After Jesus' mission on earth was done, He cried out "It is finished" and He rested in the grave on the Sabbath day before His resurrection. Much like after His work of creation was finished, He rested on the Sabbath day. He says of Himself "For I am the LORD, I change not"

Hi Martin. You are onto something with the Sabbath. The 4th commandment is very clear. God blessed and sanctified the 7th day which only he can do and no Pope or man. Its not Sunday or any other day of the week. Its Saturday which he blessed and sanctified. The manna in the dessert didnt fall for the Israelites on the Sabbath but they gathered more on Friday which didnt go bad and was their food on the Sabbath. May God bless and use you in your studdies.

No Martyn, Sunday is not the Sabbath! As Jesus himself said that He didn’t come to change any of God’s laws and commandments and that He himself observed the Sabbath (from our Friday sunset to our Saturday sunset) and it was a ‘church’ which changed it all, instituting Easter and Christmas onto old pagan festivals and eating of any foods in opposition to God’s ordained weekly Sabbaths, and annual Sabbaths, and clean food laws it is easy to know if we are doing the correct thing just by reading our Bibles thoroughly.

Yes we may rest in him but that never changed nor will it change until Heaven and Earth pass away as the Lord has said. If we love Yeshua, He said we will keep his commandments. History check. The early Christian church did not keep Sunday as the 7th day Sabbath. They very well knew Christ did not abolish the other 9 commandments upon His resurrection on the first day of the week. It wasn’t until paganism infiltrated the church that Sunday was regarded as the Sabbath of the Lord.

The 7th day of the week is Saturday, has and will always be call the Sabbath day. The 1st day of the week is Sunday has never been and never will be call the Sabbath day. However, our rest as born again christian is in Jesus Christ. We do not have to specifically meet only on Saturday. The reason why Sunday has been a prefered day to meet and gather as the body of Christ, the church; is because the Apostles were doing it, also because it is the first day ot the week, the day that Jesus Christ resurrected. We come together to remember one of the greatest day in history, the day our Lord and Saviour resurrected, the day of victory over death. The Apostles will meet on the first day of the week to gather. They will also meet every other day, going from house to house breaking bread. ‭Acts 20:7-8 NKJV‬ [7] Now on the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul, ready to depart the next day, spoke to them and continued his message until midnight. [8] There were many lamps in the upper room where they were gathered together. ‭I Corinthians 16:1-2 NKJV‬ [1] Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given orders to the churches of Galatia, so you must do also: [2] On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come. ‭Acts 2:46-47 NKJV‬ [46] So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, [47] praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved. ‭Romans 8:20-21 NKJV‬ [20] For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; [21] because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. ‭II Corinthians 3:17 NKJV‬ [17] Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. ‭Galatians 5:1 NKJV‬ [1] Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. ‭Romans 14:5 NKJV‬ [5] One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each be fully convinced in his own mind. ‭‭Colossians 2:11-19 NKJV‬ [11] In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, [12] buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. [13] And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, [14] having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. [15] Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. [16] So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, [17] which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ. [18] Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, [19] and not holding fast to the Head, from whom all the body, nourished and knit together by joints and ligaments, grows with the increase that is from God. ‭Galatians 5:13-14 NKJV‬ [13] For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. [14] For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

Very helpful. It is interesting, in the Hebrews 4 passage, that the main word for rest is katapausis, that rest in Jesus Christ by his propitiation of the sins of his people and their trust in him. But in verse 9 the word changes. It is sabbatismos -- a sabbath keeping. For the people of God who have entered God's rest by Jesus, there remains a sabbath-keeping, a day of rest. Each giving of the ten commandments indicates that the sabbath is to give rest to workers, first because God rested, and second because God saved his people from slavery and we must not make others slave for us on the day of rest. The first volume of John Owen's commentary on Hebrews has an essay on the Sabbath day. It is worth reading.

As a former Seventh-day Adventist, who is now Baptist, the Seventh-day Sabbath (Saturday) did mean something to me - rest, family, etc - but it became a burden because the SDA church made the sabbath a bondage, and an excuse for a witch-hunt and slander against Christians (who go to church on Sunday) and a point of division ("we are better than first day sabbatarian Christians because we go to church on Saturday, not Sunday). But....in the Baptist church, sometimes I feel - and this is my opinion - that Sunday has also lost significance, holiness and reverence. Thanks for this message! Good reminder about the symbolism and significance of both the seventh-day Sabbath and now the Lord's Day of Sunday when He rose from the grave and the reason that we all have GRACE with God.

