Hey everyone! I estimated this fish's weight at about 150lbs based entirely on how it felt. As always happens, I fully expect plenty of "not 150lbs, bro" So keep these points in mind... 1) It's an estimate and it could easily by wrong. This fish was easily over 100 and I believe closer to the 150 mark, but I don't know for sure. It was a guess (although I will point out that I was there and actually held it in my arms, not looking at it on the screen of my phone). 2) If it's really, really important to you that I'm wrong, that's just weird... Like seriously, that's just odd. I believe very, very strongly that the significance of a catch is just as much (often more) about circumstances and personal investment as it is about a fish's size. Even if this fish wasn't as big as I believe it to be, I'm still just as excited to have caught such an incredible animal under these circumstances. Anyway, huge thanks goes out to all my Patreon supporters and public supporters (subscribers) of the channel!! You are THE reason I get to do this and that is never lost on me. Tight lines!

You put a lot of effort in explaining the 150 pound claim, but the fact of the matter is none of us had mud in our pockets over that fish!! and nobody on this side of the screen has any right to debate the weight of that fish with you! I just caught my first gar thanks to you!! I had a bluegill head out and kept missing a fish. I got it close enough to see that it was a big gar. I thought back to you, let some flack out, set my drag, clicked the release and waited. It made several little movements but finally it started running. I clicked over and landed the fish!! I ain't ever purposely caught a gar before. That was fantastic!! Thank you!!

Got him almost to shore and my buddy waded in and saw what it was and ran back. He cut it loose so I never did land it. Seeing what you just did.... I'm glad I didn't. Lol. Great catch, very fun to watch. Thanks for sharing.

I caught one on spider wire with my inlaw in main river in a small town called Ozello Florida...a hour it took to land this gar....he ran every bit of line out and It literally was hanging on by the knot in my line on my reel.....I had to walk up and down the river side and at times I was in the water up toy neck and hold my rod and reel up over my shoulders trying the wear this thing out and finally I landed him....I couldn't get his wieght because he was 6' long but I got great video and pics...my inlaw was a little jealous because people don't realize how old these fish are....and it was a great feeling letting him loose.baxk into the water.....he was 6' in length and 18-20" round...

The reactors aligator gar is 326lbs and average is 40lbs but using big baits like wildlife and waiting longer for the bite will give you a bigger fish

No worrys wild life, if anyone deserves a epic fish like that , it's you mate , I watched your vids for a few years now , and each time , you seem too grow in confidence! Keeping to your own way of fishing , which is raw fishing at its best , 👌 honest and truthful channel guy , always with the book open and writing new chapters , enjoy your capture mate. , make sure you do a nice photo of your gar and frame it , only true fisherman know the hard work put into this game. 🇬🇧🇺🇲💪🎣

You mentioned Jiu-Jitsu... When I was 12 years old I was a chubby, nurdy, bespectacled target of every bully in my school. My dad taught me Jiu-Jitsu, and after I put my first bully on the floor, nobody ever bothered me again. Two years later I added a violin case to chubby, nurdy, and bespectacled. Sixty-three years after that I'm still playing the thing, and almost nobody picks on a chubby, nurdy 77-year-old man carrying a violin case.
