@@azurekite3870 Some switch games sadly are going that route like LOZ. Not only that they never go on sale on switch. At least on all other platforms like PS, X1, and PC their games all go onsale even first party. Sadly the one thing nintendo doesn't know how to do or want to do. Give customers a better price for waiting...This is why I'm more of a PC person but I can say nintendo doesn't make the always full price tag on their game attractive like it does on steam sales or even playstation and xbox sales. You can have fantastic games go down to $20 even that everyone enjoys and noone can really say its bad, so its not even about quality making the price remain high for nintendo its about greed. Just like limited run games.

I wish Tail Concerto would get rereleased. That game was fun.

That’s weak. They gave klonoa 1 and 2 the real remaster treatment sucks they didn’t do that here

That's a ROUGH 44. Sony is missing a bet not setting up a publishing arm to offer PS1, PS2, and even PS3 games on PC that have no native PC version available. With older titles, an emulated console version can be more stable than a PC game of that vintage that hasn't had regular maintenance or the GOG treatment.

Of course it is emulated. Never expected anything else from them. You are better off ripping your original disc and playing it through DuckStation. Same with the Gex games.

What's the point? With retroarch you can make it widescreen, upscale it as much as you want, and add scanlines/lcd shaders. There is no way it will look better than I can make it look already.

What I typically do with limited physical releases, is if it's a game I really wanna play at launch, I'll order the Switch physical from LRG or whoever. Then I buy it digitally on Steam or Playstation and play that version while my preorder is in production. Otherwise I just wait for my physical version to come through the mail before I play it

The Monkey Paw definitely curled with the wish of Tomba coming back but at the cost of it being done by/through LRG. I'm still super stoked for it though, one of my favorite PS1 games and a truly underrated series

I would rather spend my money on decent condition original discs of Tomba 1 and 2, then emulate for myself on my retro handhelds or PC. I understand what they are going for, not everybody cares enought to setup and emulator, but you know the price isnt going to match the effort they put into these "ports" on modern consoles. Were back to Sony/ Limited Run dosent really care about you, just your money.

Oof. Tomba has REALLY risen in prices due to their quality and cult following. I was lucky to buy the first one for 50 bucks but man 2 is 200 for Disc ALONE

I thought that Sony Computer Entertainment owned the Tomba! franchise. But no, they had the right to release the games outside of Japan. That's the same with Cool Boarders as well.

The Carbon Engine is a bit more complex than just say it's an emulator! Besides the purpose behind it is to bring old retro games to modern systems, but also give that authentic feeling like you are playing OG hardware. I don't see any problems at all, the game costs like $200 used on the PS1, so now it's soon possible to pre-order it for the fraction of the price that scalpers want for the original. I'm stoked for this game, it finally gives me the chance to buy it for a reasonable price!

Like you I assumed the collection would have both Tombas but I knew by the title it likely did not.

How in the world do people take the console wars so seriously to the point of murder?? I thought console wars ended after we left middle school 😂😂

I wasn't exactly sure what to expect... but I thought somehow it was going to be an enhanced version of the game... not just a ps1 rom ran through an "engine". Save states and rewind isn't an actual enhancement to me... thats some basic ass emulation stuff.

No need to get that pissed off over something so unimportant, and all the guy had to do was save up some more money and get his PS5. I mean it could have been assumed, but the reveal trailer didn't actually reveal much of anything other than the game would exist. It was just the opening cinematic, no gameplay. They had the carbon engine logo with all the other logos at some point, but I didn't know exactly what to expect. I am not 100% but I think this may be the first carbon engine PlayStation 1 game? But besides that, I wasn't sure if they were going to do any actual enhancements. They hadn't shown game screenshots or video until recently, and yeah it looks to be a non enhanced PS1 game being emulated. I was thinking or possibly hoping there would be more to it than that. Im not against retro or old school games being emulated and resold... but as I have said with many other games on my channel that release there has to be value behind it... a good collection with decent extras. I dont see value in save states and rewind as special features... so really for me the presentation with the behind the scenes stuff and the developer docs type things need to be really well presented. I dont know the final price, thats why I wasn't out right saying screw this game. But why not bundle Tomba 1 and 2? Oh because they can sell them separately for more profit.... I think emulating a game no matter the emulator or engine and selling it isn't some kind of revolutionary or amazing thing.

I haven’t played any carbon engine game so I can’t really speak on it, but for me what matters in emulation is performance, slowdown accuracy, input lag, faithful colors/presentation, etc. while I understand what the majority want is a nifty presentation with galleries and such, I personally don’t value that as much since galleries, music players, dev interviews will and can be dumped online the next day. And if there are multiple games in re releases to satisfy your bang for your buck for me it doesn’t matter if it doesn’t even play better than the original game on original hardware or via emulation, and again I have not played or heard anything about the carbon engine so their emulation can be very basic for all I know. But ideally it’s like M2 shot triggers quality for me and I’ll be happy. But if it is a very basic emulator (ie input lag might be worse, slowdown accuracy is not accurate, etc) than they really should compensate with galleries,music player and or other games since what’s the point?

I bet that dude was one of those guys that review bomb Zelda games. If you're like this, take that guy's advice. The world's lighter in my opinion.

My brother in Accordion Awareness, its been known since the announcement that Tomba Special Edition was coming to Carbon Engine (MVG’s Emulation engine for LRG).

Yeah, i'm not impressed. I can emulate this on my PC.. and probably better.

I can only hope modders can somehow make this a remaster and do the work these lazy devs fail to do for such a great gem of a game i'm disapointed really was expecting a simple remake but to see it's not getting any treatment to make it be a remaster atleast has me annoyed
