This is why you don't speed - semi rolls over off freeway
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
This is why you don't speed - semi rolls over off freeway. Call came in MUCH worse than it really was; I was expecting the tractor to be attached to a container. Ended up being just a tractor only, which is incredibly rare. Hulk made super quick work of this job, and we got it off the freeway safely without a hitch.
Hope you guys like this quick and easy video!

It's amazing the driver walked away from that. Definitely had someone looking over him.
As a rookie heavy operator I really appreciate the amount of detail in the rigging process and retrieval. I have learned so much from your videos, thank you very much!

check out sumter wrecker also. uses a holmes kirby conversion. youll find older equipment will do everything a new rotator will do but it takes a little more work and knowledge. just like this rotator takes a different set of skills and knowledge. good luck in heavies, theyve been very good to me

Nice pick. It's good to watch someone who understands what the rotator is capable of.

Cool video Josh! Quick and easy. VERY cool that your "tanker tube" has multiple uses. I noticed in the tanker video that it could be used that way and, how about that, I was right!! Also, I continue to respect your commitment to blocking as few lanes as possible. Some people do not realize how important that is. Having done this type of work before, I do.
@PepesTowingService

Yes, it is billed and designed as a tanker tube / lifting beam depending on the position. So far all I've used it for is a lifting beam lol, need a proper tanker to really test it. And you are so right, people love to say "I could have done that without a rotator!" Why yes....as can I, but can you do it all from the shoulder as fast as I can without killing any lanes?
Josh great video! Thanks for sharing. Kevin

If Hector shows up to my tow recovery scene with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth, I'll call another contractor.
You need a Wireless horn for your truck one of those undelay undelay horns
Bobtail is not difficult. But you gotta pay attention. The outfit I'm with now had a bobtail rollover and the driver died. He was at speed 55 to 60 on the interstate Came thru a limited sight interchange traffic stopped dead. I've bobtailed most everywhere. Understand all the weight is on your steer so your rears hop when you brake . Not as bad with abs but it will given the right scenario. Thank Pepe

I’ve been driving for coming up on ten years and I’m still uncomfortable with bobtailing at highway speeds. Tractors aren’t designed to be without weight. Period. 55mph max is my rule with a bobtail.

This happened during rush hour, so traffic was bumper to bumper. My theory is he was riding the shoulder lane illegally when it happened.
Like i said before Josh, you have steering wheel holders and you have truck drivers to have rolled this truck because of speeding makes this a steering wheel holder! Praise God he walked away from this!
Waited till the end to burst
Wait, that will buff out 😁
Hey Josh I was talking to Sumter Wrecker last night and they are looking in to getting a Rotator. I drive to Chattanooga Tennessee a couple of times a month and man Miller has a HUGE lot of recovery vehicles. Tow Porn. :) BTW nice job pulling the Mack out.
@joeacosta5011
2 жыл бұрын
Sumter's first question to answer has to be " Do we want it or do we need it ?" Once you establish that it is absolutely essential to have than it's off to the drawing board. John L. Hawkins III from Miller Industrues will guide you to the right people. As for my advise, the 50-ton is an absolute gem. It can lift 25 000 lbs. at 37' out and has dual 50,000 lb. winches. You of course have 16,000 lb. auxiliary winch option, 35k-50k drag winch option, different underlift options like the knee boom. Don't get me started. God bless your decision whatever it is.
I'm Surprised That Joe's Not Helping You On The Job
Saw the result of a wreck on eastbound I-70 about 6 miles west of Zanesville Ohio yesterday. Driver went right of guard rail at an overpass. He went up the embankment between the end pillar, flipped on side then exploded on the pillar. Truck, trailer and load strewn over landscape and road and into WB lanes traffic backed up for miles. Huge mess and loss of life.

First high boom, long lines so two men could rotate it a bit. Then front line to position front wheels followed by back line to move the back wheels.

Does the rotation of the boom affect lifting capacity? Like, for a given extension of the boom, can you lift the same amount 90 degrees off the side as you can straight off the back?
@PepesTowingService
2 жыл бұрын
What an awesome question! Yes, it absolutely does. Miller trucks have two boom ratings, off the back and 90 degrees off the side. Those are you strongest points because the outriggers. The more you rotate in between them or off the front the weaker you are

@PepesTowingService

Tag lines are great when needed, mainly when there is a lot of play in the cables and turning is easy. In this case, it was not. Physically impossible for the truck to turn, a tag line would have been harder to pull then physically pushing on the tractor.
