Venkatesh and his parents began Sri Vinayaka Condiments, a small tiffin eatery, 24 years ago. His father fell ill and they were forced to relocate to the garage of their home nine years ago to tend to him and to also run their store in whatever little manner they could. The first few years were tough, with customers far and few in their neighbourhood located in the farthest corner of Banashankari, South Bengaluru, Venkatesh says, “sales were hardly a few rupees.” However, over time the soft, melt-in-the-mouth quality of their idli, their crunchy vada and khaara bath, the only three dishes they serve here, have acquired quite a following. I dropped in impromptu one evening for a light tiffin and chat with the family.
Hope you enjoy this episode, part of our special initiative to shine a bit of light on unsung eateries that are doing good work.

Kripal this is AMAZING travelling in Bengaluru @ 6.pm to Banashankari 6th Stage and great series of small enterprises that are existing for decades without being known to rest of the world serving some great delicious food though it is few dishes they ensure it is satisfying. As always you have been the Angel Investor showcasing such enterprises. Thank you and a big thumbs up for this episode - Cheers to Idly and Vada Happy Eating 😊👍👌🙏
Although I wasn't born in Bangalore, I was brought up there and have spent several years in Namma Bengaluru. As I don't stay there any longer, watching you speak Kannada and relish the good old idli, vade, dose and sambar reminds me of home and the "good old days" Thank you ❤😊

Kripal Ji Watching your videos, takes one though the ardous process the makers of the idli, vade and the Chutney have to go through waking in the wee hours while much of the population is asleep is a tribute to the people who have struggled for 25 years and built the brand. The ease with which you connect to the high class resturants and the unsung heroes who cater to people at affordable rates is really commendable and the exposure you give them gives the much needed impetus to their business. Heartfelt Regards an Best Wishes for the future episodes fillef with quality content. 👌👌👌👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏🙏

Hi Kripal Please review bhatru mess in srinagar.
This is an excellent initiative , bringing these underrated places and unsung, unacclaimed people ---- who are hidden from the glare and glitter of publicity and propaganda --- into the forefront. Although I do not understand Kannada, the extremely useful subtitles makes your videos an effortless watch !! Please carry on the good work, and keep that Kolkata visit in the back of your mind ..... sometime in future !!!

Hello Soumitra, nice to know you follow our work in Kolkata, Your city is certainly on my mind for a visit in the future, God willing.
Either we as people common men and CONSIOUS CONSUMERS learn to support such small blooming businesses throught cities, dostricts and states across india which will increase the chances getting our economic powers back and spread out equally amongst all which gives into economic equaity or let big greedy multi corporations take over and destroy humanity.
I am having here since it has open 9 years ago. It's always the same awesome taste everytime I visit. Having there & taking parcel is the common practice like undu hoda kondu oda. I have seen his father serving us while his son preparing awesome idli vade.

Good morning dear Kripal - Look forward to this vlog of yet another small family owned enterprise . Hello to Venkatesh 👋 I know the issues related to Dialysis. My Mom underwent Dialysis for more than 12 years before she passed away . So I am aware of the difficulties associated with the treatment both for the patients and their relatives . Anyways let’s dive into this vlog . The Vada looks super crispy and mouth watering 😋 Good that his family his helping him out . Hello to Aunty 🙏 May God give her more strength 🙏 Lovely family pics 👌 Time to savour the Idlis and Vada with chutney. The Idli is super soft and great combo with the chutney 😋 Woohoo what a CRUNCH on the Vada and the chutney complements it quite well 😋😋 Drool worthy . Looks like the overall flavour profile is mellow yet delicious on the palate. I agree this place has to be bookmarked and supported 👍 Wow you have gone for a repeat of the hot Idli ( melt-in-mouth) . That itself is a testament to the quality of the Idli and hence it aces over the Vada 👍 Great endeavour and initiative to promote such small eateries and enable them to step up 👍 Time for some Kashayam ( would be spicy ) and you relished it . Oh the customers love the Khara Ba’ath which you , unfortunately, missed out on . Thoroughly enjoyed every frame of this wonderful vlog 👍 Great work dear Kripal 💯💯💯 Take care & have a wonderful day ahead . God Bless 😇 Loads of love & respect 🤗🤗🤗❤️❤️❤️

True Rajesh, it's always tough and sad when someone close is going through a phase of ill health. 'Twas a rough time for this family too. Their offerings are simple but prepared with care. Where they are located is literally far, far off the beaten track, so it was heartening to see regulars make a beeline for their fare. I'm hoping that through this vlog, many many more discover the delicious joy of their idli, vada and khara bath, the last I will return for some day in the near future. Glad you enjoyed this one too. Take care, stay safe and blessed. Happy eating!

@kripalamanna Yes, there are small eateries who are worthy of recognition and promotion . Thanks for starting this feature and we will follow the ensuing episodes. A small suggestion about “ Bajji centres of Bengaluru . You had once done a food review of a Bajji stall ( it was a cart I think ) near Madhavan Park. It would be a good idea to start a feature combining the city to showcase good bajji stalls . In the 80s there were two bajji stalls in Gandhi Bazar . Apart from the normal , raw banana, potato bajji and masala vade they made betel leaves bajji and Seeme badnekai bajji. The concept of making ‘ Heerekkai ( Ridge gourd ) bajji quite popular now wasn’t prevalent then . )in South Kanara Bajji is known as ‘ Podi ‘ and there they make the Gulla ( local brinjal ) and Fanas ( local small sized jackfruit like , used for cooking which when sliced is whitish in colour , and also ripe bananas podi . Anothet item typical and popular is the Goli Bhaje ( bajji is called Bhaje here ) . All or most of these stalls don’t make onion pakoras . In Mumbai where I now live the local fav is Vada Pav. Most stalls make potato Bajji ( it’s called’ Bhajia ‘ here ) , and onions bhajiyas in which the batter is slightly loose in consistency. They make Palak bhajias and ‘ methi ‘ ( fenugreek leaves ) bhajias too , apart from the mirchi bhajias . NO SMALL FRIES THESE !!
