Hey mate, thanks heaps. The fish was actually only pinned from one stinger which was a 1/0 Vanfook DT58 but the main hook is a 8/0. I think adrenaline helps to lift the big ones

Back in the day when I used to fish Weipa for Barra I preferred the gold Rapala Husky Jerk for its superior suspending performance. Ive predominantly been casting big paddle tail SPs in the Fitzroy but when using HBs I’ve been using the Squirrels. I’ll heading back there just after next neaps, as it’s just down the road from me, and based on your recommendation I’ll drop the casting altogether, turn off my hummingbird, go get a couple of gold bombers, upgrade the hooks, start trolling about aimlessly, see how many catfish jump on this time. I’ll let you know how i go.

nah not the biggest. have a look at the local Rockhampton news, there was a 1.5m+ barra caught just near the bridge at the rockhampton barra tournie. It's guesstimate weight was 50-60 kg. A true donkey!!!! around the year 2000. Have a look.