The sabbath was for rest. Social clubs (church) were not part of it. If one wishes to go to church, Sunday is a fine day to do it. The problem is that many who want to do that claim that the 1) Sunday is now the Sabbath, or 2) Rest/family-time in honor of the creator on Saturday is a curse or worthless thing and must be railed against whenever possible. The problem Sabbath keepers have with Sunday church club is not so much that Christians want to gather on the first day of the week -- it's that the vast majority of those who gather on the first day of the week push so many false doctrines that it's arguably psychological abuse. Receiving the mark of the beast is the acceptance of false doctrines on the theory that their promulgator outranks the prophets, Jesus, and the totality of the spiritual witness.

Who changed Sabbath to Sunday? The New Testament plainly shows we are to continue keeping the commandments (Mathew 5:17-18; 19:17; 28:20)-all ten of them. Where, then, do men get the “authority” to change the Fourth Commandment by substituting Sunday for the original Sabbath Christ and the apostles kept? The Bible prophesied many centuries earlier that the time would come when men would think to change times and laws (Daniel 7:25). Many Bible prophecies are “dual” in nature-that is, they have a type and antitype, an earlier and a later fulfillment. Though speaking specifically of the soon-coming antichrist, we can see the forerunner type documented in history. The Watering Down of the Sabbath in the First 300 Years The Christians during the apostolic era, from about 35 to 100 A.D., kept Sabbath on the designated seventh day of the week. For the first 300 years of Christian history, when the Roman emperors regarded themselves as gods, Christianity became an “illegal religion,” and God’s people were scattered abroad (Acts 8:1). Judaism, however, was regarded at that time as “legal,” as long as they obeyed Roman laws. Thus, during the apostolic era, Christians found it convenient to let the Roman authorities think of them as Jews, which gained them legitimacy with the Roman government. However, when the Jews rebelled against Rome, the Romans put down their rebellion by destroying Jerusalem in A.D. 70 and again in A.D. 135. Obviously, the Roman government’s suppression of the Jews made it increasingly uncomfortable for Christians to be thought of as Jewish. At that time, Sunday was the rest day of the Roman Empire, whose religion was Mithraism, a form of sun worship. Since Sabbath observance is visible to others, some Christians in the early second century sought to distance themselves from Judaism by observing a different day, thus “blending in” to the society around them. During the Empire-wide Christian persecutions under Nero, Maximin, Diocletian, and Galerius, Sabbath-keeping Christians were hunted down, tortured, and, for sport, often used for entertainment in the Colisseum. Constantine Made Sunday a Civil Rest Day When Emperor Constantine I-a pagan sun-worshipper-came to power in A.D. 313, he legalized Christianity and made the first Sunday-keeping law. His infamous Sunday enforcement law of March 7, A.D. 321, reads as follows: “On the venerable Day of the Sun let the magistrates and people residing in cities rest, and let all workshops be closed.” (Codex Justinianus 3.12.3, trans. Philip Schaff, History of the Christian Church, 5th ed. (New York, 1902), 3:380, note 1.) The Sunday law was officially confirmed by the Roman Papacy. The Council of Laodicea in A.D. 364 decreed, “Christians shall not Judaize and be idle on Saturday but shall work on that day; but the Lord’s day they shall especially honour, and, as being Christians, shall, if possible, do no work on that day. If, however, they are found Judaizing, they shall be shut out from Christ” (Strand, op. cit., citing Charles J. Hefele, A History of the Councils of the Church, 2 [Edinburgh, 1876] 316). Cardinal Gibbons, in Faith of Our Fathers, 92nd ed., p. 89, freely admits, “You may read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, and you will not find a single line authorizing the sanctification of Sunday. The Scriptures enforce the religious observance of Saturday, a day which we [the Catholic Church] never sanctify.” Again, “The Catholic Church, … by virtue of her divine mission, changed the day from Saturday to Sunday” (The Catholic Mirror, official publication of James Cardinal Gibbons, Sept. 23, 1893). “Protestants do not realize that by observing Sunday, they accept the authority of the spokesperson of the Church, the Pope” (Our Sunday Visitor, February 5, 1950). "The observance of Sunday by the Protestants is an