Dropping a character and then instantly winning an offline major is crazy

It's heartbreaking, but at the end of the day, you're a competitor, and it behooves you to pick a character you see yourself seeing more consistent success with. As you say, it's so, so easy to yolo Marisas out due to the fact that she's weak to lows, aerials, and perfect parries. Also, you mentioned it on Twitter, but Marisa is pretty out of your comfort zone as you played Rashid and Ken in 5. That's cool how you believed in her so hard day 1. I wish you success in your future tournament runs.

Your Marisa is what got me interested in the character, this is so sad. At the same time I understand you wanna do your best. I'll continue to support you and Angrybird all the same (I don't play Rashid but he's still very fun to watch), and I'll pop off huge if you ever bust out the Marisa again hahaha. Best of luck!

Check out 801Strider. He's quite good with Marisa and a pretty solid streamer in general. Does a lot of the US online tourneys and has the chops to take on the big names like Punk, Du, Nephew, etc etc. I'm really sad to see to BB go for someone else, but I'm sure we'll still follow and learn.

you can keep playing her man. his reasons for dropping her have nothing to do with the character in the regular MR ladder. if you're consistent with her, you'll climb despite the yolo agressive players. however,in a tournament setting, a yolo player CAN be dangerous enough to take you out, because it only takes 2 lost sets to be disqualified.

When the game came out I was really interested in Marisa. She was fun in the beginning but after playing her for a while the weaknesses became more apparent. Her anti air is crap and if she didn’t have her damage output she would be useless

I’m gonna keep watching your Marisa replays for tips anyway. Wishing you all the success on whatever character you choose, but damn, what a sad day for Marisa mains! The Discord is lowkey mourning. You inspired a lot of people to pick up the game and the character and I’m sure many of those people myself included will continue to follow you even on Rashid. I hope to see your Marisa in competition again once a match is FT3 level or FT5 exhibition like Kumite.

Shes so fun and was my end of S1 main, but Ive been having a blast Playing Akuma. Having good AAs, a reversal, fireballs and cancellable crMK is like playing a different game

I love how the first battle started with C. Viper's theme. Made me remember some of the juicy elements SF once had: beautiful soundtracks.

Was already a fan but when you decided on Marisa I was excited because I really got to learn from you. Still a big fan regardless. You helped lay the foundation more than anyone. Hopefully someone decides they can make Marisa work or the few using her like strider stick with her.

Rashid versatility is off the charts he’s a great character… everyone doubted him earlier because he seemed extra tricky with less advantage but I think he’s stronger then ever

I am main Marisa and agree 100% with all you said, Also I dont drop the character because I dont play tournaments but I just stop play with her like before, I started play Zangief and Akuma and see how they are much more consistent

Same for me, I'm maining Marisa all the way from day 1, now I get stucked at MR1600-1700，you can feel the limitations of her when you playing some matchups, now I'm trying out zangief and Jamie, the good thing of playing other characters after maining Marisa is you found yourself better in neutral😂

Def looked for you for tech involving marisa, but you're defined by your play, not one character. Rashid is a great pick up. You'll have marisa if you feel shes necessary to pull out or if she gets a good buff in the future.

I love muscle mommy as much as everyone else but gotta say man, can't blame you. She's an awesome character but its so hard to make her work. Hell, I'll take a damage nerf it it meant she got better options, but it doesn't look like it'll be happening any time soon.

Lesser players aren't going to be playing a slow patient neutral game that gives her the possibility of getting her momentum started. They tend to look for low forward drive rush 90% of the time with characters with way better walk speed that kills her and relentless pressure with no real reversal outside of supers is a bad time for her as well. Just doesn't deal well with random gimmicky play in general

Yep I feel the same way about JP. No reversal, shitty walk speed and crouch fierce nerf so his anti air is unreliable. Gets completely bodied by randomness, and straight up out classed by characters with a drive rush cancellable low forward. Had to drop him last night

I guess this is the same reason why Problem X dropped Marisa early on. Shame you dropped her too. I was hoping youd show everyone how good she is with her new buffs in tournaments. Because she’s easy to PP, I would suggest capcom give her a move that would involve her faking a right hook (like a quick short whiff) and then quickly throwing out a left hook. That way opponents might missed judge the parry. She could mix up the move with her normal punches (that arent fake). This way she puts opponents in a dilemma on when to PP.

