    am a medical student, ozempic really is a market maker rn. the addiction handling is pretty sus but it definitely does drop your weight quickly because of decreased gastric motility -> longer satiety. i think a big reason for the weight gain after is it doesn't break your old bad habits so people still eat till they are full which causes them to gain weight. there's probably some receptor fatigue there that contributes, but the regain weight, from what i know, isn't like a set in stone drug side effect. i'll also mention eli lillies drugs are likely to take a huge market share bc they have more than one triple G drug in the works right now. semiglutide is cheaper but if you're paying cash for the product (insurance wont pay for this drug) maybe you buy eli's drug for modern efficacy, who knows. eli lillie is a huge producer of insulin which is why these diabetes drugs were in their wheelhouse initially.

    Cool, thanks for the extra info! I was wondering, since the drug only satisfies the gastric motility, could a large part of the obesity crises be averted through education, community support, investment in sports programs? Only, 1200 a month is absurd, especially if these issues could be easily solved from a social standpoint.

    The main problem with turning office spaces into apartments is the plumbing. For an Office you need like two big bathrooms and maybe a kitchen. now if you turn an entire floor of Office space into flats you need dozens of both. Super expensive and sometimes not even possible. Easiest sollution is to have a large communal restroom area with showers and turn the entire Office into student housing or whatever, but then you wont make alot of money renting them out

    Eh, it may be difficult but NYC is actually way behind the ball on this. There has been a huge wave of office building conversions to residential since 2020. Many are already complete and the early adopters are cities where the population is still growing massively (from people leaving places like NYC).

We get sooo many calls and we can barely keep up with demand (which is still better than 99 percent of pharmacies). We probably order and sell at least 5 to 10 Ozempic, Mounjaro, and Wegovys a day. And we sell every single one of them. Our fridge in the back is probably worth at least 100 thousand dollars lmao.

    The thing with Ozempic is that technically is not a weight loss medicine but its side effects effects after lowering your carvings and decreasing gastric motility is weigh loss. It mentions the weight (imo) because its life changing to those who have a harder chance to lose weight because of insulin resistance (pre-diabetic, like me) and diabetes as it regulates what was failing from you. Is actually lifechanging for those who are pre or diabetic and does makes a difference even if you stop taking it. The issue with Ozempic comes its its popularity with those who doesnt really need it; aka those who just want to lose a little weight for the summer or for any event they want and if they stop, they might gain that weight again because their alimentary habits doesnt change. Its pretty annoying the shortage for those who need it :')

    I would be careful with the magic weight loss drug, I work at a law firm and I hear horror stories every day from that drug, and all of the knockoffs too. The main thing I hear is people getting Gastroparesis from it, which is the paralyzation of the stomach. Food is just not getting digested and just sitting in their stomachs, as well as persistent diarrhea, vomiting, and nausea. So stay safe out there, look up the side affects and I'm sure you will find law firms doing mass tort cases regarding the drugs.

    I can say from experience that the most fun thing to do after coming back from a combat operation or patroll of some sort would be to play war games. Early deployments it was like MW2 and later ones it was Tarkov. Idk what it is, part of it is that most of us are in the war business because we enjoy it, plus these are the games most everyone would be playing back stateside too, and maybe there can be something to be said about having a fake game where shooting someone or getting shot doesnt mean anything to take your mind off of how hard it is to process one of your closest friends getting killed

    I am honestly a bit ashamed about how Ozempic is marketed in the states. I get that Novo has an American branch that probably does the marketing for the states, but that marketing would never fly in Denmark, let alone Europe. And I think Novo should hold themselves to a higher standard.

    Do you know what a business's job is? Why would they do that?

  • @minihali

    @@MarkEdwardSinclair It might be a bit hard to understand just how big Novo is outside of Denmark. But here in Denmark it is currently the biggest business we've ever had, ever. It is so big, that the tax Novo is paying is speculated to keep Denmark out of a recession. AND they actually pay tax. I can't remember remember who, but one of the guys waaaay up the chain said something like "we'll play by the rules, just like everyone else" which is commendable. Especially when you hear people like Jeff Bezos or gigantic companies shifting money around to pay as little tax as possible. Money, that could benefit everyone. And from what I hear, and from what I know from friends that work there, Novo pays REALLY well. Like more than I would get with a university degree, even for low skill labour. And the work enviroment should be pretty damn good too from what I hear. Novo might be the only business, I know, that takes responsibility for the people working there and treats them with the care and respect I'd expect a company as big as them should. And Novo, form what I know, is a business that can be pretty damn proud of who they are. So it does leave a bit of a sour taste, seeing this touchstone of a company most Danes are proud of not reflect that in how they present themselves in foreign markets. Especially when I see this "and also I lost some weight" BS at 2:59 which just seems dishonest and desceptive. Especially when the disclaimer text literally contradicts the message of the ad. I would expect them to be better and be honest about their product. All that said, I am sure there are some parts of Novo that is shady. With so many people working for a business, there will innevitably be some that don't have the best interest of people in mind. And business aren't friends, they are for profit to make money. So I am aware, that Novo doesn't need to have my best intrest in mind. But from their actions, I do have a lot of respect for them.

    The frustrating part of both them advertising it as a weight loss drug and people who don't need it are using it is the fact it's not reaching diabetics who genuinely need it. We also don't know what the long term side effects are yet.

    The interesting part to me is the limited supply. Looking at the molecule of Semaglutide it’s obviously not easy to synthesize. It’s the same story as non-animal insulin, all over again.

  • @SargeBangBang

    The limited supply is due to 1 manufacturer and the insane demand

  • @radomane

    @radomane

    9 ай бұрын

    @@SargeBangBang Novo Nordisk is the largest supplier in the world (51% by volume in 2010). Operating profits have been steadily declining over the last years, producing insulin is not as profitable as it used to be. They need a new source of revenue. Semaglutide is synthesized using a process which involves genetically modified yeast. As far as I’ve been able to tell, all of Novo Nordisk’s products do. This is considered to be a more expensive, more complicated process than in E. Coli bacteria like Eli Lilly does, though there are benefits. It needs more steps to get a pure end-product and there might be complications with Semaglutide which did not exist for other peptides. If it was possible, not just economically but actually feasible for Novo Nordisk to meet the demand, they would meet it. There is no other logical explanation for why they wouldn’t be able to meet the current demand, unless A. The global manufacturing capacity for the process does not exist or B. The ability to scale up the process does not exist. Also the use of semaglutide against obesity might just be a flash in the pan phenomena and could completely disappear as a market in a matter of seconds. If they bet the company on it, and some new side effects are discovered that cause it to lose approval for obesity, it would decimate the global insulin supply chain.
