Believe it or not it's a more reliable design to have that give instead of being threaded in too precisely, typically around 60k those go bad but on toyotas they get 110k without issue

​@tylerhansen99870 there's a difference between luxury and reliability. The more luxury you have the more chances for things to break or go wrong. I can't throw my silk sheets in the wash the same way I do my cotton sheets. Silk is more luxurious, cotton is more hardy and durable.

I dont think it's better but it is more reliable surely. A range rover is far better built in the interior and uses the appropriate kinds of materials for the price it commands. It is quite unfortunate that they are unreliable.

Even if you have your nose up Consumer Reports rather than ground your opinions in real world experience, you’d realize that BMW has surpassed nearly all Japanese automakers in reliability. It has been a steady rise over the last 2 decades. Don’t take my word for it or anything, as the owner of an 06 and an 07 BMW, both of which are rock solid reliable and both put every Japanese car my family has had to shame. Please continue to whine about plastic water pumps as if every manufacturer isn’t using them. No one wants a metal impeller that will destroy your engine block when it fails. My 116,000 mile and 176,000 mile BMW water pumps that are still going strong say hello.👋

They have had that chime since the late nineties to early 2000’s. My 2000 ES has it. It actually surprised me when it did it. People would look for a more modern Toyota, just to see my old Lexus 😂

Quite a few differences between the GX and Prado. The engines aren't even the same. That being said, the GX550 has a lot to prove to live up to the legacy of the GX460.

That is just not true at all. The Lexus LS for example has a way better built and luxurious interior compared to the cheap tacky S class. The GX is purposely designed to be more rugged and simple as it is appealing to a different buyer. The Mercedes G wagon has a very simple interior as well.

We had the Land Cruiser 200 and nobody bought them. The Lexus LX570 outsold the LC200 3 or 4 to 1. Now we get the Lexus Prado, Toyota Prado and the Lexus LC300. Once you add the 4Runner in there, you have too many vehicles too close to the same price point in the same segment.

I absolutely love the big muffled door thud of my VW Taigun. The closest thing to that is an E class or a 5 series

The bottle cooler is a cool touch. I remember the Dodge Caliber had a built in cooler too. If I was going luxury SUV, I’d probably go with the Alfa Romeo for styling but the toyota/lexus is a fine close second choice!
