Watch in 1080p + headphones for best quality!!!
Just a small edit I was thinking about in the past time, and the newest episode of the bad batch motivated me to put it all together. It's nothing big, but I quickly got attached to Howzer and I loved what they did with him. It's really interesting seeing him and a few members of his squad resisting the effects of the inhibitor chips, creates many questions about how they really work. I hope we get to see more of Captain Howzer, you can think of this as a little tribute him!

    Bruh, that was so emotional. This is why i think TCWs version of order 66 is much more sad than legends, i mean in legends they knew and couldn't wait to kill the jedi but that makes them just stormtroopers, them actually being good people to look up to then being forced to go against all they stand for and become the enemy they were fighting hits much better.

    Yeah, it was weird on how some clones were very close to their generals and somehow just did the order without thinking about it. The chip made more sense in terms of certain clones, and the rest weren’t very close with the Jedi so I can’t blame them for believing the lies that the empire told about the Jedi.

  • @crossml3890

    @crossml3890

    Yeah I didn't know much about it until recently when I met this guy online who knew a ton about the pre-Disney canon, and i brought up how genius order 66 was in TCW, and he said that the expanded version in his opinion was better because it was darker. Thats when i learned the clones actually just wanted to kill the jedi which i thought just makes you hate them, you just start thinking they must just be assholes, but it hits much harder to have us get attached to these clones and their relationship with the jedi and to actually show them being friends and the jedi saving them and treating each one of them as a unique important person other than just some disposable clones. Then to make the clones use all that trust and love from the jedi to stab them in the back and see the clones all of a sudden act like all those years were nothing, seeing them treat the jedi like they haven't even met them before, it just makes such a bigger impact.

    It doesn't make them stormtroopers, because stormtroopers are actual people with families, and clones were engineered to follow orders, it shows how messed up the morals in current Star Wars franchise are, when actual people matter less than engineered clones, Legends gets this right by making them worse than normal people. Militaries all over the world don't need chips in their heads to execute orders from the President, or commit any atrocious acts

    @@grezz975 The Nulls are Super Perfect Hyper Competent Brainwashed Super Soldiers with zero personality outside of Ordo who barely has a personality. They are loyal sociopaths to Skirata. The series states this multiple times. Bad Batch are individuals without surface level traits or the desire to skin and wear the skin of sentient beings. They have personality and differences. They’re also unique in not being as intentionally super with traits that are both good and bad. So they’d probably lose because Traviss had no understanding of balance. The Nulls were made to be winners and continued to be shown as such. The Batch are a bunch of lovable losers. They would have a hard time winning against a squad of 7? (Can’t remember how many since Ordo is the only one that really gets page time) Clones that were built to have every single one of their personal traits in one clone instead of spread out across 4. Strength of Wrecker, Senses of Hunter, Intelligence of Tech, and Efficiency of Crosshair in a single package. And Skirata is one giant hypocrite (who is worst than the Jedi because at least they’re honest about it and don’t mask it with an excuse of love) that originally I loved in my first reads because I didn’t notice it but as the series went on and I’d reread the books every time a new one came out, I realized he’s one giant scumbag. Feeling bad about it later doesn’t excuse what he did to Etain and by proxy, Darman. Apologizing and allowing it later doesn’t excuse it. She did nothing that he didn’t already do except worse because hers was actual love. Not guilt and trying to use the clones to make up for being a terrible father to his own children. In rereading the series because of the Bad Batch, it was super interesting to see how often Skirata constantly got called out for his crap and hypocrisy. Usually by Vau who is by far way better a “father” to his clones (though I think Bralor was the best. Her boys were good boys with manners and less psychotic tendencies). Skirata was about to go on one of his self righteous rants about Delta and Sev and got shut down because Omega and him did worse. He’s an unintentional cult leader where ARCs like Maze and Captain Tactful along with other Mandos point this out time and again. So yeah, I’m good with Skirata not coming back or at the very least getting toned down because he’s not a good person and he’s far from being a well rounded character because unless the character is outside of his cult (or Darman for understandable reasons), Kal’buir is treated as a saint that can do nothing wrong. There’s barely any POV in those books from characters who don’t drink his kool-aid and Darman is the only one that breaks free of his brainwashing of love and hugs and candy.

    The thing people don't get is the inhibitor chips. They are made only to execute the jedi and follow order 66 no matter what. During order 66, clones still had their personalities and individuality, its just that the order 66 was so strong, the couldn't show it. The clones were too focused on the order. Anything else not containing order 66 and the jedi can be denied by clones self thinking. Anything after order 66, clones can do whatever, some of them don't know what to do because they're literally bred into an army. An army that was the Republic, then changed to the empire. They have no one to follow but the empire. If someone can show them the right path, they can choose to follow it if they want to. Clones that you see in the bad batch are doing what they believe in. They are not effected by the inhibitor chips unless a jedi appears or order 66 is activated again.

    It’s amazing how much of an impact two soldiers had. I honestly think had Echo and Fives not been such a strong person the entire clone army would have ended up the faceless killers we saw in Episode 3 during Order 66. But now we have soldiers like Rex, Wolffe, Gregor, The Bad Batch, and now Howlzer who are trying to be what they used to be not what they were destined to become.

    God this edit is just, amazing just generally amazing. It proves that fives was right, that they weren't unthinking droids, and it was true when it was said by him most people agreed. We can see more clones got defective against the chip, it started to wear out therefor of course Palpatine did not want the clones. But when they mentioned Ryloth and we go back to when all the clones died waiting for the supplies, it was true that they swore to keep the people safe, and they did and the comparison was great. Great job on the edit, like honestly very well done!

    the definition of a true soldier has become such a liquid term, similar to the definition of a patriot, is it someone who stands by their leader no matter what? or is it someone who critisizes the leader only because they believe either that those in charge can do better or that the place they live in can be better?

    It really goes a long way and shows that even though the empire is meant to have faceless soldiers that have no humanity the clones will never fall under that category and the good men we knew and loved in the clone wars are still in there and will stand out rather than fade away as nameless stormtroopers

    The tragedy of clones was that may of them truly came to admire and stand for the ideals of the republic, even though most of the republic had already abandoned those ideals long ago. But what made those clones so admirable is that they continued to stand by those ideals, even when everyone told them they were fools to do so. Small wonder Palpatine wanted them gone

    I'm only just now catching up on your last couple edits, but damn! This one gave me chills. Howzer is one of my new favorite clones, I'm so happy TBB introduced him. I really enjoyed the parallels you showed of him, Fives, and Rex. Those three would've been such a great trio if they met! The theme of clones discovering their autonomy and independence is really fun to explore, and you captured that so well here. Great job, as always!
