One of the most under appreciated aspects of Van Halen was their sense of humor and desire to have fun!!!

“I think the Clock Is Slooooow”; how many times I felt like that in certain classes! I was in High School in Bklyn from 1981-1985; we dressed pretty darn cool; always planned the outfit the night before 😂.

"I don't feel tardy." 🤣🤣 This was just a fun video made back in the day before people got butt-hurt over a woman in a bikini. It was a much more fun and all-around better time. IMHO Hmmm...I had this Spanish teacher in the 8th grade who was a sweet bundle of love and who had a chest you could play volleyball on. I still get a warm feeling (at 73) when I think of her.

All part of 70’s-80’s dressing… no one ever complained! It’s a shame Eddie Van Halen passed away🙏🏻 they were the band to see in concert amongst many other great rock n roll bands! Js imo Thanks for sharing Mugnify… check out Sammy Hagar in I can’t drive 55 😉

Looks just like my junior high class in 1984. I was in 8th grade when this came out and this was the style. I live in a rural farm community area in Pennsylvania and girls still had neon tanks, teased hair, ripped stretch pants, and lots of plastic hoops and bands,

They kind of were dressing somewhat like that back then. They were given no filter back in those days to a point, of course it depended on what area you lived in and if it was a progressive school or not

Your absolutely right, many dresses like this and no one ever thought anything about it! It was the 70’s-80’s that had the most fun in funky dressing! ❤ Especially growing up in Miami Florida 😝

That was late-70's to early 80's fun! That was how it was. Every kid in school that I ever knew always wondered what their teachers will look like and be like when they start their school year. Didn't you? lol

I'm not really a VH fan but I love this song. It's funny, has a killer main riff, a kickass solo, and most of all that chorus. The chorus freakin rules. Plus it's funny. Their best work and it's not close.

We definitely dressed all sorts of messed up, but that was like teenager's gear on 10 year olds - I think Waldo was basically a prop so they could have a video lmao - David Lee Roth era of Van Halen is the grimier, when Sammy Hagar came on as singer the topics got a bit deeper. Dave was more about sex, drugs, and cock and balls (his own.) Then in Sam's VH catalog there's even a lyric about aliens showing up in a love song, I mean look at this verse: "And then you sense a change Nothing feels the same All your dreams are strange Love comes walkin' in Some kind of alien Waits for the opening Then simply pulls a string"

Videos in the 80's were fun. There was lots of female sexploitation. I was in the nave back then. The enlisted club at Norfolk had a huge screen video juke box and a big dance floor. There was no shortage of great videos and spilled beer.

What folks your age don't understand is the 80's was a different time altogether, there wasn't all this cancel culture crap going on back then, it was a more laid back period of time. Kids maybe didn't dress like this in grade school, but high school.., yes. There was a gal when I was in high school used to occasionally wear a t-shirt that said "If You like My Mountains You'll Love My Busch". Yes is was a different time.

The music video pretty much ruins the song by playing over the first 10 seconds of the drum intro. Oh well.

I’d suggest not watching the music video. It distracts from the actual music. I suggest you put on a headset, listen to the music only and get your reaction to the actual song rather than the video. Do this with any song which gives the music its actual justice.

I grew up with Sammy as the singer - I can appreciate Dave for the sheer fun-ness and the era for how sick the music is, but man for me the songwriting got way better with 5150 and OU812. The keyboard hate is so strange to me. I mean, the fuck is a piano but a keyboard that basically plays one extremely versatile sample? You never hear an ounce of piano hatred from anybody. None for rhodes, hammond, moog or lowry either.
