    Glad to see you guys covering this prop. Ever since everything blew up about these designs I've been waiting to see it tested by pilots with experience. As from what I've heard from the aviation community, the durability is the biggest barrier for most applications. I'd be curious about the durability of them over time without crashes. For instance in a long range fpv that is not meant to take a beating.

  • @arkaei
    @arkaei10 ай бұрын

    I'm on Gemfan 4S and just madly in love. toroidals don't do it for me, the low durability was clear from the get-go. but glad to see a test by skilled pilots. thanks guys.

    Very timely video. Just got back from flying a set of these doughnuts. Just cruising around testing out they're efficiency and my gps. 10 minutes flight time, started with 9 satellites, ended with 20. Couple more flights then some on tri-blades for comparison . I'll start off with Gemfan 5236 props. 😎

    I'd like to see an X8, but let's say with four 5" props and 2207 motors and four 1404 motors with 3.5 inch props below the larger motors. Then mix and match prop or motor sizes. Why? Why not for an episode. See what it feels like, maybe more lift but less power use than a standard X8.

    @@greedfox7842 these props work decent in some applications, but from what I seen in a high torque scenario there's too much flexing and they want to break. I could see how this would work out good in a low torque, long range situation. The problem is everybody 3D prints them in that PLA doesn't work very good for props.

    I don't get why the FPV community keeps producing these imitations of a very specific prop, that even went to the length to explain WHY they did what they did, and even bonafide manufacturers are creating these without any of the original considerations, the main point of the this type is to offset the blades, but these are all on the same plane, hope someone who actually knows what they're doing is able to recreate them
