The outcome of this video may not have been what you expected but from all of this, you can now say "yeah the device wasn't fixable and I may have lost money on it, but at least I tried to fix someone else's mess for a customer who didn't deserve it". Good on you for having a go at it, I have so much respect for you and for what you do.

Thank you 😊 yeah it's not the end of the world. The good thing about documenting these repairs is I do still technically get paid a little bit from KZread for the video (about £15 but better than nothing) and it shows that not every device is fixable too

Great vid mate. Always sucks when you get a no fix but showing your processes really helps the community. Perhaps if enough people see it, someone may come up with a fix at some point. Nice work 👍

No need to apologies Phil, I know these kinds of repairs are a nightmare for techs but for us as viewers they are the most interesting in that they are not straight forward and that it that shows us advanced testing & soldering procedures with the added intrigue of will it work after all the work. Cannot win them all but a great effort in trying to save that board for the customer.

Quick question, the jumper wire would 0.02mm be OK to use for the charge port, or would you say 0.06 is the lowest?

  • @TheCod3r

Personally I'd say 0.06 or 0.1mm. 0.02 would be a bit too thin especially for power lines

Love your videos I wish I had skills like you! My Nintendo switch will not charge in the dock or using the official power brick. The weirdest thing is it will charge by plugging it into a computer or by using a Samsung phone charger. I replaced the battery and nothing changed. People are saying it could be the port but it doesn't make sense because it's recognized by a computer. Just wondering if it's one of those chips that you talk about. Have you ever encountered this issue and what was the fix?

@@TheCod3r I was going to mention welding. The cost of having someone weld it (if you don't have the machine) would probably be more than the cost of a new nozzle, but I was going to say that it would be "honorable in the name of repair, and for good luck". But then I thought it would sound silly

I have many ps3 consoles I can donate to you which may help to fix my CECHA00, I believe it is a RSX chip re-balling / replacement fault, I just don't have the equipment required to fix it. Hope to hear from you at some point 🤞

We all have to start somewhere... That's why I purchased crap old broken laptops to practice on. I did the odd simple job for my friends with the pretense that I may not fix the machine and that it may become more damaged. What I didn't do was claim to be a tech, take someone's valuable equipment and then destroy it almost beyond repair like this so called "tech" has done! The board looks like it was left on a BBQ. They must have known they didn't have the skills to pull off even the diagnosis. Never mind the repair. If you can't even flow a solder joint on a ground leg, how can you reasonably expect to flow a new charging port into place etc? Some people are so stupid it hurts.
