I'm impressed by how bad she is at investing. Imagine having funds, that came from the crypto market. Who would be insane enough, to invest those back into crypto. You're literally falling for your own scam. What the hell.

crypto itself is not a scam, its just a trustless money system, the value of which can be demonstrated pretty clearly by just pointing at what happens to debt/trust based economies, e.g 2008 The scammy bit of crypto comes from the fact that it is for the most part completely unregulated, so scam artists can move in and do their shit. A really good example of the same thing in action are those companies heavily pushing to invest in gold, gold itself is not a scam and has practical uses that create its value, the issue is the culture around gold investing is actually built on gold futures which is just a formalised form of trading IOU's, if gold was as poorly regulated as crypto currently is wed see just as bad of a scam culture there as we are currently in crypto. Ultimately the real scam is not the asset class, its bad actors predating on people who are disillusioned with the economy, those people naturally gravitate to technologies mediums and assets that potentially circumvent the aspects of the economy they are dissilusioned with (Gold and crypto share a trait in that their value is extrapolated almost entirely from their controlled supply and their practical usage, as opposed to "its this much because it has to be that much for me to be able to pay back my national debt") which also means those bad actors gravitate to those same technologies mediums and assets. I have friends in both camps of the extremes in crypto, the heavy distaste bordering hatred, and the nftbro monkey jpeg enjoyers, what i have discovered from interacting with them, is they both suffer from either an unwillingess or inability to educate themselves on the actual technology, this only makes the scam culture worse, because a poorly educated populace is an easy one to take advantage of. I dont entirely blame them either, because the camp that im in (cypherpunk movement, the original progenitors of cryptocurrency technologies) is too busy detaching themselves from society due to distate for it to actually educate anyone so most of the information out there is just fucking garbage. Personally, seeing sectors like the UK put more of an emphasis on embracing crypto currencies at a governmental level does give me some hope that this will change moving forward, because the technology as i mentioned has genuine value so ignoring it wont make it go away, so the only way to clean up the space is to legtimise it and codify actual regulations. Example most people dont know that defi exists as a sector, i mean theyve heard about what defi does "those idiots are staking poocoin on shitchain to make clowncarcoin" but i dont think anyones ever stopped to go "wait hold on, how did defi get legitimised as an investment sector to the point people actually put money into this crap" because there are genuinely real defi organisations making real defi products, its just... theres no legal structure those defi organisations can fit within, so legally speaking theres no difference between them and those blatant scams, so of course scams were going to go rampant there, second you codify a legal representation of what a dao is that shit goes away because now you can actually point a finger at the bad actors, because without that structure who do you charge for the crimes committed by a dao? the person who uploaded the code? the people who invested in it and got voting rights as a result? whos at fault there? I mean logically its whoever was committing the actions right, but legally its not that clear, and that legal ambiguity is whats enabling the scams.

continuing on but thats getting a bit long tbh so its getting to be a pita to edit. But take like the FTX shit, that wasnt because of crypto, the scam FTX pulled could work with literally any asset class, because what it was was "So you send me your money, and trade assets on my platform, ill uh.... take your money and do shit with it, i promise when you go to withdraw ill settle all the shit i did so i can pay you back" which should be familiar because thats just what fractional reserve banking is. The issue, is unlike fractional reserve banking where banks are HEAVILY regulated and so if they did the risky ass trades that ftx was doing theyd get so many economics flavored three letter organisations deep dicking them so fast they wouldnt even have time to be on the news before they get destroyed. Ftx on the other hand was trading in an unregulated market so it got to do all this blatantly illegal shit for a really long time undetected, if crypto was recognised as a proper asset class, and regulated under the same scrutiny then FTX would have been audited pretty heavily and pretty regularly so this wouldve been caught long before any damage couldve been done.

we really need to tax the rich more. if you make over a million dollars a year, you dont need that much money to survive as a person. we could tax as much as 50% of that, and youd still be living a far more comfortable and wealthy life than the rest of us

I do agree with Caroline on not using Stop losses. In HFT world stop losses can be easily hunted (see stop loss hunting) and can work against you. Having said that, some exhanges do provide Stop-Limit order which is better but still not great. Also the usage of math, I think what she meant by math is proper research level math which you generally learn in a math degree , are not used that much in HFT type firms. I’m not saying they dont use at all but its more used on the modelling side. The reason being simple computations are faster and being first is easier than being smart (in some cases).

Yeah Remington has been branding their rifles in COD for like a decade now MW3 the ACR has Remington plastered on the side same thing with the MSR and RASS. Colt also has their CM901 rifle branded in the game. And frankly this advertising campaign is successful because a lot of my friends bought rifles and pistols they used in COD or battlefield. Huge win for the modern US gun community.

honestly netflix could probably learn from japans pop up marketing for their expansion into physical experiences and merch stores. I don't even think it'd need to adapt much to the western audiences much either. I'd love to see a stranger things exhibit with concept art, merch, and flashing lights.
