small theatre in my home city in the UK. It was before “What”, and he was clearly trialing a lot of what became that special. He threw a pack of cards at me and called me an idiot, I’ve still got the 6&7 of clubs

could not agree more that whole special is so real.... u cant walk away from it not a changed person..... it hits hard and on so many levels. His use of camera angles lighting and then the songs..... just wow! i feel Bo could be one of if not the greatest comedian of this generation... i know we have seen some greats come and go... but for as young as he is... i dont think i will see another person touch his level of talent... purely my opinion.

You know, that first "laugh" that occurs during his speech, mid-way, feels like a double-edged sword. Like, "Some people aren't going to get the point, and think I'm actually being funny." and yet, "You can laugh, if it helps.l"

Oi his Zach Stone tv show!! I just found it on Apple TV yesterday! Never heard of it before and it’s the BEST show!! I can’t believe how funny it is, it’s gotta become a cult classic soon haha Weirdest thing, in his friends room- there’s a poster of my mates band Dangerous! On his wardrobe 🤯😄 it’s got a guy in a skeleton costume, it’s the only poster that doesn’t have tape over it haha, they’re from Australia but signed to Epitaph over there in the states, I took a screenshot and sent it to them, one had been sent it before and the others never knew haha