homage they pay, in spite of themselves, to the authority of the Catholic Church." (Louis Gaston de Segur, Plain Talk about Protestantism of To-day, 1899, A French Catholic prelate and official at Rome) “Of course the Catholic Church claims that the change [Saturday Sabbath to Sunday] was her act... And the act is a mark of her ecclesiastical authority in religious things” (H.F. Thomas, Chancellor of Cardinal Gibbons). The Catholic Church claims “Sunday is our mark of authority...the church is above the Bible, and this transference of Sabbath observance is proof of that fact” (Catholic Record of London, Ontario Sept 1, 1923). What a shocking admission! A Prophecy Come to Pass! At this point we need to note an amazing prophecy. Daniel 7:25 foretold, “And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws.” Quoting Daniel 7:25, Adam Clarke’s Commentary on the Bible says: Verse Daniel 7:25. He shall speak words against the Most High - Sermones quasi Deus loquetur; "He shall speak as if he were God." So St. Jerome quotes from Symmachus. To none can this apply so well or so fully as to the popes of Rome. They have assumed infallibility, which belongs only to God. They profess to forgive sins, which belongs only to God. They profess to open and shut heaven, which belongs only to God. They profess to be higher than all the kings of the earth, which belongs only to God. And they go beyond God in pretending to loose whole nations from their oath of allegiance to their kings, when such kings do not please them! And they go against God when they give indulgences for sin. This is the worst of all blasphemies! And shall wear out the saints - By wars, crusades, massacres, inquisitions, and persecutions of all kinds. What in this way have they not done against all those who have protested against their innovations, and refused to submit to their idolatrous worship? Witness the exterminating crusades published against the Waldenses and Albinenses. Witness John Huss, and Jerome of Prague. Witness the Smithfield fires in England! Witness God and man against this bloody, persecuting, ruthless, and impure Church! And think to charge tines and laws - Appointing fasts and feasts; canonizing persons whom he chooses to call saints; granting pardons and indulgences for sins; instituting new modes of worship utterly unknown to the Christian Church; new articles of faith; new rules of practice; and reversing, with pleasure, the laws both of God and man.-Dodd. (Emphasis his; Clarke’s Commentary on the Bible, Volume IV, p. 594). He shall "think to change times and laws” - and this are not men's laws, for men change their laws all the times. Who Changed the Sabbath to Sunday? “Prove to me from the Bible alone that I am bound to keep Sunday holy. There is no such law in the Bible. It is a law of the Catholic Church alone. The Catholic Church says, by my divine power I abolish the Sabbath day and command you to keep holy the first day of the week. And lo! The entire civilized world bows down in reverent obedience to the command of the Holy Catholic Church” (Thomas Enright, CSSR, President, Redemptorist College [Roman Catholic], Kansas City, MO, Feb. 18, 1884). “The Pope has power to change times, to abrogate laws, and to dispense with all things, even the precepts of Christ. The Pope has authority and has often exercised it, to dispense with the command of Christ” (Decretal, de Tranlatic Episcop). It is a matter of Biblical and secular history that God never changed His holy Sabbath or transferred its solemnity to Sunday. Who did? Rome, in concert with the Roman Catholic Church, changed Sabbath to Sunday! The Bible says, “But in vain (useless) they do worship Me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men” (Matthew 15:9; Mark 7:7). Further, “To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word [the Bible], it is because there is no light in them” (Isaiah 8:20). What will you believe? Whom will you follow? The God of your Bible-or the traditions of men? The choice, dear reader, is yours. Martyn, I appreciate the tact that you have in dealing with this issue. I am delighted that someone who represents a creationist ministry has finally noticed, and spoken about, the Sabbath as a creation institution. It is foundational like two genders, marriage, among other things. Keep studying this. I believe the time is right around the corner when the Sabbath will be recognized as a "God's word vs. man's word" issue. The Sabbath was designed, in part, as a memorial of creation. God said "remember". Romans chapter one says men preferred to forget, and the current state of society reflects that choice. God bless!

