Well done Ford, mostly done well, but only failing is the touch steering wheel controls switches. I really like the car is it coming to the USA?

I was initially thrilled about this, but my enthusiasm dwindled after seeing the center console. I cannot comprehend how car manufacturers believe that replacing physical buttons with a touchscreen is a secure alternative, particularly in situations like this car where the driver has to look down completely to view the screen, making it very hazardous.

Looks nice hopefully not too expensive, can't wait see the new puma EV and Capri electric SUV crossover when they eventually come out, exciting times, they've done a great job with the Mustang Mach e, it looks beautiful but it's so expensive, a car most of us can only dream about lol, so hopefully these new ones be more affordable for normal people, not everyone has 40 grand on them or can afford paying silly monthly prices like 600 or so a month for a PCP finance contract, the way things are going in UK it only be the rich that can afford nice looking EVs ,the rest of us will end up with petrol or diesel cars or small crappy looking EVs that Ur embarrassed to be seen driving in 😅

What are the biggest difference between Explorer and id4?

Ford's decision to use a VW platform is baffling considering how crap the ID.4 is. I wonder if this was a forced compromise for the Ranger being sold as Amarok. Using it to target women makes sense. I'm in VA, USA and don't know any men who own one. It's a mom-mobile, like vans used to be and wagons (estates) before that. Also, "vegan" leather is a clever marketing to making you feel better about paying a premium for a cheaper, worse product. You're not saving any cattle or reducing cruelty.

Not sure about this design. Ultimately the purchase price will determine if people will / can afford it. The size is something that is important, Tish did say it is larger. How much, lets wait and see. Suffice to say bigger cars have plus and minuses.

Ford would do well to replace the Escape here in the US with this new EV and keep the Escape name for it.

Tish I generally liked your review and the features of the vehicle. Disappointed that you used the comment about the type of dream. Your review did not have an age warning and I can imagine younger people being confused by your language. Not trying to be a prude, just saying that there is more neutral language to convey your message.

lets just hope they'll develop better UI software than VW (which wont be difficult)

Electric vehicles dont handle cold weather at all. Lots of bragging on Fords part on charging time. Electric vehicles are no where proven for practability over the gas models. Best to wait a few models down the line before making a 50k decision. Dont let the 'razzle dazzle' promises you into $1,000 car payments for years!

I do hope Ford doesn't do a proper compact car because I don't want them or Volkswagen to continue to exist. I want companies that are serious about EVs to win. Removing themselves from competition is great for Tesla and for the growth of possible disruptors to the market (most of which will fail but the worse the legacy companies do, and they're doing incredibly badly, the more likely one will flourish). So yeah, keep making massive cars that are completely impractical on European, Asian and African cities were we actually have old buildings and don't worship massive swathes of tarmac. Plus, this isn't a real car is it. It's not out this year even, the reports are saying next year so... who honestly cares?
