I'm knock kneed myself, and I find that a lot of cases of knock knees are caused by being overweight/obese when you are younger and still growing. Since you're growing and your bones are very responsive, the extra weight will cause your knees to cave in. I personally was overweight/fat growing up, and though I lost all the weight, I still have knock knees due to my bones growing inward during my growing phase. Moral of the story: if you have kids, keep them a healthy weight to avoid not only knock knees but a lot of other health complications as well!

yes, i was an overweight kid. Instead of my mother listening to my doctors, she told me “its fine its just baby fat” but simultaneously told me “you need to lose weight!” 🤦🏿‍♀️ Now im 17, ive lost 15lbs but im still 20lbs overweight. Not only has knocked knees lowered my physical confidence, but it drastically affected my performance during workout doing exercises such as bulgarian split squats, deadlifts, just any leg exercises… it hurts when they cave in. 😢

I really wish I could get this surgery. I hate not being able to run and do physical activity without getting injured.

Yeah, I told my mom about my knees, wondering if it's normal that I'm unable to touch my feet together while standing up straight, and she thought it was normal. Until recently, I showed her that it is indeed a thing and that it's not really normal. I didn't really know that I had knock knees when I was younger, but now that I do, I get really self-conscious about them. I think it looks incredibly ugly, but since I can't say it's caused any issues (pain, inability to walk correctly, etc.) it's unnecessary to go through corrective surgery. So, I'll have to live with it for now. I'll probably always hate how it looks, but it's not debilitating, so I guess it's all good in that sense.

I got the surgery a couple of days ago (July 12th,2019) and it’s helping me a lot. I got one leg done because if you get both then you will be in a wheelchair and that isn’t fun but I’m on crutches and it’s hard to hop around alittle but I know it will be worth it at the end

I got it recently on (Dec 3 2020) It was pretty good, it may be hard rn but it's worth for my future the second leg surgery I guess I will get it after one year when the first leg is recovered from the operation

Genuinely considering this. Woke up with persistent pain in both knocked knees. It's not severe. I can walk, run long distances, bike, lift (variably, some lifts are awkward because of them), etc. It's just the pain. That deep cold throbbing. Also the fact the weight distribution screws with my ankles and feet. Mom always asked why I walked like an old man as a child. My kids are never going through this.

Surgery isn’t the only way to fix knock knee you can do certain exercises and stretches to strengthen your inner thighs. I should know because this worked for me

As I know of if you are young like me (13) and still have growth plates in your knees they'll put plates on the inside of your knees (2 plates per knee) (2 screws per plate so 8 screws in total) this is a totally new procedure and a less painful recovery than this existing one. (Only works if you have growth plates.) What its supposed to do is straighten out your knees in a couple of months and then get them taken out once your legs are straight (I am not sure if it hurts or not when they are taken out because I still have my plates in and my knees are still straightening out.) Just get this surgery cause this is less painful and its a one and a half to two week recovery depends on the patient. (It'll still hurt pretty badly but not as bad as this one.)

My knees have somewhat straightened, they’re not as bad as they used to be. I am 17, almost 18 and my knees are slightly knocked but I have made major progress. I would say this plate method works.

I had this surgery 6 years ago they do one leg at a time and it was very painful due to the fact that I was very sensitive to the pain medications I was given and opted to just endure the pain bc I felt worse with the medications. If you get this done I strongly recommend PT after I slacked on mine and to this day I’m still suffering from not getting my strength back in my legs properly. But I have started strength exercises and I have seen results with my strength

I’m not really sure bc it was medically necessary for me bc I kept dislocating my knee caps bc I was so knock kneed so my insurance covered it all but I’ve been told it’s like 20k per leg. If it’s severe enough your insurance will cover it because my dr told me that I would most likely develop arthritis if wasn’t fixed

Actually, surprisingly many Japanese people, especially women, are knock-kneed. I notice it every time I go there. Maybe it’s partially the influence from the media to look cute at all times and they therefore sacrifice proper posture (one of the causes of knock knees) for it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

as a man its depressing to have. you cant really be athletic like the rest which gives you insecurities. Id cut a finger off just to get my legs fixed. My legs been like that since I was 11. sometimes I run and it starts to pop. makes me more sad bkuz I just wanna be athletic but not able to from this. Same. Right now I just distract from it. Straight leg pants like paper bag trousers or cigarette pants are a lifesaver and hide the shape of your knees. Long skirts or dresses that come at the knees or lower also work well for hiding it. I am going to try shoe inserts since I can not afford proper treatment. I am flat footed and have severe over pronation when I walk. I think that is causing my legs to give in at the knees. That might be an option for you as well.

Well this sucks...i legit only had the money to see a chiropractor one time so... i had this problem all my life and was made fun of at school for being weird when i walk or do sport/try to pick something from the floor. But i honestly don’t even care about any of that. I would just get injured all the time even taking the stairs and now i’m 26 and overweight because every time i try doing sport i injure myself. It’s not even because i don’t want to exercise, any exercise just hurt. It just grew worse and worse and now my legs feels so weak. Not gonna lie i didn’t have the best parenting and i’m kinda mad at my mom (for tons of others stuff too but 😅) because all of this happened because of the way i was sitting, the fact that she did nothing, didn’t even ask a doctor, didn’t told me to sit another way when i was young, etc. I’m sitting in a « W » in all my childhood pictures-.-

The plate wil come out after about a year with another surgery and I was running two days after the second surgery. After the first one I was running three weeks after the surgery. I hope this helped even if its late
