Today I'm just arpound the corner from the famous Khaosan Road in Bangkok to visit Khun Lek Porridge. Khun Lek, the owner, sells everything for 10 - 20 baht and has rice for 3 baht making it the cheapest sit down restaurant that I've been to in Bangkok!

This video is very touching my heart, Gary, 😊 ❤ This lady has a good heart and soul. She wants to provide meals at a reasonably low cost for people who may not be wealthy enough for higher prices, and she is making sure they eat without spending lots of money. ❤

I love how Paddy is so humble and says his Thais "60%"... I meet farang that insist they are fluent but don't speak even CLOSE to the level that Paddy is at. So, it's nice that Paddy doesn't take the word fluent as something that it isn't, because too many people just throw that word out.

Good one, Gary. For me, one of your best. I could eat like that every day, not much different from what I make, except possibly for the spices and condiments I add to our dishes. Plus, what P Lek does is special. As she said, and I'm guessing she's Buddhist, is that she gains merit. Your bud has a great command of the Thai language, I wish I could match it. Guess I need to check out his site. BTW, whatever happened to your purported visit to Isaan? Haven't seen anything in a while. Did you go? Are you going to be posting anything from that trip? Had to ask.

Hey Gary 👋 Just saw you on Mark Wien's video. Great interview with the lady and i like how she has a good heart, when it comes to her business, whilst offering a fair deal on the food. The good thing about rice is that it is gluten free so doesn't bloat you like pasta and noodles. How much is 10 baht in pounds? I really want to visit there with our child and know that it can get quite hot there. When is the best time to visit there when it isn't too hot (+30c) or peeing it down please? Is Feb a good month? Do you need a visa or vaccinations from the UK to Bangkok? I just subbed to both you and Paddy. 29c/16c today and tonight here in London. Just looked up the temps for Bangkok and was shocked at the night time temps! Is that just from the humidity? I remember it being humid at night when i stopped off in Singapore en route to Sydney. Iam surprised that the clams didn't come pre cooked in the ocean!
Great video. Paddy is such a likeable guy. I'm of the same mindset of living between my home country and Thailand when I eventually retire, if I can afford it that is. Escape the cooler months of Canada for the heat of Thailand is just a perfect scenario. I enjoy the the warmer months here too much to give that up.

Yes small dishes but i have had much bigger portions of pad thai and pad kra pao at food courts and street vendors for a full plate 30 baht ! so these plates you have really start to add up i think for me i would stick tp good street vendors and food courts selling thai dishes for 20 to 30 baht.. just saying...