Perhaps the boldest thing, the most revolutionary change the Church ever did, happened in the first century. The holy day, the Sabbath, was changed from Saturday to Sunday. "The Day of the Lord" (dies Dominica) was chosen, not from any directions noted in the Scriptures, but from the Church's sense of its own power. The day of resurrection, the day of Pentecost, fifty days later, came on the first day of the week. So this would be the new Sabbath. People who think that the Scriptures should be the sole authority, should logically become 7th Day Adventists, and keep Saturday holy. -Sentinel, Pastor's page, Saint Catherine Catholic Church, Algonac, Michigan, May 21, 1995

Mark 2:27+28 And He said unto them. The Sabbath was MADE (at creation) for man, and not man for the Sabbath. Therefore the Son of man is Lord of the Sabbath. Therefore it is not God who needs to rest but man and the rest means to find rest in Him. It is a holy day set apart to worship God alone and set all work and daily chores aside, undivided attention in worship. I can only thank God for the Sabbath, glory to Him He alone is worthy to be praised❤

The fourth commandment God tells us to “remember the seventh day” God Blessed the seventh day and sanctified it (he set it apart). We are told in Exodus 24 how the ten commandments came to be, verse 12 and the Lord said unto Moses, come up to me into the mount, and be there; and I will give you tablets of stone, and a law and commandments which I have written; that thou May teach them. Verse 15 And Moses went up into the mount, and a cloud covered the mount. 16 And the glory of the LORD abode upon mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days: and the seventh day he called unto Moses out of the midst of the cloud. 17 And the sight of the glory of the LORD was like devouring fire on the top of the mount in the eyes of the children of Israel. 18 And Moses went into the midst of the cloud, and was there on the mount forty days and forty nights. The Lord spoke to Moses giving him instructions. These were instructions I believe that were the hand written laws that were placed in the side of the ark. Read Deuteronomy 31: 26. The Lord instructed Moses to carve the two tables of stone and it was the Lord who wrote the Ten Commandments WITH HIS OWN FINGER (Exodus 31:18 )on those two tablets. When Moses went down from the mountain and saw that the people had made a golden calf and were worshiping it Moses was so angry that he threw the tables of stone, smashing them. Exodus 34 the Lord told Moses to make two tablets like the first and the Lord said He would write upon the tablets the words that were in the first. So not ONCE BUT TWICE DID THE LORD WRITE WITH HIS OWN FINGER THE TEN COMMANDMENTS. The tablets of stone with the ten commandments were placed inside the ark. The only commandment that says for us the REMEMBER man has tried to forget. Something that is written or carved in stone, is something permanent or fixed and cannot be changed. It is permanent, never ending. Something written in stone, it’s based on the Ten Commandments Moses bought down from Mount Sinai, which were literally written in carved, etched onto the tablets of stone. Thus else is as absolute and unchangeable as the Ten Commandments. The Lord gave us the sabbath as a gift.

Yes and why would God write the commandments on stone if it is not to stand forever never to be changed. And by the way He did it a second time He could have written them in sand the second time think about that. He could have written them in sand if they were to be changed. No my friends the 4th commandment is even going to be kept in heaven so how confusing will it be if everyone keeps a different day in heaven. Nope Jesus set the example for us in everything He did on earth so should we be and through the love and grace and mercy of God become more like Jesus and be obedient to His Word. He absolutely knows what is best for us. We only rob ourselves of love and blessings through disobedience but note it has to come from your heart in complete surrender to our Lord Jesus Christ our Creator, King and Saviour

