I feel like Rebecca gets more flak then Jack and its a double standard. Men can make mistakes and people brush it off. Everyone's like "I know Jack was an alcoholic but he such a great husband and father" with Rebecca they're like "Rebecca is such a horrible mom, she lied to Randall about his dad....." It's like moms aren't allowed to make mistakes and when they do they're just horrible. This girl on the panel just proved my point. She praised Jack noting that he was an alcoholic but put down Rebecca for not being honest with Randall. It's not fair. I think Rebecca is an amazing mother. Yeah she made some mistakes but she's human.

I think the difference here is that Jack kept his drinking separate from the family, no one even knew he was doing it and it didn't affect or change their lives (at least until this point, as far as we know). With what Rebecca did, she ultimately changed the ENTIRE course of Randall's first 35 years of life. Who knows how his life would have gone had he known about his father. She took a very major part of his life into her hands and her decision on how to handle it determined/changed what his entire life was.

YES YES YES!!! exactly my thoughts. They are portraying Rebecca as the horrible selfish neglectful mother, while Jack gets ALL the appraise. Jack this and Jack that as if he can do no wrong and if he do something wrong, they forgive him easily.

I love this panel ! And I'm so glad afterbuzz is recapping this again. I love love Beth and Randall! And Jack is great but we haven't seen him as a alcoholic and this season we also are gonna see his min points .. And I'm curious how much the kids knew about the alcohol situation bc I think they saw some things .. And I also don't really like Kevin You guys are really good at analyzing this episode

Marisha Smid Agreed, mostly. I am hoping that, like the expected redemption arc for Miquel, we will also get to see Kevin (and probably Kate too) mature/become themselves/deal with the loss of their father. This show is just THE BEST.

Rena Hamilton yes I hope that too and I hope we see how big jacks addiction was especially for the kids bc kids see more than we like to admit and if they were 17 when he died they could have noticed stuff .. but yeah I'm just I wanna know everything and I wanna get the events in the good place .. Oh and maybe it is a bit of a dirty secret that Jack was an addict so maybe bc he is dead why speak bad about him .. so maybe Sophie knows a lot more bc she grew up with the fam .. and I think Beth could know bc they have that open communication .. I just want all the answers now hahaha .

I like the chemistry of this panel more. You guys are more lively.

I never had anything against Miguel; I never understood the hate. No he's not Jack, but Jack is dead, so... I think he and Rebecca getting married is very old school. Way back in the day, if a husband died, it was understood that the widow would marry his brother or friend so that she'd be taken care of. I don't see the problem.

Yeah I don't get the hate either. I understand the issue that the characters within the show have with him (you know, the stereotypical YOU'RE NOT MY REAL DAD!!) but from an audience perspective, he just hasn't been shown doing anything to warrant the hate people have for him. Also, something that I never see people talking about is what Miguel means to Tess and Annie. Yeah, the Big Three have Jack to compare him to, but as long as the girls have been alive, Jack has been dead, Beth's father has been dead, and William was only in their lives for a year. He's the only "Grandpa" they had for a long time and they obviously love him. That can't really be ignored, I don't think.

I fell for rhe obvious car accident theory last year. I am not buying that the fire was the reason.

Karen Pardo It has to be involved somehow. I mean why would she drive back home and break down like that?? When they reveal it, I have a feeling it's going to be something no one was expecting.

I feel like the fire is the reason and I think why Kate feels like it's her fault is the fact that she snuck off to be with her Dad...( She mentioned the fact that she wanted to be with her Dad when they explained the breakup to the kids) and I think Jack died while saving Kate. And I think thats why she harbors the guilt and maybe that;s when she started adding all the weight?? It's just a theory and that's where the storyline sorta took me anyway. Plus the fact that Kate and Rebecca have a sorta strained relationship. That could play into it as well.

It’s one of my favorite shows but I have to say, I am not a Tony fan. I find him annoying and unnecessary. I don’t know if I’m missing something but I’m feeling him and Kate. I love Kate, but their relationship is my least favorite thing about the show.

They better not make us wait until the last episode to find out how he dies because that's gonna irritate me.

The only reason to still watch this show is how to find out about Jack's death. It started really strong last year but has quickly escalated into sappy soap opera territory.

if randall and beth do adopt an older boy im wondering if they will pull a fosters move and have tess and that boy form an inappropriate relationship

i don't like when this show is obviously trying to make viewers cry. It comes off very bad on screen and leaves me rolling my eyes. They need to let it be more natural.
