@TheNYgolfer

@@ruckerbrady8342 If it could mean "a boat load f other things" then it's not Christianity. Christianity -the religion based on the person and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth, or its beliefs and practices. Why do you assume that because he is sweetheart and a kind man that he follows Jesus? Jesus was a Jew and he preached Judaism. He said "I am the King of Jews". Paul reinvented Jesus after his death and Christianity was born. Millions were tortured and burned at the stake over 500 plus years in his name. So much for it being a religion of tolerance and peace.

Don, I remember you well. I worked out for years at Larry and Louie Barnholth's garage in Akron. When I first met you I instantly recognized you to be a good person treating me and anyone else you met with great respect. At that time I was amazed at how you took 315 lbs and pressed it like it was nothing. You were massive but not as huge as you would be later. What was most impressive about you was your cheerful and humble personality. You treated all with respect as if they were good friends. I think you had just married Cindy then another pro athlete. I was young and thought you were quite a bit older than my 17 years but now I am 72 and realize our ages were not that far apart. I think I also met your parents who were very nice people. I still work out and you must be doing some form of physical activity as well.Nice to see that you are still looking fit. Mike N.

He’s from my hometown and lived there for quite a long time. It’s pretty sad that the lifting community knows about him more than the people in my town do. He was always an avid member of the community and would visit local schools to give speeches all the time and gave back so much. My mom knew him and I got the opportunity to see him quite a few times. I hope at some point I’ll get the chance to talk with him. I’ve wanted to figure out a way to get my town to make a statue for him and throughout my lifting journey he’s always been my biggest inspiration and hero.

i do not know this man, but a nice comment from you to this man for sure. I know of people in other stories that would well deserve a statue for what they did, the one i know very well is 83 years old, a classic hard working coalminer back in the days , still working, always giving, not asking for anything. The backbone of what we may enjoy today, so respect for people who did something good for everyone, and still be humble. I feel your comment , this powerlifter deserves a statue. By the way, i am from the Netherlands. His name "Reinhoudt" sounds like Belgium ancestors

In summary...Strongest raw. Strongest in sleeves. Strongest in the world. WOW!
This guy is my new favorite strength athlete ever alongside guys like Brian, what a legend
Don Reinhoudt was the man in the 70's. And it was wraps not sleeves!
It's so sad Don was injured at the World's Strongest Man in 1980. He could have given Kazmaier a run for his money!

Don Reinhoudt is a great Champion!!!
Very Impressive; I am a Kaz fan, however, Don was definitely up there based on these lifts.
Jeeez, it looked like he took a 10 step walk out. That alone is incredible.
Don was a great lifter as was Larry Pacifico and Vince Anello and others when I started my career in 1975. However, pound for pound, Lamar Gant was the greatest.

@@vfs148 Gant (123, 132) was definitely one of the greatest but he competed in a weight class that was less competitive than Ed Coans (220,242) weight class. There are not too many strong 130 lbs guys running around. Ed Coans deadlift of 901@220 was probably the greatest lift of all time in my opinion.

I was like, wait wouldn't he still be the best of all time.
If I remember correctly, the 2391 total was actually 2420,based on the face value of what he called for.after the meet the weights were weighed and they measured 2391.It was done at the 1975 Chatanoga Open,if I recall correctly.Met him at a contest in York and had him sign on old MD magazine. He was a cool person to talk to.
I was always a fan from when he was a gentleman giant on World Strongest Man in the 70s.
Wtf this guy pause squatted more weight RAW than most people could even do equipped 😳
Sad news. July 3rd, 2023, Don Reinhoudt has passed away. For everyone commenting what a great person he was, you are so, so right. He lived his life in service to others and left a legacy of caring that is a wonderful example for us all. I just hope that I can make half the impact on other's lives that you did, Donnie!
i live in the same town as DON, back in the 80's he would come to our school and amaze us school aged kids with his feats of strength, tearing up full size phone books (dont know what that is google it) rolling up frying pans with his bare hands, popping basketballs with his bare hands, tug of war against like 20 elementary aged kids, with one hand/arm. he was a cool dude, just average guy when he was home in Brocton NY. (Western NY)
There’s a typo he lifted 2298 in pounds
I remember him well, Big Don....he was a brute, old school and easy going guy.
keep up the great videos all the content is great
Theres is a typo in the total
Yo, zack (at the end of the video) has some sick form
Mike bridges, Innaba, Jon Kuc, John Under they were all great!!
My favorite lifter of all time and a true class act.
Great video! Jon Cole next? 😊
If you wanted to submit a video for you to show at the end, how would we do that?
Excellent video. Thanks from us here in Denmark. Feb. 10, 2021
I love these style of videos!
Holy shit! Didnt knew this guy existed and he even won 1979 WSM and legendary Kazmaier placed 3rd
He also held the deadlift record until Kaz squat raw for many years since Dave Waddington 103 the 990 and later 1014 fro Hatfield both suited.
Saw him at the Seniors in in Ft Worth, 74 or 75, way too many years ago to remember 😳
Very interesting vid my man!
Every powerlifter and strongman I saw they have long arms therefore dominating the deadlift which is not he case here as Don had short arms making his deadlift much harder and hence more impressive.
WNY’s own, went to Fredonia
If it wasn't for his injuries, I believe he could have won at least one more WSM title, and his battles with Kaz would have been incredible to see.
Don was a legend for sure , So respect these guys as a former power lifter Paul Anderson Dan Ryan out these guys never touched any sports enhancing meds , far as I know, and had no equipment at all practically compared to what we do today and just incredible feats of strength raw power

I met Don on a boardwalk once
Whatever happened to John Kuc whose deadlifts & squat records were erased because because power lifting association hadn't formed yet.Add Big Jim Williams bench that wasn't allowed so Kasmaier took it at lower weight.
How much of this record is due to changes in the rules and regulations? I saw Andy Bolton talking recently and he said he would have loved to have competed without equipment but it wasn’t really an option. The highest level was equipped so that’s what people did. And more recently raw and especially single lift specialists are more viable now that you can make money with just a social media presence and some impressive lifts. That wasn’t an option for a lot of amazing lifters for a few decades. Now we tend to see it a choice - you can compete equipped or raw. But in reality that’s a recent development.
No doubt, Reinhoudt is one of the greatest. Huge guy.
So how do you spell his name?
Οne of the, some of the, maybe the best. HE IS THE BEST END OF STORY.