Rev 14:11 “And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever; they have no REST day and night, THOSE WHO WORSHIP THE BEAST AND HIS IMAGE, and whoever receives the mark of his name.” Rev 14:12 Here is the perseverance of THE SAINTS WHO KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS OF GOD and THEIR FAITH IN JESUS. Heb 4:1 Therefore, let us fear, lest, while a promise remains of entering His rest, any one of you may seem to have fallen short of it. Heb 4:2 For indeed we have had good news proclaimed to us, just as they also; but the word that was heard did not profit those who were not united with faith among those who heard. Heb 4:3 For we who have believed enter that rest, just as He has said, “AS I SWORE IN MY WRATH, THEY SHALL NOT ENTER MY REST,” although His works were finished from the foundation of the world. Heb 4:4 For He has spoken somewhere in this way concerning the seventh day: “AND GOD RESTED ON THE SEVENTH DAY FROM ALL HIS WORKS”; Heb 4:5 and again in this passage, “THEY SHALL NOT ENTER MY REST.” Heb 4:6 Therefore, since it remains for some to enter it, and those who formerly had good news proclaimed to them failed to enter because of disobedience, Heb 4:7 He again determines a certain day, “TODAY,” saying through David after so long a time just as has been said before, “TODAY IF YOU HEAR HIS VOICE, DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS.” Notice Paul is writing to the Hebrews, they kept the 7th day Sabbath of the 10 commandments. He did not say stop keeping that day or that day does not matter. He says that not accepting Christ as their saviour means resting on Sabbath is pointless without accepting the God of that Sabbath who gives the rest on that day and commanded it in the first place. But the Sabbath day still remains, accept it today! Harden not your hearts!

How many Commandments have you failed to keep this week ? To burden others to be under the curse of the Good , Perfect and Holy Law, that No man, but Christ Alone has kept. These Commandments are written now on our hearts. They were written then, to Israel. Jeshua the Christ is Lord of the Sabbath, and Has Given us a New and better Covenant. The Lord's Day is not the Sabbath, it is the Day the Early Church gathered for worship, fellowship, prayers, singing, and the ordinance of the Lord's Supper. I do the same on Sunday, but do not call out any brother or sister in Christ to do so on a certain day if l know they work on Sunday or Saturday to feed their families. They come to evening or mid week service. I rest daily in the Lord of the Sabbath, for the world brings burdens and laden with troubles, but He tells me to come, and l Will Give You Rest for your souls.

Hi Martyn! I have been listing to your YT channel for a while now. I truly love the way you speak and express the word of God. I really enjoy watching your uploads. I must say that I am not in complete agreements with you on this upload. There’s tremendous importance in the Sabbath and it’s meant to be kept holy for ever and ever. Matthew 5: v17-19 17 - Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18 - For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 19 - Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven, but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. Be careful with the switch up Martyn. The Sabbath was created for men and is a symbol, a token of our allegiance with God that will not be abolished ever. The man made sabbath was not meant to be kept holy like the one written into Gods law in the Ten Commandments. Anyone who falsifies that as the true Sabbath is going against what came out of Jesus’s mouth in Matthew 5: 17-19. Please hold that dearly, and treat it with great importance. Verse 19: ….and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven.

It is clear in Genesis 2 that God sanctified (made holy) the 7th day at creation. This was for humankind that we might have a weekly reminder to contemplate God's power and goodness. Genesis 26 mentions that God gave Abraham an oath "because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws." Also Joseph kept God's commandments when fleeing from Potiphar's wife. He said, "How can I do this great wickedness and sin against God?". The children of Israel were keeping the Sabbath before the 10 commandments were given to them at Mt Sinai (Exodus 16). The reason why God had to give a special revelation of His commandments to the Israelites at My Sinai was because they had been in bondage in Egypt and had become degraded by the Egyptians. The 10 Commandments and the ceremonial laws were two distinct and separate laws. One was written on tables of stone by God and placed inside the ark of the covenant in the Most Holy Place. The other was written on parchments by Moses and placed beside the ark. The 10 commandments express the everlasting principles of righteousness, the character of God. The other set of laws were given to point forward to the coming and death of Jesus Christ on the cross - laws that would be done away with because they were no longer necessary when the Lamb of God actually came and died. The entire Bible only mentions the 1st day of the week nine times. Gen 1:5 refers to the first day as the beginning of the creation week. All the other eight references occur in the New Testament. Six of those-found in Matt. 28:1; Mark 16:2, 9; Luke 24:1; John 20:1, 19 - have to do with the resurrection of Jesus and simply state that He rose on that day. Acts 20:7 mentions a farewell meeting Paul conducted on the first day of the week. And Paul refers to collecting an offering for the poor that day (1 Cor. 16:2). None of these verses suggest that God has changed His day of worship from the seventh day to the first day.

