    Great video as always Cesar! I am intrigued by the explanation starting around 28:00 because I know a lot of players who firmly believe it's impossible to transfer any (opposite) side spin from cue ball to object ball, and then there are many who are sure that it is possible. It's quite a hot debated topic. But I have to say personally, I find it hard to believe that at that pace the side spin made such a difference.

    As Steve Davis showed in his video, its a myth and for practical purposes it wont happen. That ronnie shot was hard squeeze on the cushion and unnatural bounce off and thats why the older players didnt use doubles as each table cushion was diff and thus the angle you get off would be diff and you cant practise that but these days you see lots more doubles played and they seem to go in but you can never really be sure and theres always a sort of "fluke" element to them and thus the "gentleman" game ,you dont do just as smashing balls and hoping for a fluke then a 70 break to win the frame isnt cricket. Today they do anything to get in and win as the stakes are so high and young players have no fear it seems

    The spin transfer is real and does change the object ball's bounce angle. You can test it in your club on the graphic example, double in the middle. I have played it hundreds of times, literally.

    those who think that the spin doesnt transfer to the object ball are not good players, and they are not very good at physics either. All you need is a ball that is multicolored (like stripes in pool), and you can play ay shot and see that the opposite spin transfers into the object ball. Ex: put back spin on cue ball, see top spin on object ball.

    The commentator hit the nail on the head when he said you need full control of your emotions. In this sport, like so many others, you don't think about who your opponent is, what the current state of play is or even try to win. You just play to take the best you can and forget everything else. You will win more often that way.

  • @rrs_13

    @rrs_13

    Жыл бұрын

    Yesnt. it's not pretty, but you can always read your opponent and make defences that annoy him the most. Whenever you can nail that, it becomes easier because your opponent is playing versus you and his own mindset. Head game is part of the game. Both keeping your cool and knowing when to take advantage of someone else loosing theirs.
