    I have a RadRover 5 with 1,250 miles. Absolutely no issues. This is a great ebike that I ride daily on gravel and paved trails. It is built like a tank, is extremely stable and responsive. I couldn’t be happier.

    I've had one of these bikes for a few months now. Overall agree with the reviewer, however let me add to the Cons. The battery has an internal non user replaceable fuse. My battery blew the fuse after 29 miles. So the battery would not charge. Yes Rover replaced the battery at no charge (pun intended), but it took well over 45 days or so. If the fuse blows again on the new battery after warranty expires, I've gotta take apart the battery, replace the fuse, or buy a new battery for $500 or so. That sucks IMHO Next, the brakes are adequate. That's it, just adequate for easy riding. It really needs better stopping power. Of course, that is based on the way I ride, but at 68 yrs old, I don't get too wild. I ride off road, and especially love the fat tires. Especially after I aired them down to 8-10 lbs. I can just ride over almost anything easily. Bottom line, I like this bike....for me the pros outweigh the cons by a lot.

    I had the same thing happen at about 70km. It took about the same amount of time to get it resolved. The customer service was very good in my experience. Yes, it took a long time, but they kept in touch and gave me updates. I appreciated that. Overall, though, I love this bike and I'm putting about 35km a day on it. 10 times out of 10 I would do it again.

    I am RAD customer. I bought first Rad City. It has been a wonderful bike and I am just as satisfied as the Fellow talking about the bike. I am in no way paid or compensated in anyway by anyone to say that I am very satisfied with RADS customer service after the sale! When I bought my RAD city I spent $1700 or maybe it was 1599 one of the two and it has done very well and the time that I have needed customer support or parts Rad power bikes is right there. Also but if you buy a RAD bike make sure that you get two extra inner tubes in case you end up with a flat if you don’t want to wait for a little while to get them because standard inner tubes don’t work I personally also keep a tire because I don’t wanna be without my bike. These bikes are well worth the money and with proper maintenance they last and I still have the same battery and it works fine. I hope this helps someone because I am not doing this for views or anything else to help someone make a decision RAD was my first power bike and it is my only one. I am thinking about buying another power bike and I am definitely going to go with RAD!!

UPDATE We ended up getting two Rad City Step-Thru version 3 in early June had Velofix put them together,Was definitely worth it as they were on sale and the version 3 has regenerative braking definitely saves the brakes on long down grades.We have over 110km(70 miles) on them already.

Also Eric, this is my second RadRover, I also have Generation 2 and with the fantastic deal they had for Black Friday, I chose it over the Aventon and glad I did, great support, great accessories. I love the upgrades from Gen 2. Thank you for the review, I'll be passing it on to others that I'd like to see purchase one of these, you cover it well. -jeff

    I've had this same bike since Christmas, and I absolutely love it. I'm 5'5" and my daughter is 5'3" and we both fit very comfortably on it. It rides great on the road but do most of my riding on trails and it is so comfortable. I totally agree about the bell, lol. The throttle is my favourite feature - it has saved me from dropping the bike on several occasions (it took me a while to get the hang of the right gear with the right assist level to keep momentum uphill or starting from a standstill) and if you need a sudden boost of assist it is instant compared to upping the pedal assist or changing gears just for a few seconds.

    We bought a pair year and a half ago Yes all you say is true. We have different models I didn’t need super fat tires they are a little chunky but not fat. But it has all the same features. We probably get 40 miles on a charged batter more on less hilly terrain We carry them On back of RV and they are great to get around. That said thief’s want to steal them. So I would suggest you get a apple GPS tag and hide it on bike out of site and a super heavy duty chain that can’t be hacked off to easy even adding a motion detector alarm to alert you if someone’s trying to steal them. That the worse part of owning them They are made very well but getting a double bike carrier are 600.00 bucks. Everything this guy says is spot on correct. The hills are what these bikes can do. You can find yourself doing 20 plus miles in no time. Im 64 and this bike allows us to hill and drives that would suck without assist. 😅 if we tow my truck behind Tv. We carry the rack on back of ford Ranger after adding helper shocks it rides great on the pickup as well

    We got two 6+'s a few weeks ago, high step for me, step through for my wife. In retrospect, I would have gotten two different colors of the step through. Of note, the high step (charcoal) was made in Taiwan and had an accessory pack of reflectors (wheels and frame). The white step through was made in china. Both packed well but my wifes bike arrived upside down, even though in big block letters was printed - IF YOU CAN READ THIS I'M UPSIDE DOWN FLIP ME OVER. The stem/handlebar clamp had punched through the packing and was damaged (Rad shipped one right out). No reflectors. The chintzy bell mentioned in the video? We got two different bells, one push up, the other push down. Multiple accessories were standard (sale) and ordered. Every accessory came in a separate Fedex shipment, 9 in all IIRC. The rear rack ordered for the high step is not centered on the bike, it is offset to the right about an inch. The high step had a MPH display that failed within 10 minutes, Rad also sent that out right away.