One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind. Whoever regards one day as special does so to the Lord. Whoever eats meat does so to the Lord, for they give thanks to God; and whoever abstains does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God. For none of us lives for ourselves alone, and none of us dies for ourselves alone. If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living. You, then, why do you judge your brother or sister? Or why do you treat them with contempt? For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat. It is written: “‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.’" So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God. Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister. I am convinced, being fully persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean in itself. But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for that person it is unclean. If your brother or sister is distressed because of what you eat, you are no longer acting in love. Do not by your eating destroy someone for whom Christ died. Therefore do not let what you know is good be spoken of as evil. For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and receives human approval. Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification. Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All food is clean, but it is wrong for a person to eat anything that causes someone else to stumble. It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause your brother or sister to fall. So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the one who does not condemn himself by what he approves. But whoever has doubts is condemned if they eat, because their eating is not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin. (Romans 14)

If you can pick any day out of six, why not choose the day God sanctified at creation? Why not choose the day on which Jesus proclaimed to be Lord of the Sabbath? In Matthew 12, Jesus used the example of the priests still working in the temple but remain guiltless. He didn't use that example to explain away the holiness of the Sabbath at all. If AiG is trying to explain the Sabbath, why are you all open everyday of the week?

No Matthew 5v17-20 The Sabbath is the seventh day of the week not the first day of the week We cannot pick and choose which commands to follow and we are told not to alter the Word of God. We are called to worship the Lord in Spirit and in truth. And obedience is not legalism.

Imagine a world that rests, reads scripture, studies Gods word, prays & searches Gods will on the Sabbath (7th day, Saturday) and meets together to celebrate the risen Christ on Sunday and intentionally doing good works. We can’t justify 2 days out of 7 to dedicate to Our Creator? Instead we spend the MAJORITY of our days in this evil world and still expect Him to hear or cry. I’m convinced Jesus came to SHOW us how to live and He observed the Sabbath perfectly AND lived the other 6 days doing the will of His Father who sent Him. If your job requires you to jet set around the world on HIS appointed Day…that’s on you. Don’t teach others to do as you do but rather what the Bible says to do.

The Adventist church is suffering the same shaking as the Methodist church...there is just much apostacy in the sda church as there is in many other churches, but the one great truth they do have right is the Sabbath of the fourth commandment. They really are the last true protestant church in a long line of faithful believers, which began with the Waldenses and Martin Luther and will end very, very soon. The Sabbath "issue" is coming for us again Martyn...take your stand on the right side, before it's forever too late.

I have been enjoying your sermons for a few weeks now. Today in this talk you have disappointed me a great deal. You just spiritualized the word of God away. The Sabbath was made for man not man for the Sabbath. That scripture you quoted from the New Testament is Sabbath Day(s). Those Sabbath days were the ceremonial Sabbaths that fell on special days and had nothing to do with the Sabbath of the fourth commandment and had nothing to do with a certain day of the week. You find keeping the day that the Pope made which he says is now the Sabbath just fine because he is god and can change God's law. You are welcome to his sabbath I like the God of the Universe who is in Heaven and really in charge. He says He NEVER CHANGES AND THERE IS NO SHADOW OF TURNING IN HIM. So I will trust His Bible and His word and follow Him.

The 'first day of the week' on which the first believers met WAS NOT a substitute for the Jewish Sabbath. The Jewish Shabbat was done away with the rest of the Law fufilled in Christ's work, so that we might rest in him. However, the debate has been made a little more complex by the Roman so-called church. On March 7, 321, Roman Emperor Constantine I issued a civil decree making Sunday a day of rest from labor, stating: All judges and city people and the craftsmen shall rest upon the venerable day of the sun. All of Christendom followed on from this. When I was young, Sunday trading was still banned in most businesses. To restate; the Roman prostitute was in error to think the first day of the week, Sunday, was in any way a replacement Sabbath. They arenot related. The Sabbath for the Jews was A DAY OF REST. The first day of the week for the first believers WAS A DAY OF CORPORATE WORSHIP. Apples verses oranges, as the old saying goes. Cheers

