This is why Toyota DOMINATES the Overland Scene

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Today I explain why Toyota makes the best vehicles for Overlanding and Offroading. I truly would take a Toyota over any of the offerings from rival manufacturers. Toyota's uncompromising build quality, paired with all their different trucks and SUV's, makes for the ultimate overlanding and offroading lineup.

    I bought two brand new 2003 Access cab-Tundra twenty years ago. SR·5 TRD 16wheels & limited with 17wheels. with leather ( worst mistake leather interior ). I lifted the SR·5 and swamped tires and run the 17 inch wheels all the add on are on this one. run a K&N cold air filter & use Denson Iridium plugs . 120K. and the limited run stock with the 16 wheels. Iridium plus & stock K&N air fliter 71K. I also have a 3rd Tundra SR·5, I use for parts. I've never had a car twenty years, I was spoiled with having a Dealer Demo. New car every 5K miles. I bought the car when I left the dealership.

    I would say the downside of Toyota is the price they are just too expensive compared to similar vehicles. I was looking to get one but I realized I could get a pathfinder for a fraction of a 4Runner. And before anyone says anything about reliability do your research. Nissan was very reliable before Renault bought them. With that being said I would love to get a 1st gen Sequoia and lift it 👍

    Certainly. The pre-Renault R50 pathfinder, especially the VG33E, is a great vehicle. Same with the VG33E Xterra and Frontier. I completely intended to get a VG33E or VQ40 Frontier, but with them being the same price as a V8 Tundra, I couldn't do it. The sequoia's are great rigs!

    You should drive a stock or well built 80 series Landcruiser if you think Jeeps are a good example of what a solid front axle can do. There is no death wobble. It rides smoother than a new JLU. I honestly think Toyota switched to IFS to save money and simplify the design and engineering process. Toyota also has a habit of making their 4x4s more difficult to modify with each generation and solid axles don't lend to that.

  • @208Tyler

    @208Tyler

    Жыл бұрын

    I’m not sure what you’re trying to argue. I didn’t have anything bad to say about solid axles in this video, though I did say IFS generally has a better ride. Every year, Toyota makes 4x4’s that sell and meets the predicted needs of their customers. Consumers don’t care about SA vs IFS, they care about ride quality, handling, etc, and IFS accomplishes that for Toyota and their customers. It’s not about making the vehicle “harder to modify”.

    @208Tyler No Toyota consistently and intentionally makes the trucks harder and more complicated to fit big tires on because they don't like to warranty damage that comes with big tires so they make the body mounts protrude into the wheel wells, and the bumpers have to be cut, and stuff like that. More and more with each gen.

    @Rhanier Santiago The 1FZ-FE really aint bad. Initially the 2UZ made the same hp and about 45 more lbft of torque. I think most of the bad rap the 80 gets is for the 3FE the first two years. You can also regear them by changing the transfer case gears with hand tools at home for less the half the cost of regearing axles.

    For me it’s just the lack of hp and engine upgrades and weak axles that made me steer clear of Toyota. My 500hp ls is plenty reliable so far and my Chevy one ton axles haven’t let me down.

    @@208Tyler i willing too. Spend a little more in gas, rather than parts and mechanic labor. My family has a Toyota Highlander with 170k miles, we ran it when it needed a oil change really bad, and it’s fine. And we aren’t easy on it either. Great car. I’m going to be getting a first gen tundra.
