Tbh I think the best way to build this to play a bunch of "gain control of target creature until end of turn". Hitting the opponent with their own creature and sac them to play your commander or other big curve top creature. Red has a lot of effects like this and it can be really fun to play since you got many very strong and aggressive removal and can ramp really fast

This is very fun with flayer of loyalties as the only card in your hand and herigast on the field. Pay 2 colorless and emerge FOL from Herigast, take their commander and swing at them with it, then post combat main phase pay 2 red and the difference to get herigast back out and exile your empty hand for 3 draws.

I could see red cascade cards being useful in with this commander

Dominaria Squee seems perfect for this deck, you can cast him from exioe eo it doesnt matter if you exile him with the etb and hes a perfect way to both bank 3 mana and also farm death triggers.

I thought about making this a mono-red Dragon commander; using the Welps to churn out the better, bigger dragons. So far, it's looking promising. Anyone with deck building tips to go for this theme would be greatly appreciated 😁

Undying would be interesting with him.

the way i see this is its basically a more gimmicky version of mana stockpiling effects like omnath locus of all, like you summon a 2/2 for 2 red and then it kinda just holds that 2 red between turns because at any time you can sac it for another 2 red creature, now if we look at it from an infinites standpoint you can cast burning vengeance, and then using one of several “you can cast creatures from the graveyard” granted you might need to run him as hidden commander to do so since i cant think of anything in mono red that does that

@@blazetrinity9462 with Herigast on the field all your creatures have emerge, so all creatures with big mana cost which you can cast for cheaper are great to sac for bigger stuff. for example use faithless looting to discard revolutionist and cast him for his 3R and bring back looting, now you have a MV 6 creature on the field for your big eldrazi or whatever.

You could also include Act of Treason type affects that snatch your opponent’s creatures and then you can cast yours more easily.

This card works really well with artifact creatures, too. Kind of works like an egg deck. You can sac a solemn simulacrum to cast a 4 drop for free, and getting both effects roght away.

Unlikely start but I see a fun thing. I can see ancient tomb to cast sol ring, to cast arcane signet with a lotus petal. Use the petal and floating mana with a jeskas will to summon it turn 1. Turn 2 sac it to bring out a blight steel colossus and have fun.

I thought of some kind of mono red pod.

There’s a few cards from New Capenna tjat synergize with sacrifice too. Blitz out a creature and sac it to cast something bigger after combat, draw an extra card.

Yeah this card is fun, been brewing a deck with him as commander where I just steal my opponents creatures to sack for the emerge

T1 Mountain, Sol Ring. T2 Mountain, Anger. T3 Mountain, Emerge Herigast (Sac Anger), Emerge Artisan of Kozilek (Sac Herigast), return Herigast with Artisan's cast trigger, swing for 16 Annhilater 2. Nuff said, GGs.

Am I the only one that thinks it's worded wrong? I mean it says spells you cast have emerge so they don't have emerge for you to cast them with that alternative cost until you're casting it... I'm confused. If it read creature cards in your hand gained emerge it would make sense to me. But as is it seems like you have to be casting the spell for it to have emerge. Or are spells considered cast before you pay any costs??

Somehow, a neither worse-nor-better version of "[Creature Type] Offering" from (IIRC) Saviors of Kamigawa. Offereing was specific to a creature type, but reduced by Mana Cost, not Mana Value/CMC.

Does commander tax apply to the emerge cost or is it always 6RR?

emerge is an alternative casting cost, so yes it will be affected by commander tax.

It will be affected by tax, but cost reductions are applied after tax. So if it died once, you can play it again for RR if you sacrifice a creature with CMC 8 or more

Just put all the gain control of opponent's creatures spells in this deck then use your opponent's creatures tu cast your own

It shouldn't have been a "may" ability and made it mandatory exile on cast, but otherwise I love the emerge ability on this

Commander tax increases all costs including alternative costs

The sentence: A brand new commander from Modern Horizons 3 just doesn’t sound right

Or you can throw this into the 99 of a Jodah the Unifier deck and Emerge all over the place to get tons of Jodah pseudo-Cascades.
