I built a 12S fpv miniquad that runs at 50 volts and sounds INSANE

Ғылым және технология

So I was out running the other day and i had this crazy idea - what if I could take some components that I had lying around and make a drone that could run off of 12s, instead of just the measly 6s that they currently run on. I wasn't sure whether or not it would work, and I knew there would definitely be challenges to making it not blow up on 12 cell voltage (that's 50v). It turned out absolutely insane and I'm stoked to share it with you!
Shout out to ‪@quadmovr‬ who somehow managed to drop a video on the same freaking day! (i filmed this yesterday) • 12s on 5inch | a quick...

100% doable. Did this with a 5” and 2700kv motors. Ultra fun but tip stall was the biggest hurdle. Ran that exact drivetrain on a AstroX but went 4s in series for 8s. Was actually slower than my 6s rig running the same setup. Fun stuff!!! Great content man!

I think its really cool that you did this build and it was nice to see your excitement and the performance. I would put forward the argument that running 6s 1800 kv would get you equivalent performance. That would vary depending on the carriage of an action camera. Partly for the fact that you are getting a diminishing return on the power to weight ratio of the vehicle. The inertia/momentum this thing must carry must be nuts. I'd be interested to see how the performance does with regard to the battery, amp draws and sag during performance, a speed gun would also be pretty sweet. It was a surprise to see that you were over propped the motors are 900kv with a 7" propeller when smaller motors appear to handle them. Experiments like this are great and fuel the hobby. Nice video and keep at it sir!

It's how they say: There's no kill like overkill. You're turning up to be the one to disrupt and push technology forward. Why did you do it? Because you can and have the skills to tame that amount of raw power. Keep'em coming, Nurk. And be safe.