Under the old covenant law, the saints expressed their faith through obedience to the written law. In the new covenant, the saints express their faith through obedience to the Holy Spirit. No one walking in accordance with the Holy Spirit can murder or commit adultery. For walking in accordance fulfills every requirement for the attainance of the righteousness of God. Sabbath is Saturday. Jesus said Remember. At the end of time soon, everything will be about worship. Sabbath/ Sunday.... Something interesting point God never forces you to worship on the Sabbath. His day. But the catholic church changed Saturday to Sunday. They admit it. The pope said he is God , taking the place of God. All people will one day need to choose. Keeping the Sabbath day is a Command. Not request. Yes at this time there are millions of Gods people keeping sunday. But just before probation closes people who keep Sabbath will be hated unto death and in that time, if you still keep the Sunday , all those will be lost. I might also add the bible says God is not changing. We started in Genesis with Saturday sabbath. The catholic church changed Saturday to Sunday of their own accord. Most protestant denominations are following Catholic tradition and world politics and not bible teachings. The world is full of Spiritualistic teachings and false doctrins. The bible says we will come together in heaven and on the new earth each Sabbath (saturday) and each new moon. If God started with the true sabbath in Genesis and ends with sabbath in heaven why would God ditch the true sabbath just because. Study the state of the dead also. We return to dust . We do not go as spirits anywhere. When jesus comes again he will resurect his people. Little light studios is good at showing how completely demonic everything is.

Brother Martyn. Remaining neutral and non-denominational does not help the argument. The 4th commandment is a clear commandment of God that if broken is called a sin (like the other 9). No commandment in the decalogue can be modified, changed, watered down... for God wrote it with His own finger. It remains unalterable. Any change made/or attempt (like the little horn power of Daniel 7) goes against God's will for humanity. He does not give 10% discount on His Holy Immutable Law. The maths is simple: If no Law > then no Sin > If no Sin > Then no need of a Saviour > If no Saviour > No Gospel. The implications of altering the definition of sin leads to exactly just that... No Gospel. Something to think about. Blessings...

Could a Jew not have his son circumcised simply because the command wasn’t “ written “? Or bring sacrifices to the temple?? Let us not put old wine in new skins. The book of Hebrews tells us the the New Covenant has made the old obsolete. Jesus is now our sabbath rest. Resting from jumping through all the hoops of religion try to please God. Unfortunately the vast majority of the Christian work had forgotten this important subject. God told us to remember, remember ing His creation, remembering His love for an intimate relationship with His creation. Did God need rust on Sabbath, the seventh day? Or does this recast mean something else? I want to refer to to the work of Dr Tim Jennings from Come and Reason Ministries to help you identify a deeper meaning to the sabbath day. No later than when my wife was in her early teens, she asked one or both of her parents why worship services were held on Sundays. It seemed to her that anyone who subscribed to the doctrine of the primacy of scripture would worship God every day of the week and, if they wished to engage in corporate worship, it would make sense to do so on the day the Lord rested - the day he blessed and sanctified. She didn’t think the answer her parents gave her was satisfactory but she didn’t know any people who met on the seventh day of the week for corporate worship, By the time she graduated from high school in the late ‘60s, it seemed to her that, “Churches are places people go to tell other people what to do - or to pay the preacher to tell other people what to do.” She got a job and moved out of her parents home and into a small apartment with a friend her age who was also employed - largely because she didn’t like “church” people telling her what she should and shouldn’t do as if she couldn’t read the Bible for herself, study it for herself and think for herself. (She also didn’t like wearing the kind of attire that was de rigueur for her mother and the other women who attended the services her mother did.) One of her brothers, however, got a degree from a seminary and entered the ministry. After she and her roommate moved to the same town where her brother was pastor of a protestant congregation, she discovered that he didn’t tell members of his congregation what to do at all so she started attending services again about every other week. AND she asked her brother the same question she had asked her parents ten or twenty years before. She didn’t think her brother’s answer was satisfactory either. Although I lived in another town, someone I met in a laundromat in my town told me about the worship services where she had never heard anyone tell people what to do - not even to turn to a Bible passage or hymn in the hymnal, when to stand, etc. At that lady’s invitation, I attended services there, offered to tune the piano at no cost to the congregation and started getting acquainted with the pastor. Probably because neither he nor I were trying to convince or convert anyone, we found we could talk about a variety of theological questions without arguing. (It was a couple of months before I even knew he had a sister.) Soon after my wife and I were introduced, she learned some things about my personal belief system - which differed in some respects from that of her brother - and I gave her an answer to her long-standing question. I’ll try to answer that question here the way I explained it to my wife about a year before we celebrated our wedding - with her brother and the clergyman of record. Because true believers worship the Lord every day of the week, I think it’s silly to argue about what day of the week to worship him. I’ve never found any bible passages about worshiping the Lord on any specific day of the week. At the same time, there are passages about resting on the day the Lord rested. There are reasons to think of the seventh day of the week as the day the Lord rested. 1: He gave the descendants of Israel manna on six days of the week and instructed them to rest on the seventh day. Hebrews have been very strict about keeping track of the days of the week ever since then. 2: After he was crucified on the sixth day of the week, the creator rested again on the seventh day of the week - this time in a borrowed tomb. 3: Sometime thereafter - maybe as soon as the first century - it became a tradition to honor “the venerable day of the Sun”* as the day Jesus rose from the tomb. For people who work six days a week and rest one day a week, it makes sense to meet for corporate worship on the day they aren’t working, (This was especially true when men would work from Sun to Sun but women’s work was never done.) Maybe it is because my wife wasn’t - and isn’t - as dedicated to traditions as her parents were but, nearly fifty years later, she still thinks of the seventh day of the week as the biblical day of rest. This morning, Sunday June 16, she and I sang a duet as an offertory during the methodist service in our town. *In A.D. 321, Constantine I decreed, “On the venerable Day of the Sun let the magistrates and people residing in cities rest, and let all workshops be closed.”

