You can definitely tell exactly how Tyler feels playing this instrument. The sheer weight of all that guitar stands for crashed down onto him and the only thing he could do was play. I didn't stop smiling the entire time he was playing, it's truly a wonderful thing watching a musician fill the room with thankfulness, honor, courage and absolute humbleness. The guitar is only expensive given the person and history. Otherwise it's just the same as any other guitar. You could go get a $75 guitar from some pawn shop and fix any issues if any at all. Then go about crafting YOUR voicing and phrasing and maybe get somewhere. By making a name in one way or another suddenly that $75 guitar is now worth some major bank. I mean, if you were never told that it's Clapton's guitar you'd think it's simply just another Strat and wouldn't really think twice about anything.

Now, that's funny. If not for your comment, I never would have remembered this little story, about a similar situation. I was in a jewelry store somewhere, maybe back in Ohio, at least 40 years ago. The store wasn't a typical jewelry store. There were items of all kinds displayed in cases, on tables, stands, and shelves, but where only the employees could actually touch them. There was one particular vase on a shelf, that had what appeared to be old world Chinese decorations painted on it. It was marked 'only' $20,000 or so, if I remember correctly. Nothing like your Strat there. The vase was on the wall, behind a counter that totally prevented me from getting anywhere near it. Still, when I saw the price, I carefully and deliberately backed away from the counter, all the way to the wall behind me. I couldn't get any farther away. I thought, if that thing somehow mysteriously falls off the shelf and breaks, I don't want to be anywhere near it when it does. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. You see, I remember the time, back in the 60s, when my step parent had a brand spanking new Polaroid camera. As I walked by, I guess maybe my coat brushed against it, because it fell to the floor. And, I never felt a thing. I don't remember if it broke, or not. But, the step guy looked over at me when he heard the sound, as I said, "It wasn't me! I swear I didn't do it!" He said, "Well, you're the only one anywhere near it. It must have been you". You know the saying about your whole life flashing through your mind, right before you die? That was me. I was maybe 12 or 13 years old. Ahhh--the good old days. 😂

@@shaqeelzainalabdeen231 It's pretty damned unbelievable, I'll admit, but back in the early-mid 90s my dad was the head of Fender's pro audio division and the Sunn amplifiers brand. As a result when he'd put in extra hours on the weekends he'd sometimes take me with him and give me a peek behind the scenes and show me some of the cooler stuff around the office. Blackie was there at the time because they were measuring the neck profile for the Clapton signature series strats.

I imagine any number of the most famous guitar players on the planet would have loved to have the opportunity to play this guitar. You're a lucky man!
I recieved a 1982 62‘s Vintage Reissue Strat by an old friend of mine who passed away three weeks ago. May he rest in peace. 🕊️ It sounds very similar to this one. They‘re about 3.000 to 9.000$ on Reverb. It’s like a miracle that happened. I had the vision 3 months ago, that someday I get a perfect Stratocaster for free, for no reason. It happened! 😇😇😇😆 I had to adjust the pickups with treble side on 1.6mm and bass side on 2mm. Sounds awesome, feels perfect! 😍
I would immediately forget every riff I've ever learned.
It failed to sell at auction. Some people were saying this video was part of the reason because it meant Clapton wasn't the last person to play it but that's a bit silly. Every guitar that goes to auction will have somebody have a go on it beforehand. Or slowhand in this case
@nicoleteakm

I was walking through London at night and I randomly came across Hard Rock Cafes 'Vault', there was no tourists and a couple had been invited in, they then asked if I wanted to go down into it.... I ended up playing either Bob Dylan's guitar or Gene Simmon's (I can't remember I was that tired)... Wondering the streets of London whilst trying to work out life and that happens, I still don't feel I appreciate it as much as I should... Had it been an authentic pair of the Europeans Cheeky Girls Hot pants that I was getting to put on it may have been a different story - 'Touch my bum'. Great video congrats on touching history, best wishes, Stefan, Jersey, Britain.
I still cannot believe that it sounded like a fender stratocaster