True, I play Juri and every time I manage to land a hit on Marisa the dRush into cr lk or forward mk does like half the work. Juri also has an answer to charged gladius and superman punch, if it wasn't for the damage and her fairly good normals, Marisa would be completely washed in that MU. If you have a Dp, invul lvl1 and good defense, Marisa has to play so honest.

I think anyone who has been playing Marisa since day 1 can see why a top level competitor would drop her. Outside Bigbird himself early on, who is placing with her? Most of the time she’s not even CLOSE to top 8. She has a really strange matchup spread and loses to some very common and strong characters and most crucially, she is just too difficult to be consistent with.

Maybe one day the CapGods will bless us with buffs

this game feels like an out of 5 game, the damage was toned down before, but it only really feels like you understand the other player once the 3 set starts. There's not enough to work off of with the little interactions we have.

@@mattsheehan3604 yea Rashid is good but big bird is not performing well last season with Rashid in tournament. It iss kinda saying big bird is not really compatible with Rashid. Maybe trying out other characters before making last decision on main. I haven't seen big bird trying Aki yet which is very strong right now more than Rashid.

@@wulongchai Aki is different type of character. it wouldn't fit. Racid is also wrong play. The best character for him would be Zangeif. Zangeif got buffed so damn so hard that he has high damage with command grabs and due to numerous buffs, he even has high-damage combos that are just as good as Marisa. I would highly recommend him learning Zangeif. It is not that much different Marisa but the offence miles better.

I'm comforted by the fact that he's also the No. 1 Rashid player in the world. Marisa is too easy to range out because of her limited mobility.

I literally had this exact thought this morning…kinda hard playing against unga bunga didn’t pay $60 to block players.

I play Honda and I am messing around with Rashid. He seems like he has all the tools to win. No weaknesses.

While watching this, I found myself wishing that Marisa charge 2HP had projectile invul so she could answer these whackass air fireballs. That looks so irritating to deal with without a DP. I'm sure that's not the best solution, just wanted to say that it looks very unfun to deal with

There's no question Rashid is the better character, to me he is top 3. Your red bull kumite run will always be remembered man. Marisa is more hype and fun to watch than Rashid I think, but I definitely understand your choice.

The worst thing about Marisa is that the char win in the opponent's mistakes while other chars can just make their way into the opponents defense, with strings and throw loops, her stance is almost useless and almost every char has some decent range low to counter her

I respect your changes, and I hope that you eliminate all the Kens from the tournaments, especially a certain Ken from Japan.

Without a invincible reversal your doing yourself a disservice in this offense heavy game. That handicap can only annoy you so much.

Marisa’s game plan doesn’t allow for much player expression. Like in every winning match there’s one round that’s two touch. Leaving only one round for creativity.

Honestly everyone knew this was coming. Everyone knew that Marisa's strength would fall off as the game ages and people figure her out. Her toolkit is fairly single minded and straight forward and doesn't really allow much outside of how you and we play her. She's extremely volatile and can be extremely punishing for 1 incorrect play. But obviously, this also goes both ways, that volatility works in her favour cos she can end you in 2 interactions. Honestly I don't know if capcom can reduce her volatility without reducing her biggest strength which is her damage. The character is inherently difficult to balance because of her shockingly high average damage output.

eh i think it is just her normal have a tiny bit more reach. She lacks reach on a lot of her normal which forces her to be too close to opponent which allows opponent to do low/high mix-ups. If she had better reach, It would be harder for a lot of characters to get closer to her. She also has that parry? i think. the move you do before her command grab. that is also something that should be considered to be buffed. It would help vs opponent that just yolo-rush her. Having a better reversal would do a lot for her.

Some times it's better to have two character than one 😢

What a game. The mindless yolo strategy works better VS Marisa then actually playing smart. Its almost as if the game sucks and rewards players for not using their brain and just auto piloting Oh wait, it does.
