Today I'm joined by @joparilla as we head into the big bad city of Bangkok, in Asok to be precise, to see if we can find cheap, authentic Thai food in Bangkok's Sukhumvit.
The best place to find cheap food is by a University, so we've headed down to Srinakharinwirot University (มหาวิทยาลัยศรีนครินทรวิโรฒ ประสานมิตร) to try the best Thai fried chicken shop in Bangkok (in our humble opinions). We also tried some shrimp paste rice and a mataba at the SWU Market.

Another great video thats left us all drooling! Next time youll have to zip across the road to the Ruam Sab Market for one of the best local workers Street Food experiences!!!
The around-the-university area in Bangkok always has a secret place to grab some delicious foods at significantly lower prices than the other populated areas. So, I would love to see you try visiting the nearby area of Chulalongkorn University especially Banthat Thong Road (ถนนบรรทัดทอง) which contains tons and tons of quality food, You can even eat in the university canteen as well if you would like.
That fried chicken looks ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuude, 1 week and counting ❤

Hey Gary, so I’m in Bangkok at least once a year and I’m also gluten free for health reasons. You mentioned you believed the fried chicken was made with rice flour, can you confirm that it was in fact battered with rice flour and not wheat flour? Thanks- Drew

Lol asok is dope. I’m Lao and Thai. Last year was first time visiting bkk and terminal 21 is awesome. I don’t get it. Too modern? Then tell them go to villages because it’s BANGKOK it’s a damn city center

I'm fairly certain that's the university I went to that had a market, can't remember whether it's on a specific day, or every day. It's not far from that coffee shop and food stall I sent you a picture of, just on the canal

Contrary to knowledgeable belief. Thailand's chickens are treated appallingly and therefore are not the tastiest chicken out there. Admittedly I didn't know about this until Dec 2022 after 17+ years of visiting Thailand. I was informed of thus by a UK lady, whose lived there for 15 years or more and refuses to eat chicken there due to her findings.
