I've been thinking a lot about something today; and not sure why I haven't thought of it before. Richard, if you created a fishing book/pamphlet; it would make the world of fishing a better place. Seriously, can you imagine a book that covered fishing knots, lure types, what colors work in what scenarios, how to fish in what temperatures for which fish. I mean, I could go on and on. Richard is such a wealth of knowledge. I'd buy his fishing guide in a split second. Seriously, like this comment if you agree.

Same family, but Sauger can handle warmer water than Walleye. They also will stay alive in a live well better. Walleye will die if the water gets too warmer and you'll have to run the aerator/recirculation non-stop. If you don't Walleye will be dead in no time. Neither spawn well south of Iowa because they need very cold water and continously moving water to hatch. In Kansas where I live we have both, but most are stocked every year just to maintain them. Most of our lakes have 18" minimum length to keep them, with a few lakes having 15" length and you can only keep 5 per day.

Richard you already know this but some viewers might not. Your boat selection is perfect for dam fishing. Folks your high dollar fiberglass boats isn't what ya want around concrete walls and the ramps around dams isn't always the best. When my buddy lived in Tennessee we fished Watts Bar Dam a lot. I had a Ranger Comanche and he had a Bass Tracker w/ 50 hp. Guess which boat we took to the dam? One thing he did was to set two anchors on the front deck tied to the front of the boat. If for some reason we got into bad water and the engine didn't start he could pitch them over. If you anchor to the back it could be pulled under. We spent a lot of time fishing in the swift water, actually the calm line between the swift and calm water. Richard you remind me a lot of him, the beat partner I ever fished with. All the egos were left at the dock, he fished slightly faster than I did which was perfect and either one of us could switch styles at the drop of a hat. When he needed to move for family reasons we both unintendedly quit fishing. We were both married with kids so don't let me sound too gay! lol

This is the perfect channel, a grandpa teaching us how to really catch fish and not get so bogged down in having the "best/most expensive/newest" set up. The perfect fishing channel for everyone :D

I grew up videotaping every episode i could of Championship Fishing, In Fisherman, etc... but Richard takes me back to fishing with my grandpa who always knew where they were biting and how to catch em with basic kit. And behind every great "sport" ive ever known was a great spouse. God bless you Richard and your family. And thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Love to watch when I've the time, love the antics! We're Rick and Sue from Indian Lake, Ohio. My folks are from KY. and you remind me of a lot of my family from around Guage and Jackson in Breathitt Co.. Dad and I loved fishing this lake for walleyes and saugeye, it had walleyes and they stocked a bunch of saugeyes one year. Dad fought for Patton in N. Africa WWII, M10 Tank Destroyer commander. We caught a nice walleye one year and WE were hooked, best eating fish around if ya ask me. We fished a lot in this one place, private property so it was kinda our thing, we were always trying to catch that big one. We'd have fish just stripping line off our reels every now and again. The year after the old soldier died I went by myself. I wound up on my knees crying then thought, hell if the old soldier was watching he'd want to see me fishing. Walked down the shore a few yards and next cast I caught a beauty 81/2 pounder! Spent some more time on my knees, went home and had that one mounted.

Richard, Excellent episode as always. Sauger fishing reminds me of how we walleye fish up in the N country only with 4" plastics. We like zippering the walleye when we clean them. It removes the bloodline and pin bones. Curious about the heavy fresh water comment. Salt water is heavier, maybe you meant fresh water is less buoyant? Keep up the Great Work !