    Very good review. I have an Aventon Aventure and I really like it generally speaking but it has a few short comings I’m not fond of that the Rad Rover 6 appears to not have Aventon does not have a phone line for tech support. Granted the bike has been reliable so far but what happens when I have to fix a problem in real time. The email support has been good so far but, what if? Rad has it beat there easily. You hear a lot about how good the color display is on the Aventure but when your my age (63), with some vision problems (macular degeneration) and your out in the bright Florida sunshine, it’s not very good. The Rads dual screen display looks like it’s much easier to read. The Aventure has a left hand thumb throttle which would be ok if it would respond to input immediately, but it doesn’t. There is a significant delay between the time you depress the thumb throttle and the motor engages to start moving. I hate that. The Rad has a twist throttle which I’d prefer but a more responsive thumb throttle would be fine also. The Rad Rover 6 was not available when I bought my Aventure but if it was and I had tested them back to back, I can’t help but think I would’ve gone with the Rad. Question Can you switch the PAS level on the Rad from “off” directly to whatever power level you want? On some ebikes I’ve seen you can jump directly from “off” to a preselected power level, ex. 0 directly to PAS 3. On the Aventure you have to you have to go from 0 thru 1 and 2 to get to 3 as an example. Not a big deal but I’d rather jump directly from 0 or “off” to the power level I want to use and back again, if desired.

    @@mbiraside No sir it’s a 2019 basic Rad, I didn’t wait for the warranty to expire before I upgraded it, it’s a simple procedure to take out the 500 W motor and pop in a true 750 and that’s what I did, most expensive, of course, was the two 52V batteries from what used to be Bolton’s E bike’s, the bike can do 30 and I’m still not satisfied. I’m seriously thinking about installing a 2000 3000 W motor sometime in the near future,until this bike does 60 won’t be happy. Merry Christmas 🙏🎅🏼

    I purchased a Himiway step through ebike last year and a huge dislike was the strong power of the 750 watt hub motor on number 1 peddle assist. We were riding on wooded trails and at one point there were sharp turns. Even in number 1 mode, the bikes jurked forward to the point that you lost control and came close to hitting a tree. Way too much power and torque in the 1 mode. I ended up switching my BaFang Mid-drive units to these bikes along with the controls. This motor is 750 watt also but is so smooth and gentle in the 1 mode. The power released is gradual and not instant as with the hub motors. Not sold on these hub motors yet for our style of riding.

    My wife is 60 and only 5-0" , so she has the similar difficulty. We did not find any 26" wheel bikes that were good for her they all forced her to jump down at stops, which also with an e bike means a lot of balance issues starting out again, as the motor wants to give ( too much) assistance. She and I finally purchased 20" cargo/utility/off-road bikes. KBO Ranger for me, a dealer demo Rad Mini 4 for her. The 20" smaller bikes are just fine, as we mostly ride bike paths and hiking trails, not city streets.

Now I am encountering the RadRover 6 online.......could someone tell me why one would be better than the other? Superficially, the Aventon looks better to me, what with the integrated battery, metal fenders, turn signals, etc. But in terms of performance.....I just have no idea. I bought these bikes last November and it has been a total nightmare. Customer service has been responsive in the fact that they have given me a couple of laundry lists of things to do in order to fix the problem I have (bike won't power up), none of which have worked. They have sent me a couple of parts to swap out but that hasn't fixed it either. I know it's a product issue and not an assembly matter. I took the bike in the box to my local bike shop for assembly since I didn't want any issues and thought a pro would be the best way to go. I purchased 2 of these bikes and although one has worked perfectly, one hasn't been able to be fixed. Over three months in and I have yet to be able to ride this thing. Very disappointed! I purchased these bikes and the Hollywood rack for my motorhome to use while on vacation so we wouldn't have to have a car. That would have been a good plan had it worked.

    My experience has not been great. Started by plugging in charger before plugging into the battery. Blew a fuse. Haven’t heard anyone mention this in any reviews. Seems to be a design flaw. To be fair they sent me a brand new battery but that failed to charge the first night I tried. Customer service seems non existent. I waited one hour to talk to someone but hung up. Called the next day and was put on hold for an hour and 15 minutes. Only so much elevator music I can take! Problem still not resolved. I just want to ride my bike and charge it. Frustrating !!!

  • @squirlmy

    @squirlmy

    I thought the same, but then I went to some brick and mortars! There's supply shortages and long waiting lists, and so many new models are coming out so often, that salespeople seemed to know very little about particular new models. Also some were a lot more enthusiastic about showing off much more expensive models. If you are in the market for $5000+ ebike, actual stores might be good, but around $2000 and less, not so much.
