My coworker told me to get a roadrunner, bobby garland baby shad and some 4lb test when I got into fishing and he wasn't wrong. Between that and your videos I've been able to catch fish when no one else is getting a bite. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with the world -- not everyone had a fishing mentor growing up.

The paddle tail will create drag therefore slowing down the bait further. HOWEVER, too slow will render the tail useless. I would suggest the new 2" size of the Keitech Easy Shiner. It's PERFECT for something like this! I'm a fan of the Roadrunner and have tied a custom one on my channel.

On that floss tie, if you start at the hook side and work towards the head, you can leave some tag and it will be hid under the plastic. Will act like a keeper just a bit, too, giving the plastic a little extra to hold on to.

Crappie Small Bass & Pumpkinseed’s we’re hitting it . Had great fishing for 3 hours before sunset. Fun, Fun, Fun. Now I will pay attention to what I did and refine it. I like fishing a lot of small jiggs lately I just purchased a bfs rod and reel. I never liked spinning rod ultralights, so I’m trying out the baitcaster ultralights. Most of the water I fish is high pressured fishing. Rarely do I bump into really big bass . So I’m looking forward to getting out fishing Tuesday for the first time to try it out. I’ll definitely be trying some small jiggs . Thanks for your tips man .

I've been fishing for awhile (bass and catfish) and only have caught a few crappie here and there and recently decided I wanted to learn how to catch crappie. I've been trying a naked roadrunner with Zman, crappie magnet, and mule fishing swim baits and catching more than I've ever caught before. My first trip out after the weather change I caught 20 crappie, I couldn't believe it. Thanks for all the tips Mr. Gene!

Richard, you said that when you are letting a jig fall, you count, "one-one hundred, two-one hundred...." That puzzled me somewhat because when I was a kid, I was taught to count, "one-one thousand, two-one thousand...." I think I figured it out though. I was using a bigger jig and you were using that itty-bitty 1/32 ounce jig. You were using a smaller lure, so you had to use smaller numbers. Thanks for all of your videos, they are very entertaining and doggoned informative. That's a win-win.

Tò keep the tail on the jig I use regular thread, wind it uneven on the hook, like Gene did the dental floss only uneven, and then coat it with clear fingernail polish. The thread is rough and holds the bait. I'll try the dental floss trick - may work better. Nice video Gene
