    Epic session mate. Maybe try changing trebles to a wider gap for better hookup rate. Worked wonders on my hardbodies for jacks and Barra. Thanks again mate loving your work.

    That was epic mate. Brilliant conditions and fantastic fishing. Have you ever thought of running a short section of single strand wire to your jig? Like 30-40lb wire? Here where I fish in South East Asia I run about 20cm of single strand 30lb wire to both my vertical and slow pitch jigs as the mackerel will snip off my jigs in a fraction of a second. With how hot the bite is over there in Oz I don't think the fish will shy away too much. I've landed mackies, cobia, queenies, goldies, barracuda and all the other usual suspects with wire traces. Might me worth considering as I know how painful it can be to lose jigs and fish.

    Bowly.. These fish are hitting these lures mouth closed to stun the fish. After the initial strike try to keep your lure as close in the proximity to where it first hit. The fish will come back mouth open to eat. Use wider gap hooks to have a better hookup ratio. This technique is easier said than done due to you wanting to set the hooks into whatever strikes. All this is just a suggestion :) Let that bait soak and make small twitches! Tight lines mate.

    Whats up with that rod on the silver baitcaster.? It twists so much under pressure that the guides go underneath like a threadline rod. Surely you must notice this. Besides the drag is and has always been sticky as possible could be.

  • @bowlysfishing

    @bowlysfishing

    2 ай бұрын

    It’s a spiral wrapped rod. It’s designed like that and has many benefits vs a traditional overhead rod. The drag you are saying is sticky is just drag being ripped through the added pressure of my thumb being on the spool and not the drag of the reel itself 👍🏼