Heb 4:10 TS2009 For the one, having entered into His rest, has himself also rested from his works, as Elohim rested from His own. Note once in the rest of Jesus, you also rest from your own work.

Sabbath is part of the everlasting gospel? Because Revelation 14:6,7 tells to preach saying with a loud voice. Fear God and give glory to him, worship him who made heaven and earth. Note in the 4th Commandment of the Law of God about the 7th day Sabbath "who made heaven and earth" Satan goes after those who keep the Commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ (Revelation 12:17) So you see the Law of God never was abolished at the cross. If thats the case Satan would not be at war with those who love God and keep His commandments

God made the Seventh Day HOLY. if you rest on any other day, just to have a Day of Rest in the week, what you are stating is that, "your way is better than God's way"! The only ones who were allowed to "break" the Sabbath day were the Priests. Now, the only time one can break the Sabbath Day, is to save a life, or when someone's health is at risk.

Is Sabbath name of the day in Babylonian and Romans calendar ? Reading Exodus 12:1-2 God gave Israelites calendar to use ... Exodus 16:1-30 God taught and make Israelites Practice Sabbath observation When and who ordained the Saturday which is in the Babylonian and Romans calendar for Sabbath observation ? Does gentile sabbath keeper get circumcised too ?

It is evident that the law will not pass away until all (of it) be fulfilled... we see Christ fulfilled it so to Christ and all who abide in him IT IS OVER AND DONE... BUT to those not born again...the law still applies until you turn to Christ...

Just as many Christians and Pastors today, because of their pride even they realised they have been keeping the “sabbath” on the wrong (Sunday) day instead of evening of Friday to evening of Saturday but they refused to change it back but taking scripture out of context to justify what have been done wrong! Just as The Roman Catholic that confused the G-d’s appointed times n seasons n the anti Christ that twisted the Laws Of YHWH since the beginning of times !

The Jews rejected Jesus and thereby rejected the old covenant. We are now under the covenant of Grace.

Can a man be saved by merely observing the sabbath? How can Abraham be saved if he never knew of this?

Gen. 26:5 shows God telling Issac that his father Abraham kept His commandments and His laws. That includes the Sabbath. Whether Abraham knew about the Sabbath before God told him to leave Ur or not, we have God's own testimony that Abraham definitely observed it. And since he observed it, it's very safe to assume that Isaac observed it and taught Jacob to do the same since Christ said that all 3 of them will be in God's Kingdom.
